The service I needed was a glass replacement on an IPad. It was done in less than 24 hours. They were the cheapest of the 4 places I called. That''s not the only reason I went with them. I used them because, they were the only one that explained there warranty procedure. It was also the longest.. The other reason is they donate equipment to people in need in the community. I've been a previous customer at the Chicago location, CP never fails to get my devices diagnosed and repaired in such a timely manner! Not to mention the price is always reasonable! I recently brought in my 2-year-old gaming PC with, what I thought was a PSU problem. Will immediately opened my PC and started a diagnosis, he gave me some guesses as to what the issue was. Honestly, I was worried... Replacing PSU can be simple, but it looked like the problem was beyond that. After a few days Will called me with the official diagnostic, the motherboard had to be replaced. After hearing the estimated cost to repair I swore I misheard, the cost was budget friendly, I thought it would cost way more to fix! After two weeks to the day, my PC was ready to come home! Why bother going anywhere else? After going through hell for 3 months (YES 3 MONTHS) with another computer repair shop, Computer Prodigies saved the day. Took my computer in, spoke with the owner Justin, told him what was going on and what the other technician had told me, & within a week my PC was up and running. Long story short the other technician was BSing me on and on and on with what was wrong and according to Justin everything that the other technician told me was wrong and everything was still in working order. My motherboard was still working. My RAM sticks were still good. Justin and his guys looked over my PC and within a couple hours told me what was wrong with it. I bought a new processor, they installed it and the rest was history. If i could have known about these guys 3 months ago i would have just came here. My good ol' desktop PC was done. It had a great run for almost a decade, but it was time to move on...so I decided to put together my own desktop Gaming PC Build that could handle my artistic workload. I did the research and came up with a high-end beast. Initial Build: CPU: AMD RYZEN 7 1700 3.0 GHz AIO: EVGA CLC 280 MOBO: ASUS ROG STRIX x370-F Gaming GPU: EVGA GTX 1080 Ti RAM: Kingston HyperX FURY 32GB (2x16) DDR4-2666 SSD: Samsung 960 500GB HDD: Seagate 1 TB CASE: Phanteks Enthoo Pro PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA GQ 850W ODD: ASUS 24x SATA I took my time and was methodical building it. However, when the final moment came to install Windows 10, I got the dreaded multiple blue screens of death (and other random errors: missing drivers, hardware issues, rebooted a thousand times, etc...). MICROSOFT and ASUS tech support wasn't very helpful - pointed fingers at each other. I tried several alternative methods for installing Windows 10 and none of them got me that much further. Loosing time/patience, (and not having other components to help troubleshoot), I didn't want to be stuck with a $2000+ brick. So I scoured for a reputable computer repair service. Enter Computer Prodigies, conveniently located for me in my neighborhood on the south-side, near Curie HS. They're a family-owned business and in talking to them (brothers Justin & William) discovered they were on the same page as me with the way I'd trouble-shoot. Their pricing was also very affordable. Once I dropped off my PC Build, they kept me posted daily. Their openness and transparency was very refreshing as they did all they could to narrow down the issue. It turned out to be a motherboard/processor problem. Not at all what I wanted to hear, but after testing all other possibilities it was the most likely issue. I quickly returned/exchanged both components at Microcenter in Westmont -- thankful to the manager there for making that painless -- and brought the new parts back for CS to install. They continued to stay in touch daily and made positively sure that my PC Build was all good and running smoothly before returning for the final pick up. They texted me pics and continuous status updates and never made me feel intrusive when I called them; very easy-going and honest. Thankfully, the new components resolved the problem and I finally had my PC Build returned to me up-and-running! Final Build: CPU: AMD RYZEN 7 1700X 3.4 GHz AIO: EVGA CLC 280 MOBO: AORUS GA-AX370-Gaming K7 GPU: EVGA GTX 1080 Ti RAM: Kingston HyperX FURY 32GB (2x16) DDR4-2666 SSD: Samsung 960 500GB HDD: Seagate 1 TB CASE: Phanteks Enthoo Pro PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA GQ 850W ODD: ASUS 24x SAT Their uncle Anthony was even there to help me lug it back to my car. I can't recommend Computer Prodigies highly enough - such a cool family. They maintained a high level of professionalism along with a laid-back level of comradery and humbleness. I went to this place about a year ago when my 4 year old Dell Studio 1555 would not turn on. Justin was the one who attended to me. The main reason I took it there was because this was the only place I found that offered free diagnostics. I wanted to figure out if it was worth getting this laptop fixed or just buy a new one. Obviously, that was going to be a difficult decision without actually getting it looked at. Justin was a practical man and knew consumers' attitude towards getting computers fixed. He took the laptop, gave me a holding receipt and told me he would call me later that evening or the following day with details about the issue. As promised, he called me later that evening and told me my motherboard was bust. He was very transparent in terms of what's required and what's not and did not recommend any unnecessary services. He said he did not have the part, but would order it if I decided to go along with the service - turn around time was going to be 2 days. I decided to go ahead. Two days later, I get a call that the laptop was ready to be picked up!! Very prompt service... He charged me $150 for parts and labor and was transparent about the breakout. He said the motherboard was ~$110 and $50 labor. He also gave me a $10 discount (though I don't remember what that was for). He also offered a 1 year warranty on the service though I haven't had the need to use it. Its been about a year since the service and my laptop is still running alright! He performed some general tune-up to ensure my laptop didn't have unnecessary crap. Overall, I am an extremely satisfied customer and have recommended this place to quite a few of my friends. I do have to apologize to Justin for writing this review a year after the service, but better late than never. Another interesting piece of information is Justin conducts various food & donation drives for local charities - very rare that you find a small business giving back to the community...kudos to Justin & his team. Have a pretty old Dell desktop that was infected with a virus. Brought it in and Justin was most helpful and very friendly. He told me they could fix it, clean it up and install Microsoft 10 and update other software.
