I have been taking my BLS classes with CPR123 - Mineola for the past couple of years. The classes are suitable for both healthcare providers as well as non healthcare providers. They have several NY locations (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau, Suffolk) but I've only taken the Mineola ones as the times and location worked for me each time. I've had different instructors each class (all with healthcare backgrounds) but all of them were great. The class I took recently was with Paul. He was very knowledgeable and presented the information in a way that wasn't boring. Classrooms are clean with AC and working mannequins (they have lights that show if you're doing compressions correctly). There are also bathrooms available but I did not use them. You can book classes via their website or by calling them directly. I have done both with no issues. The staff at the front desk have always been pleasant. They will send you a confirmation email with more instructions so make sure you read that because if you're using GPS, it says to put Mineola and not Garden City. When I took my class, we were allowed to park on levels 1 and 3 marked for visitors. Check your email though in case that changes. Parking was free and plentiful. My class was on a weekday at 12:30pm. I've done all in person classes because I learn best that way so I can't comment on the online classes. I think with the online classes though you still have to come in to do the hands on portion. Once class is finished, you should receive the ecard within an hour or 2. If not, call them. Mine for some reason took 2 days but I didn't need it in a hurry. Cons: 1. There is no difference if you're doing an initial class or renewing. They used to have this option (renewal was cheaper and less time) but maybe it's just easier to have initial/renewal as the same. 2. There weren't much day and time options for the locations I was checking out (Mineola and Huntington) for July. It was either 8:30am or 12:30pm start. It would have been nice if they had some later start times or more weekend classes. read more

I have been using CPR123 for almost a decade now for my BLS and ACLS certification renewals. I keep coming back because I like that they have several locations I can choose from which means there are many time slots and days available for your needs and the instructors have always been excellent and experienced! Registration is super easy, now there's no difference between first time certification and renewal which is great. In the era of covid, I opted to use the Mineola site for the first time and it was nice. Parking lot available with limited spots but there is also metered street parking as well. Cali was the instructor and I've had prior classes with her, she's fantastic and keeps things straight forward. The 3-4 hour class flew by! Have also had classes with Mike and he was superb! They all have tons of experience in emergency resuscitation. I have been to the Forest Hills and Manhattan locations also- however parking bites and I usually take the subway but I do not want to take public transport to get there until covid is more controlled. I updated my PALS once again with CPR123. I have many other places that I can renew my certifications and some at no cost to me but I prefer CPR123. I continue to learn and gain competence with professional instructors (special mention of Tommy). read more

I took the BLS course for Health professionals yesterday with instructor Paul. It was my 2nd class with Paul since my card expired after 2 years. Paul has years of experience on the field and in the classroom. His slides and video clips are on point. The class is supposed to be 4 hrs long, but since things went smoothly, we were able to get out in 3 hrs. He gave a 10 minute break at the 1 hr mark. There were 5 of us in the class. If you pay attention, you'll get an easy 100% on the post quiz because he teaches you everything you need to know. read more

I attended a CPR class on Sunday, January 17th. The front desk person was very friendly and professional. Adherent with COVID-19 precautions. My Instructor was Renee. She was professional and very knowledgeable of the material presented. The classroom atmosphere was conducive for learning. The center is located at a busy junction of Yellowstone &Queens Blvds. Needed to get my BLS (Basic Life Support)/CPR Certification and at $80 for the course and a 2 yr certification, this was most affordable and best option. HFS are very friendly and efficient. They offer many courses every week from BLS to ACLS and PALS which you can see on the course schedule they have on their website. My instructor Nemo was very friendly, smart, patient and made the class fun and easy. I liked all the hands on teaching and how he had each of us demonstrate in front of each other with different senarios to better help us learn. Registering for a class was easy. Today was my second time renewing my BLS with CPR123 and for each time I chose Tommy as my instructor. He is SO AMAZING! (You can call and ask for his schedule, that's what I do). Tommy makes sure you understand the material and helps retain that info by sharing real life situations that he had went through. This facility is clean and well air conditioned. I had to get my BLS and ACLS certifications for work and CPR123 made getting them a breeze. Both Sam (for BLS) and Nemo (for ACLS) are real-world-experienced, talented, engaging instructors that kept my ADD-ish-attention focused on the material. I learned and understood cardiology better from Nemo than from most of my medical school professors. I was worried about passing the tests (especially the ACLS one after the difficult pre-test!), but they made sure you knew what you needed to know. Great location in Midtown so that during a break, you had plenty of quick food options, as well as close proximity to a lot of subways. I liked that I was able to schedule online easily at the Manhattan location with the option to pick up the books at the class if you wanted. Getting your cards on the same day was also really convenient. I would recommend and return for my re-certifications! read more

Let's be honest - getting and maintaining these certifications is a pain, but CPR123 made the whole process as enjoyable as possible. I did an ACLS renewal with Nemo and was completely satisfied with everything. This was my third renewal but somehow he presented the info in ways that made more sense to me than prior classes I've taken. The class was laid back but straight forward. The mega code was not stressful, and I was out of there early (you know you wanted to know!). In the past, I had gone through the full ACLS course for free via on-site training hosted by my employer, but I forgot to sign up for the most recent training at my hospital and was nearing my deadline to renew, so I went with CPR123. I signed up for the full class rather than do the online version with a separate skills assessment since I'm teaching residents now, and I wanted to be able to not only learn the material from an instructor but also see how a dedicated instructor teaches this information to students from a variety of backgrounds. The instructor I had was Tommy, and he was terrific. He set the mood for our class of 8 students early in the day by telling us that the first time he was taught ACLS, his experience was so terrible that he didn't finish the course due to a harsh and unkind instructor, and he's vowed to never have one of his students feel the same way. Tommy kept the mood light with jokes that occasionally poked fun at students but mostly were self-deprecating, and the day went surprisingly quickly for a 6-hour session. That's largely because we went through the mandatory videos without interruptions, and instead, Tommy had us spend most of our time running simulations going over every branch of the various ACLS algorithms and using those simulations as teaching points. Each student had roughly the same number of simulation sessions in which we were team leader. However, Tommy asked us for our backgrounds, and because our group consisted mostly of MDs, PAs, and NPs who had gone through ACLS training multiple times before, he focused his attention during post-simulation questioning on a student in our group who was still early in her career and admitted she was shaky on some of the material, especially heart rhythms. He provided rapid and clear feedback with each skills demonstration session, and while everybody got at least one question or detail wrong, Tommy made sure nobody felt bad about it by talking about his own experiences learning the material. By the end of the day, when Tommy did a quick verbal quiz session on various heart rhythms, everyone was able to identify the rhythms with confidence. I definitely feel more comfortable about the material itself, but I also feel like I got a good "blueprint" for how I should be teaching trainees about this material going forward, so this class was more than worth the money. Also, in case it's unclear to folks considering signing up for this class, Tommy said his classes usually end around 3:30-4 pm, and they do start on time at 9:30 am. You do get your ACLS/BLS cards e-mailed to you by the evening on the same day that you took the course, so this is a good option if like me, you're scrambling to get this done on short notice. read more

I was nervous about taking this class and getting certified for ACLS. Just think about it, handling/managing CODES! But Nemo made sure to put our minds at ease. He made learning so much fun. And one very important thing he made me understand was the difference between narrow and wide QRS. So no more guessing what strip I'm reading and what treatment course to take. Great instructors make all the difference. I plan to take the PALS but only if Nemo will be teaching the class. Regarding the facility - it's clean. There was a LOT of information but Mike presented it in a way that made it seem so easy and understandable. The location is easy to find and there's also free parking! Incredible! I have taken several CPR courses in the past for work and nothing beats CPR 123. Cali is an amazing instructor. We got through all the material and did mock codes so that the key points really stuck in our brains! The book that we are required to purchase for the course is a great study tool. I would only go here for CPR training. You knock out everything you need to know in about three hours. It's all in person- no online portion. It makes learning way more cohesive. Just passed my first ACLS course! I had taken my BLS at CPR 123 in the Queens location so was familiar with the organization. The advantage is that ACLS is a one day course here. My instructor David was extremely knowledgeable and was excellent at explaining all the information to make it easy to understand and uses great teaching strategies to foster memorization and ease of application. The women working the front desk were very friendly and helpful. Equipment is in good working condition. Breaks were given adequately. With my instructor, if you paid attention to everything he said and were actively engaged, you shouldn't have any trouble passing! Just keep in mind, you should review a little before the class just to have a basic understanding of what is being taught and what to expect. read more

I took ACLS and BLS here. This is one of the best classes I have ever taken. You pay the money but it is worth the price. Nemo who did the ACLS class was awesome and Conrad who did the BLS was just as good. Don't think about doing this class, just do it and do it at CPR123. read more

I originally signed up for classes at this institution, but had to back out ( not at the last second either ). This school claims to have a very strict refund policy. If you are REGISTERED for a class, then you can't have a refund. The admissions rep removed me from classes, so I was literally in limbo, no classes on the agenda. When I asked for the refund, the school simply turned me down, claiming that they don't return funds after you have registered. Even if you are not registered for any classes at all, they will still keep your check. Be aware that if you have a family emergency, relocate, end up in the hospital, this school will not refund your money whatsoever. They will offer you a 2 year time period of credit. I'd give them the 3rd degree about their policies, before you attempt to sign on for any classes. This doesn't pertain to most students, who are in fact, able to sign up and take a class as usual. This pertains to those, who have ANYTHING come up that would get in the way of attending class. I'm currently in dispute with the Better Business Bureau against this school. read more

I've taken BLS twice before through different organizations and didn't find them too helpful, but Nemo's ACLS class was engaging and interactive in a way that really helped me learn the material and think about it. CPR 123 is in their name, getting it was 123. I was at their LI site for my BLS training. I love the small classroom setting of 6 students, which allows everyone to practice the hands on technique numerous times. This set up is not imidating, very productive and left there comfortable/confident with the skills. I've taken CPR training a few times prior in a bigger classroom setting and not once I left comfortable nor confident using it on anyone else other than the dummies.
