It was just me and him but it went smoothly and quickly. He turned on the video for me to see the movements I would have to demonstrate. He maintained a running dialogue and kept information grounded to real world, every day life use. He assisted in my stance and even ran through a practice scenario in which we played it like it may happen in the future. At the end, I had the option to do additional modules for children and infants, etc. but I declined. This class is not expensive at all - especially when you factor in that he's teaching you life saving techniques. I opted to return again, this time with my family so we all can learn children and infant cpr as we have a preschooler in the house and now that I've vetted the place, I've confident that the experience and information being presented to us will be done the same way. He offers same day certification and will give you your card on the spot after class is over. I have been taking my BLS classes with CPR123 - Mineola for the past couple of years. The classes…read moreare suitable for both healthcare providers as well as non healthcare providers. They have several NY locations (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau, Suffolk) but I've only taken the Mineola ones as the times and location worked for me each time. I've had different instructors each class (all with healthcare backgrounds) but all of them were great. The class I took recently was with Paul. He was very knowledgeable and presented the information in a way that wasn't boring. Classrooms are clean with AC and working mannequins (they have lights that show if you're doing compressions correctly). There are also bathrooms available but I did not use them. You can book classes via their website or by calling them directly. I have done both with no issues. The staff at the front desk have always been pleasant. They will send you a confirmation email with more instructions so make sure you read that because if you're using GPS, it says to put Mineola and not Garden City. When I took my class, we were allowed to park on levels 1 and 3 marked for visitors. Check your email though in case that changes. Parking was free and plentiful. My class was on a weekday at 12:30pm. I've done all in person classes because I learn best that way so I can't comment on the online classes. I think with the online classes though you still have to come in to do the hands on portion. Once class is finished, you should receive the ecard within an hour or 2. If not, call them. Mine for some reason took 2 days but I didn't need it in a hurry. Cons: 1. There is no difference if you're doing an initial class or renewing. They used to have this option (renewal was cheaper and less time) but maybe it's just easier to have initial/renewal as the same. 2. There weren't much day and time options for the locations I was checking out (Mineola and Huntington) for July. It was either 8:30am or 12:30pm start. It would have been nice if they had some later start times or more weekend classes.

Registration is super easy, now there's no difference between first time certification and renewal which is great. In the era of covid, I opted to use the Mineola site for the first time and it was nice. Parking lot available with limited spots but there is also metered street parking as well. Cali was the instructor and I've had prior classes with her, she's fantastic and keeps things straight forward. The 3-4 hour class flew by! Have also had classes with Mike and he was superb! They all have tons of experience in emergency resuscitation. I have been to the Forest Hills and Manhattan locations also- however parking bites and I usually take the subway but I do not want to take public transport to get there until covid is more controlled. PYD does a pretty good job in offering what they do for an NPO…read more They did a super job in taking care of me while i was in NY for a couple of months. I'm an art major in college, so 'business' was a totally new concept, and PYD successfully taught me the fundamental principles very quickly. The PROS: They do teach you and give you amazing business opportunities that probably a normal company wouldn't. But what you gain also depends on how hard you work, or what you can make out of the experience. I have to mention that Mr.Leo is a super motivational speaker, and if you are also at loss in direction in NY, his speech will change you! I also find this program very useful if you come from a foreign country, or other states beside NY, simply if you are new to the whole "NY business mind". NY definitely has a unique dynamic like no other, and even just in the way you socialize with people seem different. In that sense, PYD has taught me very valuable and interesting ways to look at things in terms of business. You can also meet other ambitious people here, and the friendships I made here personally were very valuable. I think this comes from the fact that they are a very small school, and everyone quickly starts feeling as if they were all part of a family. I found out later that some people that attend PYD regularly, are in very high positions of big cooperates that I would never even find the chance to talk to in normal life. Yes, for some reason PYD does attract these people to come even while they have amazing careers. Never under-estimate who might be sitting in with you at a meeting while your interning for them! The CONS: Because the school is so small, the dynamics of this school really depends on the people that attend PYD at the time. It does tend to get frustrating when people don't speak up, or meetings don't seem productive. This all depends on if the students/interns there are just there to fulfill their resume as "internship", or if they really want to learn. You also have to understand that this is a learning process for everyone, so at times it's struggling to cope with different levels of 'professionalism' s until they all get to the high standards. You can slack but they DO make you work HARD! So sometimes you will feel pressured and worn out, doubting if this is what you really want. No pain, no gain, right? Overall, I think PYD definitely teaches you a lot and makes you feel rewarded for what you do.
