A little over a week ago, my cat decided to water test my laptop. Long story short, a glass of water spilled into (!) my laptop. The laptop sat immersed in this pool of water for nearly 20 hours. Everything was complete toast. Although most of my files are in the cloud, especially the most important ones, I decided there might be the occasional file or folder that I might not notice tomorrow or even a year from now. I decided it would be best to retrieve the contents of the drive on the laptop for peace of mind. I left the laptop with them to do an assessment first. That assessment was ~$80. After their assessment, they indicated that the contents of the drive were retrievable and gave me an estimate of $400 to retrieve the contents of the drive (the $80 would apply to that figure). I decided it was worth the cost, if for nothing more than that elusive peace of mind. I also needed a drive to put the contents on (or provide my own). Since I didn't have one, and didn't want to bother with purchasing a 3rd party drive, they charged me $140 for a Toshiba Portable Storage device. So, for about $600 (w/ tax) I got everything off the lost drive. Was it worth it? Without a doubt. Would I go back? Hell yeah.

My comments had nothing to do with not being able to answer every call (they did answer mine) or not being able to accept my service request. My point was, and continues to be, that whoever answered my call was intentionally unhelpful. Martin knows exactly who Rain City is, and knew who I was looking for. When they first split off the retail business, they were going to keep the Progressive Tech name. Then, due to some issues between them, they had to change to Rain City. Martin apparently still harbors a grudge, hence he refuses to refer any retail business to them. An honest answer would have been, "Yes, the people who used to handle retail repairs here did start a new business on Lake City Way, you're looking for Rain City Tech." An honest response to my review would have been "Sorry we played dumb and pretended not to know what you were asking, we should have just given you Rain City's new name."

The experienced staff ordered a new battery and replaced it for me. Then they made sure my laptop was functioning correctly again before sending me home. My work computer was making a horrible noise. The woman that checked it in said it sounded like a…read more"kazoo". I have not found a better description of the noise than that. The issue was a cooling fan seemed like it was failing. They got me a quote put together and I picked up the computer the following day so I could get everything backed up. The plan was that I would pay for the part, they'd order it, and they'd replace it when it arrived. Until then I could lightly use the computer. My company's IT is handled out of a corporate office on the east coast. As such, then dealing with hardware issues usually isn't feasible. But with a slow turn around on ordering the new fan, they thought they could get me a computer in half the time. So, I picked it up and didn't order the part. I told them what was going on and offered to pay for the diagnostics which was declined. I get it back to the office and it's fine. No more kazoo noises, at least for now. So, they fixed my computer and refused money for doing so. The next time we have a computer hardware issue, I'll be suggesting T.S. USA Computer Repair. Great service, content location, and that helped me a ton. It is most certainly appreciated.

I heartily recommend Daniel's work. He gave my ten-year-old Macbook Pro a new lease on life. Now I…read moredon't need to pay 2 arms and 2 legs for a new laptop in the middle of the 2026 rampocalypse. Daniel was able to replace a dead, swollen battery and a bad speaker, at a price which I considered reasonable, and with amazing speed (considering that those items are glued into the top case of the laptop). He told me which day he would be able to start the work, and arranged with me to bring it back in on that day. The work was completed exactly as promised, and I had it back in my hands before I even missed it. He also gave me some excellent advice. For example, this laptop has the famously flaky "butterfly" keyboard and it was typing double-letters. He was very clear, before starting the work, that the job to replace the keyboard was difficult and risky (again, because it's glued into the top case). It's hard to source a good keyboard, and might result in a keyboard that would just go flaky again. So he just stuck with the agreed-upon battery and speaker fixes. (Later, it turns out that I was able to replace the individual flaky key switches myself without having to remove the keyboard at all.) His most valuable advice was to teach me about the existence of a third-party tool ("OCLP") which would allow me to install OS 13 onto the laptop even though Apple only allows OS 12 on it. After getting the laptop back from the battery replacement, I tried it, and it's working great on OS 13 now. This was important and well-timed advice, because Chrome is going to stop releasing updates for OS 12 this month. And while I was in the shop talking to him, he was multitasking and helping other customers, too. He matter-of-factly fixed a bad audio driver on one lady's Windows laptop as they stood there at the counter. I'm very impressed and satisfied with the work. It's like having a new laptop again. So if you need your laptop repaired, definitiely bring it in and have him give you an estimate. I wish I had done it sooner.
