I heartily recommend Daniel's work. He gave my ten-year-old Macbook Pro a new lease on life. Now I don't need to pay 2 arms and 2 legs for a new laptop in the middle of the 2026 rampocalypse. Daniel was able to replace a dead, swollen battery and a bad speaker, at a price which I considered reasonable, and with amazing speed (considering that those items are glued into the top case of the laptop). He told me which day he would be able to start the work, and arranged with me to bring it back in on that day. The work was completed exactly as promised, and I had it back in my hands before I even missed it. He also gave me some excellent advice. For example, this laptop has the famously flaky "butterfly" keyboard and it was typing double-letters. He was very clear, before starting the work, that the job to replace the keyboard was difficult and risky (again, because it's glued into the top case). It's hard to source a good keyboard, and might result in a keyboard that would just go flaky again. So he just stuck with the agreed-upon battery and speaker fixes. (Later, it turns out that I was able to replace the individual flaky key switches myself without having to remove the keyboard at all.) His most valuable advice was to teach me about the existence of a third-party tool ("OCLP") which would allow me to install OS 13 onto the laptop even though Apple only allows OS 12 on it. After getting the laptop back from the battery replacement, I tried it, and it's working great on OS 13 now. This was important and well-timed advice, because Chrome is going to stop releasing updates for OS 12 this month. And while I was in the shop talking to him, he was multitasking and helping other customers, too. He matter-of-factly fixed a bad audio driver on one lady's Windows laptop as they stood there at the counter. I'm very impressed and satisfied with the work. It's like having a new laptop again. So if you need your laptop repaired, definitiely bring it in and have him give you an estimate. I wish I had done it sooner. read more

Took laptop for two months after quoting two weeks for a repair. Complete lack of contact from the shop throughout the process, needing to be reminded multiple times by myself to order a part required for my repair. They were able to remove the hard drive for me for a very small fee. I've replaced a several of these myself, so I could tell these guys have done it a million times. The space bar on my 2016 Macbook popped off and I was unable to reattach it without breaking it. Was considering buying a new laptop until i took a chance and stopped in. Dan took a look at the keyboard, did some adjusting and reattached some parts and guess what? The space bar attached and is working fine like before. I accidentally plugged my android into USB port,and my laptop died instantly,wouldn't start after that. Took it to Seattle laptop, about 20 min later,after I left I received a call from the owner that my laptop is working. Tha owner opened it,disconnected and reconnected a few things and it started to work. I authorized $150 for repairs without calling me,he could have just let it sit there for a few days and then charge me $ 150,I would of never known, but he didn't. What an amazing and honest man ! Our new puppy spilled a glass of water into my Macbook. I immediately put it in white rice, like I would an IPhone, and made an appointment with Seattle Laptop to look at it. The owner of the business called the next day saying, "That rice trick of yours worked! Your computer started right up, first try, no problem! ...that will be $350." !!!??? What?? You didn't do anything!!! You just told me it started right up, first try, no problems. How the fuck can you, in good conscience, charge me nearly $400 for simply turning it on??? Owner claimed he had done a bunch of unnecessary things I hadn't requested to the laptop after he saw it was working fine. What a fucking scam! The computer wasn't worth $400. But, while he had it, I asked if he could fix the J key, which wasn't working. He said fixing the key was too much work so he didn't do it... Just absolutely infuriating! The laptop came back with two huge deep gouges across the front of it. Honestly looked as if someone had taken a knife or something to it. Nope... I recommend you try somewhere else. It's the same as with dishonest car garages -- charging obscene prices for unnecessary services I didn't request is a MAJOR red flag! My laptop fell onto its charger and would no longer charge. I took it to these guys and they quickly examined it, found the problem and fixed it within minutes. I came in asking about compressed air or an electronics fan while trying to clean out my desktop. I don't know what I'm doing but had noticed it was really dusty, and BestBuy didn't have the gear or advice. The the staff were friendly and helpful and talked me through why I probably wanted to use a less abrasive cleaning technique. They offered to clean out the machine and because it was a quick job did not charge - would recommend for service and expertise and will come back when I need something else done. I also had had some strange fan noises - they suggested I watch it for a bearing wear-out and that there wasn't anything immediately necessary to do. The lack of upsell here is important to me and indicative of a shop that cares about getting a good result for the customer. read more

Second time we went there, they told us our computer had several poorly functioning parts and sold us another one that had been turned in to them (for recycle?) and partly refurbished. Didn't work. Took almost $500 and 21 days for us to get back a somewhat functioning computer. I don't think their personnel are Apple-certified. Their warranty is only good for a month. I'd go to an Apple-certified place in the future. You won't save any money here. read more

He is more interested in identifying what is not working and correcting it than in making a quick buck. I have relied on Seattle Laptop for more than 20 years, through Dells, Toshibas, IBM/Lenovos and most recently, a Macbook Pro. In every instance, there was no "it could be several things so we'll just replace them all." Nope, it was always a matter of making a thoughtful diagnosis, then recommending the most practical solution (which is how I moved to Apple from Windows-based machines). Big thanks to the folks at Seattle Laptop. I've been having issues with my fusion drive on my iMac, and exhausted the support from Apple. As a developer, I have a good understanding of how computers work, but wanted advice from someone with more knowledge and experience, so I stopped by their store last Sunday. I wasn't disappointed. They were patient and engaged, we had a great technical discussion, explored the issues and my options, and they gave me some excellent advice. They could have easily talked me into an expensive hard drive replacement on the spot, but gave me some things to try first. They also had a good deal on a refurbished iMac, and we explored possibly replacing mine for that one, but they did an honest comparison and we decided I was probably better off keeping the one I had. They earned my trust with their expertise, patience, and honesty; and they'll definitely be the first ones I go to next time I need expert service or if I'm looking for a good deal on a computer. read more

Before buying a charger for my laptop, the guy with long hair demonstrated that it worked. When I bought it, the taller kid with the bowl cut swapped one of the cables before I left. I noticed the slight of hand, made a mental note, but didn't mention anything. When I went home and plugged in the charger, it didn't work. I called and explained the situation and came the following Sunday to get a much cheaper looking, but operable cable so I could charge my laptop. Number One: Don't steal. Stealing is wrong. Once someone has purchased something do not steal it and replace it with a broken one. Number Two: Don't lie. When I call your store to replace my item do not give me resistance and argue with me. Accept your wrong and mend it. (On a personal note, there are some great free services at the peaceful Mosque, local Church, and probably Orthodox Synagogue that may take you in and help you convert to a decent value system) Anyway, as a business, please respect others belongings. $40 for a used charger is a little high in my opinion also but I'll leave that topic alone for now. I literally got my laptop screen fixed here, just to randomly turn my laptop on 3 months later to be greeted with rainbow colors and haywire. Yes - it just randomly broke down. Turns out their replacement parts are some knockoff Chinese version, BUT AT LEAST DONT OVERCHARGE IT. These scammers provide a 30 day warranty but you know damn well 30 days aint enough with those fake parts. read more

Dan (or Dave?) himself and whoever works with him might be good at repairs, but they need a better business model or business/service acumen in general. One look at the shop and you know there is NO organization. He accepts 'techno trash' as part of his business and it is EVERYWHERE. On every surface, counter space, the floor, any furniture and outside on the sidewalk. Phones, laptops and every technology peripheral in the world is in his store. His service is so disorganized and he's tremendously backed up. So, unless you're willing to wait weeks you have the option of paying an additional $40 to get to the front of the line. If you pay that and call them repeatedly, you might get your laptop back inside 10 days. What is really poor is the number of excuses they'll give you when they haven't gotten around to your repair. The issue with my laptop was a couple of fans that were broken which sounded AWFUL. The parts they ordered apparently came within a couple of days, but when I started following up on the status, he told me that now it seemed like there was water damage. Yeah. NO, there wasn't. Then there was 'we can't get the video running' or we got a blue screen...NONE of which were issues when I brought the machine in. We turned it on together and everything came up fine. I paid $275+ for the service (including the $40 head of the line fee). I would discourage taking your technology for repair at this business read more

WFH and my Apple computer decided it would not turn on. I called Seattle Laptop to see if they could work on Apple products and what the timeframe was. Answer was Yes and SL said to bring it in right away. Happily, I had the option of paying a little extra to expedite for a quick turnaround (which is fair to me). Within 24 hours, or possibly less, I had my Apple back up and running! I was given a thorough explanation of the issue. This satisfied me and left me feeling good about Seattle Laptop and feeling good at shopping local. So, with this experience, I can absolutely recommend Seattle Laptop. A year or two after fixing an unrelated issue, I brought in my macbook that had lost its ability to charge the battery. I'd done all the basic diagnostics and sought help online https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7635944 and got suggestions to ask an Apple Genius Bar tech or seek out replacing the DC Input Board (a $10 part on ebay). When visiting an Apple store, they thought it could be either the battery itself or something on the motherboard. Not sure whether to try swapping parts myself with this inconclusive news, I took it back to Seattle Laptop to see what they could find. They quickly determined that it WAS just the DC Input Board and fixed it rapidly. It was more expensive than doing it myself but much less than Apple would have charged for swapping everything--and this way I also have greater assurance that nothing else is going wrong with its power flow. My computer has all kinds of problems but I can't be without it for a week to repair so dug out 3 old laptops and brought them in to see if any worked, if I'd found the right cords, etc so that I have a computer to use while they fix my main one. I worked with James (James worked and I stood there confused - I'm a true technoidiot) he was very kind and brought up the fact that, aside from needing to get one up and running for use while mine is fixed, I needed to take everything off of these computers before it all gets lost. Oh, duh. So he spent time explaining how to do that "OK you're going to have to talk to me like I'm stupid" he just smiled and slowed down and let me take notes. And they helped me know ways to save money - things I could do myself. They even let me borrow an old cord so I could get everything off of one of them before I have it recycled. Fixed my non functioning display on laptop with an over the counter consultation for free!

I was having a problem with my laptop battery charging to the point that I was ready to get a new computer. I took it to Seattle Laptop to see about getting it fixed. I had talked to my Costco Concierge service, who had me run a diagnostic program. The conclusion seemed to be that the battery needed to be replaced and Windows 11 uninstalled. Then Windows 10 installed again after a reset to factory specifications. I was after a written cost estimate for the battery job so the cost would be covered by my bank card. I explained the situation to someone on the staff. He wanted to look at a few things before going to that step. My computer fired right up, with a full 4 hours of battery charge. No other problems were apparent. I no longer saw a need to have my computer fixed because in their shop it was working fine. What pleasant, patient service I received! Thanks! read more

I went in to buy a used MacBook Pro due to me accidentally spilling water on my keyboard and seemingly killing the machine. Apple, and 2 other repair places, all said that the repair wasn't worth it, and that it'd be more cost-effective to buy another used one. I came in to Seattle Laptop to check out some of their used inventory---they seem to have quite a bit, at very fair prices. One of the employees, Dave, wanted to try powering up my machine before I bought another one. Miraculously, it turned on without a hitch, for the first time in 2 months. He easily could have just sold me another machine without telling me my original one powered up, but his integrity, honesty and desire to help me were above and beyond.
