Walk in for a DOT physical, I was told "an hour from registration" which was at 11:45 am, it is now 2:00 pm and now I'm told there are 3 people ahead of me. Granted, I didn't have an appoint, but come on, an hour is now going on 2 and a half hours and I'm still sitting in the waiting room? And I'M the one who is made to feel like an inconvenience when I check how much longer? My company has over 12,000 employees, you can bet that I will see to it that Concentra is stricken from their allowed list! I wish I could leave zero stars!

Concentra Urgent Care was my "go-to" clinic for several long years, before they changed over to Concentra and back when they were still "Urgi-Care of RI." Between 2008 through very recently this year, if I had an acute ailment, I would usually hit these peeps up since they accepted my insurance and, I believed, their service was exemplary. Unfortunately my recent couple experiences were less than satisfactory bordering on dangerous. Firstly, a word of note: due to many complicated reasons, until this past summer I did not have a primary doctor. While I certainly don't enjoy doctor visits, I will stop by if I'm truly ill or have an injury that I -know- is too much for me to handle on my own. (You will never, ever see me call a doctor for a sniffle or a bruised pinky.) That being said, toward the end of August I developed a rather nasty cough. After making a couple calls to the primary doc, it was clear between my wonky hours at work and their office hours, there'd be no way I could get in. So I stopped by Urgent Care. After roughly a two and a half hour wait, a friendly doctor saw me, albeit briefly, who diagnosed me with a sinus infection and loaded me up with antibiotics. Alrighty. By the beginning of September the cough disappeared but the fever, headaches remained: I also started to get severe pains, muffled hearing and a popping noise in my left ear. Which is where the fun started. Again, due to balancing work, my primary still wasn't able to get me in so again, I went back to Urgent Care on a late, Sunday afternoon. After yet another $50 copay and two hour wait, a nurse practitioner saw me. Briefly saw me. ...I can't even begin to describe how she made me feel in that room. Speaking to me in a patronizing tone, she said (in a nut shell) I had a tiny bit of an ear infection developing and there was -nothing- that could be done. She winded up prescribing me an ear drop, providing nothing further for the infection or at the very least, terrible pain. I used the ear drops as directed and to make an insanely long story short, after 4 days of doing so, the ear pain became so intense and severe, I lost my hearing completely on that side. Upon going elsewhere to be seen, it turned out I was prescribed the -wrong- medication for an entirely different condition and thanks to what I was given, the infection was actually made far worse, damaging my hearing. ....What she diagnosed me as having was way off. It's been over two months now and I'm only -just- getting better. Upon reflection of my past visits, service had always been spotty. Since my first stop in, my husband had clearly voiced his opinion that he didn't care for the way they handled patients there however I still continued to defend them as many of the doctors at least in the past appeared to be caring. He was absolutely right. Yes it's a clinic, but an expensive clinic and as a paying patient, I certainly would expect an appropriate level of service. Yes, their reception is friendly, yes their remodeling interior is comfy and clean but when you get down to it, it's not worth paying the price to play Russian Roulette with your health. At this point, I would much rather go to the Urgent Care in Lincoln.

I really didn't want to go and sit in the ER so a nurse friend of mine told me what to do to keep my hand safe until I could go to urgent care in the morning. I made an appointment at CareWell on their website and immediately got a text confirmation. When I arrived the next morning, they were totally ready for me. They greeted me, gave me an iPad to fill out my info, and took my into the room immediately. I was seen in only a couple of minutes after getting into the room, and the NP was super nice, caring, and helpful. She helped me treat my hand, and went to great lengths to find alternative medications for me since I was allergic to their burn ointment of choice. It was a fast and easy appointment and I was in and out in about 20 minutes. They're opening one in Seekonk, closer to where I live, and I will definitely visit for any urgent care needs in the future. I am so impressed.

I was short of breath from the coughing and had constant nasal drip. The PA said it was an acute upper respiratory infection. She said then I could just continue with the over the counter cough medications that I am taking. I did go ahead and take the prescription for the pearl drops. i asked if there was something else that she could give me and she said it would have to run its course. My husband was there with me because he has been sick with the same symptom. When she saw him she gave him an antibiotic and the pearl drops for his cough. I am not at all happy that I was not given an antibiotic as well. Hopefully he will be well soon but I am afraid I will be fighting g this for a while longer! I will not go back to this place! I wasted two hours of my time and the money for my office visit!

This second time prompted me to write a positive review for two reasons. 1-had two visits for health issue with 10 previous days, but was let go as being fine. But reality was that I was in fact far from fine. The nurse practitioner was the one to figure this out . I would guess because she listened and figured that additional testing was required. I had already had ekg before this visit, but she decided to do X-ray too. She still wanted more information so then got blood tests. End result was that the two last tests showed I have s serious problem. So now we can move forward with healing and not prolong the misery. Was given prescription for first step, and will follow advice and make subsequent appointments til it's resolved. So glad I bit the bullet and came here as I hate going to medical appointments. 2- I can't tell you what a massive relief it was to be able to get all these tests done on-site and get results right away. So much better than trying to get seen at separate facilities and waste more time driving and in waiting to be seen. Important note: everyone from front desk + technicians are very professional, so competent and kind. It's a very comfortable environment. Kudos to NPs I've seen here-smartest people who actually listen, test, and make sure you understand what is going on. Patience is a virtue indeed-so important when you're sick &exhausted. Finally I have to repeat what a relief it was to go to such a well-equipped operation. For those who care about appearances, yes it all looks brand new, clean and well designed. There is ramp near handicap parking for walker or wheelchair.

Kent Hospital - Confirmed HEART ATTACK but discharged as "chest pain"

I want to start with a full disclosure because I think it's important. I'm a physician in a…read moresurgical subspecialty, but I have never been affiliated with Kent Hospital or any hospital in Rhode Island. I don't have privileges here, I don't work here, and I have no professional connection to the organization whatsoever. My perspective is simply that of a physician whose family member recently became a patient. To say I came away impressed would be an understatement. Like many healthcare professionals, I tend to notice the little things. How efficiently people communicate. Whether nurses seem supported. How quickly diagnostic studies are performed. Whether the physicians appear engaged. Those details often tell you far more about a hospital than any glossy brochure ever could. From the moment my relative arrived, everything moved with remarkable efficiency. The Emergency Department was organized, the staff remained calm despite what appeared to be a busy day, and there was a genuine sense that everyone knew their role. We never felt forgotten, and there was always someone willing to answer questions. If the person we asked didn't have the answer, they found someone who did instead of giving us the runaround. That level of communication is something every hospital should strive for. The nursing staff deserves special recognition. They were attentive, compassionate, and incredibly professional. They balanced kindness with confidence, which is reassuring for both patients and families. The physicians were equally impressive, taking the time to explain their thought process and discuss the plan of care in language everyone could understand. As a physician, I was also struck by how quickly ancillary services were able to turn things around. Diagnostic imaging was performed promptly, laboratory and pathology results were available surprisingly fast, and there never seemed to be unnecessary delays in moving the evaluation forward. That kind of efficiency doesn't happen by accident. It reflects good systems and good leadership. The hospital itself isn't the newest facility you'll ever walk into, but it's clean, well maintained, and clearly cared for. I'd much rather see a hospital invest in excellent people and efficient patient care than marble floors and fancy artwork in the lobby. From environmental services to patient transport, every employee we encountered was courteous and took pride in what they were doing. I also noticed that the Emergency Department appears to be undergoing expansion, and that's genuinely encouraging. Based on what I experienced, this is a hospital worth investing in. Kent has a reputation that some people still associate with years gone by. In my opinion, that reputation no longer reflects reality. Hospitals evolve, leadership changes, and cultures improve. Based on this experience, Kent deserves to be judged on what it is today, not what it may have been years ago. I don't hand out praise lightly, especially when it comes to healthcare. I spend my career inside hospitals, so my expectations are probably higher than most people's. Kent exceeded them. If my family ever needed hospital care again in Rhode Island, I would feel entirely comfortable bringing them here. Outstanding work by everyone involved.

And of course, they won't accept any out-of-state insurance or any insurance not on a short list of insurance networks. Which is probably why I later got a bill for X-rays neither taken or agreed to. They were probably trying to commit insurance fraud but since I don't have insurance and I know for a fact that I didn't have X-rays taken or agreed to be taken, they're out of luck.
