So many things to love about this huge park loaded with amenities and wildlife! It is great for all…read moreages! Our sons spent plenty of time on the playgrounds and nature trails when they were younger. They have also enjoyed pre-meet pasta parties with their UHS Track teams here as well as end of outdoor track season banquets. I exercise here often and really love all the wildlife I see regularly on the trails. Be sure to look down if you are running, though, as critters and insects tend to be on the paths and need a little help moving to a safer place. :) It is super nice to have this recreational spot in the midst of such a densely populated area. We live on the outskirts of Urbana so we have more land with our home but the district park continues to be one of my happy places to frequent!

This is a clean and beautifully manicured park. There are three covered pavilions, complete with…read moretwo grills and a half dozen long benches that were perfect for my family cookout. The one we were in was also close to the playground which looks as if it's brand new. I'm an adult, but those swings almost proved to be too tempting to resist. We were also situated in between several impressively kept ball fields, as well as a badminton net. There is ample parking, as well as several covered trash cans and a covered recycling bin in the picnic area. The bathrooms are reasonably clean for a public park (although I think one of the toilets may have been leaking water. Should probably fix that). Not a fan of the outdoors? No problem! They also offer free wifi. ;) #NetflixAndGrill

Pros of this dog park:…read more * The parking lot has never been full full to the point where I can't park * It's very close to my home (I know this is super subjective, but it's a huge pro for me) * There is a plentiful amount of benches for seating inside the park * There are two distinct areas to the park. One is a gravely are that is super long and narrow. The other is a grassy area that is open from April - November. The grassy area ( you can barely see from the parking lot) is where a majority of the dogs hang out I've noticed. There is even a small pavilion in this grassy area that benches for seating. And this grassy area is HUGE. If you want to really throw the ball with your dog and have your dog run around a big space, this grassy area is just for you. * There are multiple bag stations and several trash cans * Everyone I've met there is SO SO nice and I've definitely made some quick friends with some awesome peeps. Cons of this dog park: *They need to take the poop trash bags out of the trashcans more regularly. The past few times i've been... the smell was quite atrocious. And when the wind blows... well... it might be the only time where I'm hoping it's not a breezy day. *There's no separate area for smaller dogs. So if you have a wee tike of a dog, just know that there will be much bigger dogs running around that could possibly knock into your little one. Definitely a super solid dog park. I haven't been to MANY dog parks in the area. But I most definitely like this one leagues better than the Cabin John Dog Park. Next one I've gotta check out is King Farm. A lot of people from the park say that is a pretty solid one in the area.

bring own water! go pee before arrival (human owners)…read more still winterized (h2o pipe closed. 2and-all grass w WC closed until spring) but nice. mix of medium-large breeds of all ages. ones here now all pleasantly accompanied by attentive owners. looks like there's a 'happy hour' group of friendly regulars looks like some earlier patrons send their maids to pick up after their pets as I stepped on quite a few poop pies ...wish I could afford not to pick up after myself....
