I got my haircut service at Oshuns Crowns at that location and it was a disaster. I paid for a…read morehaircut but instead my hair was chopped off and not styled.

I found the stylist I used through TikTok and cross checking reviews. But what drew me to sign up…read morewas the fact her location was in an area that I frequent and wasn't as hard for me to reach. It is very close to the Borough Hall train station, close to Jay Street- Metrotech and various other buses and public forms of transport. In fact, I thought the salon was a general spa as opposed to a salon suite of different hairdressers and beauty services. I am used to this type of establishment because I had a hairstylist who worked in a similar space when I lived outside of NYC. There are various ways to enter. My hairstylist gave me a code to enter and you can either call for the stylist to get you up or you can get a QR code. The lobby to the salons are on the first floor while the actual booths are on the second floor. There are stairs and an elevator. There are multiple couches and comfy benches on the second floor so you can wait for your appointment. There are stations for coffee and tea that my stylist told me to take advantage of. There is artwork all over and the color scheme makes it not sterile but not too bright. There is a vending machine onsite but since the location is close to many eateries (chopt is next door) you don't have to worry about access. I had a great time with my stylist Lilian. She came on time. She asked me questions about my desires and goals and gave me recommendations that I can use in my free time. I look forward to using her services in the future.

She is incredibly sweet, professional, and made me feel so comfortable throughout the entire appointment. This was my first time with her at this place, and I'll definitely be coming back! I am conflicted about leaving this review because their policy of offering free haircuts to cancer…read morepatients, which I am, is compassionate, but they totally messed up my hair and helping isn't helping when you ruin an already challenged head of hair on someone already struggling. After keeping me waiting for more than 40 minutes, my stylist didn't want to cut the back of my hair but took off two inches more than I wanted her to on the front and it's totally uneven and sloppy. Then to fix a bad color job, she put a "gloss" on me for $160 that did absolutely nothing. She acknowledged it did absolutely nothing and offered to do it again. I should have stopped her but thought she understood how delicate my hair is and assumed she was comfortable that her gloss was mild enough to use on me twice. Well, her gloss was not at all mild and a bunch of my hair broke off and I'm just distraught. I emailed the salon several times and they have not responded. I asked to communicate with the owner but heard nothing. Again, free help isn't free if your hair is ruined. Good intentions don't count when compromised hair that doesn't grow normally is treated like normal hair. And really, a gloss or any color treatment shouldn't have to be done twice. I'm really upset and paid $240 with tip to have my hair break off.
