Poor customer service, staff just chat, laugh loud and check their phones in the back while patients wait for a long time to get service.

When I made the appointment on June 4th, the person I spoke with said they take my insurance. When I arrived for the test on June 8th, I was told the test wasn't covered by insurance and was $69. Since I needed the test for school, I just paid the fee and it was a little lower than some other places. However, they should have told me at the time of booking so I could have been prepared to pay or go elsewhere. The bigger issue is that they haven't refunded the $50 fee I was charged when I filled out my information online. The online portal just asked for my card info but nowhere did it say I'd be charged a fee. When I went to get my results read on 6/10/26, I showed the receptionist a screenshot from my bank account and she said that was a no show fee and they would refund it since I showed up to my scheduled appointments. When I check my bank account two days later, I don't see the refund. I've made several calls and the people I talk to keep saying they'll look into the issue yet my bank account doesn't show the refund. One person I talked to said I shouldn't have been charged the NSF because I had a TB test, not appt. The person who did my TB test was friendly but I would not go back to City Health due to the above issues.

I was lucky I could see a doctor on the day I stopped in (I was told that they don't accept appointments, you have to walk in), because I did overhear several patients who were told to return the next day. So much for urgent care. If your schedule is flexible, bring something with you to pass the time, like a book to read. I ended up spending hours here. 11:30am: Walked in and gave my info. They also gave me a face mask because I couldn't stop coughing. I'm glad they had a spare to give to me. 1:30pm: Took about 2 hours before a nurse finally ran a flu and covid test on me. 3:00pm: FINALLY saw a doctor. She was very nice, and gave me prescriptions to pick up at my pharmacy later. 3:19pm: Dismissed and good to go, and given a doctor's note to excuse me from work. It's located close to the Kaiser Hospital near Marina Blvd. For clarity, this urgent center is not a Kaiser center, in case if there's confusion.

I arrived at 9:50 to check in and the lady had to take my pre-employement physical authorization code back to her manager to ask if they could do the physical today. BUT WHY WOULD YOU SCHEDULE SOMEONE FOR AN APPOINTMENT, if you were not sure if you had the time to do a physical for a employer? Why even contract out if you're too busy to do physicals in the first place? She came back and said they could do the physical today. She said it was a 2-3 hour wait. I asked her about my appointment, and she said it doesn't matter. So if you're doing a pre-employment physical, an appointment won't matter. I asked if I could leave for an hour and come back, and she said no since I also needed to do a drug test for my job. I sat in the waiting room and waited. Surely they'll go in order of whoever arrived first, but nope. Physicals are the lowest priority, so you'll sit there while everyone else gets called back. Including people who arrived hours after you. Bring snacks and something to do. They have a water dispenser and a Keurig with no pods or coffee cups.

When I was there with the flu simply to get a script for Tamiflu. Why was she even trying to invalidate my migraine and dental infection diagnoses!! Sutter sent me a feedback form the next day. I filled it out with my experience and said I needed a call back from them to discuss. No call back. I called Sutter a week or two later, and the person told me to fill out a form on the patient relations site in order to try again to get a call back. I did. I STILL haven't been contacted by them. I called them today (the number on their patient relations site) and asked to speak with patient relations. They sent me to primary care, who told me there is no way they can connect me with patient relations. They told me they would transfer me to urgent care. I said I don't want to be transferred to urgent care. I want to be transferred to patient relations. The person then transferred me to urgent care against my explicit request, and the urgent care person is now giving me the phone number to contact patient relations, which is exactly where I called to end up in this cluster fu*k!! And then the urgent care person threatened to hang up on me when I tried to explain my complaints. And then she did hang up on me when I was answering her question of what number I had originally called. This is sooooo disrespectful. Riddle me this: How on earth can there be no way for a PATIENT to be put in contact with PATIENT FRIGGIN RELATIONS?! And why would you make your patient relations number a disrespectful maze of rude people passing you along and then asking you to keep doing that in perpetuity. (I've now been on the line with them for 30 mins+, and this is my fourth attempt to give feedback. All while I am sick in bed with the disease the urgent care Dr was disputing I have. This is one example of how the healthcare system makes the sick sicker and gets away with migraine stigma. @sutterhealth - you now have me making three complaints instead of one.

I also worked…read morein the healthcare industry and would like to have compassion for other healthcare workers, but this doctor is definitely not a people person. Due to both arms and my right elbow injury, his diagnosis was that it was due to my bone structure and genetic makeup. This was new to me since I had never heard that before. I am a larger guy, I don't use my hands and arms for strenuous work, healthy, and work out 3x/week with an experienced coach--nothing out of the ordinary. Working with thousands of people in healthcare and other fields, we come across many different ailments, injuries, and stories. At first, I took it as new education and considered that perhaps my DNA structure and genetics were contributing to my injury and pain. I mentioned this to colleagues, other doctors at work, and experienced professionals, and they said they had never heard of this before. While not completely ruled out, it was unusual. 3rd visit: After receiving my MRIs and X-rays, I showed up for my appointment and waited close to 2 hours, which is excessive considering it was scheduled. When I was called in, Dr. Stein did not greet me and instead commented about having to skip his lunch break due to a busy day. I understand demanding schedules, but there was no acknowledgment that patients are also taking time out of their lives--missing work, managing responsibilities, and traveling to appointments. A simple courtesy call from staff to let me know he was running behind would have gone a long way. Yet, I remained calm and open-minded. When I went in, I asked if he could check my other arm, as I had started experiencing soreness. He immediately dismissed it, saying nothing would show up and did not examine it. Within a week, that same arm developed increased pain and numbness, despite avoiding heavy use and refraining from working out. I've met many professionals like Dr. Stein, and it was clear that his level of expertise contributes to an ego that comes across as dismissive. He appeared rushed and condescending during all visits. When I had a few additional questions to better understand the procedure he said he only had limited time to answer. After waiting over 2 hours, I would expect at least 15 minutes of clear communication before a procedure that carries risks. I understand his practice is a business, but business also requires trust, communication, and respect. Patients want to feel confident in the person operating on them. Comments he made about preferring certain insurance because they paid more were unprofessional. Regardless, he may not get paid as much as other insurance companies, but he's going to get a paid a large sum for the surgery. While I believe he has the technical ability to perform surgery, I am not comfortable with someone who is rushed and potentially distracted. If appointments are rushed, it raises concern about the level of care during procedures. And he may even rush through the surgery to get to another appointment or procedure, which leaves more room for error. The reality is doctors cannot guarantee outcomes, but they are responsible for proper care, communication, and follow-up. Once you sign surgical paperwork, you waive many rights--even in cases of error. If there were stronger accountability systems, I believe Dr. Andrew Stein would treat others with more respect. I am aware there are legal avenues if something goes wrong, but I would prefer not to be in that position due to lack of accountability or care. His staff appeared disengaged and under pressure. I've worked in environments where teams create a welcoming atmosphere--this did not feel like one. The way he spoke to his staff suggested stress and tension. It seems like a 50/50 chance of a smooth and full recovery without complications from him and his staff. After reading additional reviews, my experience seems consistent with others, which validated my instincts to seek another surgeon who felt more respectful. *To previous and future patients: trust your observations and instincts. If Andrew Stein feels like the right fit, he may help you. If not, you have options. Sometimes going a little further for the right provider makes all the difference. Appreciate everyone who has shared their honest experiences.
