Once you go to Salvo, you won't want to go anywhere else. He has the patience of a saint (I get super scared anytime I have to cut my hair) and always does the most amazing work. He's a perfectionist. He's transformed my hair quite a few times. From caramel balayage to blonde, there is no one better. I have converted my friends to believers as well - I have even recommended my male friends to get haircuts by Salvo and they too are believers now. His work is nothing short of art. In regards to the service in the salon, Salvo has only the best employees. I have neck issues so I can't bend backwards into the sink for washing, but his staff is always friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The place is always spotless and the receptionists are always professional. If you are driving here, there is convenient street parking out front. If you are venturing here from the city, no worries... it is totally worth the trip. My shortest piece of hair was about two inches (the sides) and the Mohawk part had grown to about 6 inches. It looked BAD! My self esteem was in the gutter and I was having major hairstyle regrets. But I had been checking out the Toushe social media and loved the looks coming out of the salon and I was hopeful that they could do SOMETHING to help me look better. When I went in for my consultation Maggie took time to help me decide what type of extensions would be best on my VERY short and very fine hair. We decided on tape ins which she expertly matched to my color. She chose a mix of dark brown and medium brown for the most natural look. On the day of the application I was nervous but Maggie was confident that she could transform my look. I'm telling you, she is a miracle worker. Not only did she put the extensions in so that they're completely seamless and perfectly blended but she also gave me an amazing custom cut and style. I'm pretty low maintenance and only go to a salon twice a year for a trim, and everything else I would do myself including color. I live in the neighborhood and have passed by, and saw their website and decided to book. According to their website, to sign up online for a single color, shampoo & blow dry would be $60 a month. They tried to tell me that wasn't correct and their website is still new and their price is more, however they did honor the price I paid because they saw the confirmation email they sent me. The other thing I didn't like was that she made me book my appointment for next month while I was there, even though I told her I didn't want to do that. I was just trying it out and not sure if I would come back, and also would rather make my own appointment when I could go home and look at my calendar without pressure and book at my own time. I don't know what I will have going on a month from now and don't think I should be forced to commit to that now. She said I could always change it but I still thought that was pushy, and I will not be attending that appointment. I could understand if they were a salon that fills up quickly, but when I booked this first apportionment I did it the same day and there were many openings and no other customers even came in while I was there, and their book was wide open as well. The other thing I am unsatisfied with is the color job itself. This is the most important thing, and I would've overlooked all these other things if I was happy with the end result. When I got home I noticed all these patches still streaked with gray that she missed. I do a better job when I dye my hair myself, I never miss patches like this (especially in the front/top). It also comes out a blacker/shinier color when I do it myself. I feel like she didn't use a dark enough color, as I told her I wanted it dark, the blackest black and it seems like she either used a dark brown or soft black. But again the part I'm most annoyed about and the reason I won't be going back and for my negative review, are all the gray strands I still can see. (I keep trying to upload a pic taken less then 2 days after I received these services where you can clearly still see streaks of gray in my hair, but the photo keeps disappearing)
