This guy is brilliant! I was looking to get an inspection done for a fixer I recently purchased. I've called about 7-8 different inspectors that I looked up on yelp that are working in San Mateo county and the area, and asked them questions regarding their services, availability and pricing. I'm in the construction field for quite a few years now and I've had the chance to see many lazy/unprofessional inspectors that miss big things and not just the small details. I just got my house inspected by Dean Stocker and he is a super-nice, easygoing guy. He discovered that my attic vents were blocked by insulation, which I never would have thought of! He really did a thorough job of looking at the house both inside and out. We lkost an electrical panel screw for awhile and I was impressed that he spent the time to try and find it even though it wasn't a big deal. Very detail-oriented. Dean inspected my new home as part of the closing process. He was the most inexpensive of the three property inspectors that my real estate agent suggested (since I don't know anything about home inspection that was pretty much the deciding factor). He was very nice, answered all my questions, as well as those of my dad and my real estate agent. The property is part of a TIC and Dean look in all areas relevant to my purchase, the apartment itself, the rooftop deck, the boiler room, and the crawl space. When he was testing the steam heater in the living room the valve broke but after he'd finished the inspection he ran down to the local hardware store, came back with glue and fixed it. We had Dean Stocker come out for a home inspection in March 2014 with a day's notice - it was the first time my agent had worked with him. I was extremely pleased with his thorough inspection, and friendly and helpful discussion afterwards. He went up on the roof, looked inside the attic crawl space, used his laser level to help squash some fears about leveling. His report includes color photos which I thought was a nice added touch. I was happy with the home inspection Dean recently did on the home we are closing on. Dean came in on short notice, was very professional, reasonably priced, knowledgeable, and personable. As a first time home buyer, I had a ton of questions. Dean answered them all clearly and didn't hurry me through anything. You see, prior to meeting Dean, the sellers had done an inspection, and I had met with that gentlman, so I had some basis for comparing the two home inspectors. Dean was 10 times better.
