If they have difficultly fixing the item, they just put it on a shelf and wait for the customer to come in and complain. Then they'll offer a new promise, which also will not come to fruition. I don't know how they stay in business. My recommendation is to avoid J's Electronic Repair and find a reputable repair shop.

When I thought my laptop was dying (motherboard error messages), I bought a new computer. Then, at a friend's suggestion, I took both machines to Marc to get data transferred from the afflicted one to the new. He looked them over and told me he thought he could fix the old one pretty easily, so I left them with him. A few days later, Marc called me to pick them up. He had the old one working like new, had transferred all the data to the new one, and had installed in both a suite of "maintenance" tools on which he instructed me. He told me my old computer was a great machine - I'd just let spyware and malware pile up. He "tuned up" both laptops and showed me how to keep things running well. He also explained how things had gotten mucked up. All this for a VERY reasonable price! A month later, when my son's laptop was having problems, I immediately called Marc for help. He fixed it. When another problem arose, Marc suggested calling the laptop maker rather than paying him for what could be a warranty issue. You can trust Marc!

As luck would have it it was 3 weeks out of warranty. I spent an hour on the phone with the manufacturer 's Tech Support troubleshooting and trying to restart it. I could hear Windows 10 coming back up but couldn't see a thing; not a glimmer, flicker or squiggle of light on the screen. The only physical support/repair offered was via mail to the vendor and then forwarding onto manufacturer for repair in 7-10 business days with an estimated cost of $510 + shipping, handling and insurance. Hell, I could buy a refurbished one for that without the additional hassles. I literally spent part of the night searching for a local repair guy. Called mid-morning, spent 15 minutes talking to Alex about my ill Zenbook and arrived at 2 possibilities and repair costs for each option if needed. I had an appointment for 2 PM and was out of there 45 minutes later for way less than $100 with a clean, WORKING Zenbook and a 60 day warranty. Alex knows his stuff, delivers AWESOME honest, good workmanship at a very reasonable cost without BS or the run around I got from the manufacturer. YES the Yelp reviews steered me to him!
