They pointed me at DriveSavers, made a few very helpful recommendations, and refused my efforts to compensate them "because they were unable to fix my problem."

Instead of giving me the run-around, and keeping my computer longer than they needed, the took a look at it and came to a quick conclusion..KAPUT. I thought for sure they'd charge me for the estimate, but they didn't. The staff explained to me their conclusion to my predicament, and my options for recovering the data from my hard drive. The staff were also nice enough to refer me to a service with a discount code. And on top of everything they removed my hard drive and didn't charge me for their efforts. I know that when I do get my computer in the future, if I have any issues, this is the place for my computer repair needs.
