Shannon Medical Center should honor their commitment to care for their patients.  My provider did…read morenot fill a prescription before leaving so I was told that I had to come in to get that prescription refilled, but that I would not be charged.  I came in as requested and that doctor told me that it wasn't necessary for me to come in to have that prescription filled.  Shannon used this as an opportunity to file my insurance unnecessarily and bill me the balance.  When I called Shannon to dispute the charges, they said since I came in there was nothing they could do.  The doctor himself told me I didn't need to come in to get that RX refilled.  Shannon only has Shannon's interests at heart as I had to drive 2 hours and then be billed for something that my provider should have taken care of originally.   I am transferring my care immediately as I feel that since I started seeing them in July 2025 it has been nothing but a joke as this has just been one of the many problems I have had with them.

I don't want to dissuade anyone from using Concho Valley ER. I've come here for the past two years…read more Once, I came in for a headache and they found that I needed my spleen removed. They are usually extremely thorough and caring and curious to your condition to help find the proper diagnosis. I love this place and all its staff. Yesterday at 3 AM I came in with strep. My test result was negative because it was too early to test positive. Dr. Hamilton was my doctor and asked what brought me in. When I said I have strep, he said, "no you don't. You have a sore throat." He did not ask me a single question of why I thought I had strep, what symptoms I was having. He told me INCORRECTLY that I did not have strep. I have no spleen. Strep is the most dangerous thing I can catch without a spleen. It would have been detrimental to my health if I had listened to him and not taken antibiotics and went home without treatment. From what I understand, a doctor doesn't like a patient diagnosing themselves. I have strep so often, I get it multiple times a year, I often know I have it before I test positive. He was not looking for the context on why I knew I had it, he didn't care at all. I didn't stand up for myself or tell him these things because he made me feel so little, he didn't ask, he kept talking without curiosity and rather with criticism, and told me that they "can't prescribe antibiotics every time I have a sore throat." There was eggsudate in my throat he refused to acknowledge. Not that he was going to check in the first place, I brought it up first, handed him my own phones flashlight, and he claimed it was just irritation. I promise you there was already a white patch by my to tonsils at this point- I had checked before I went to the ER. It's now 29 hours later and my throat is white. I have a temperature of 99 and body aches. If I went into the urgent care I would test positive in a second. 29 hours ago I had strep, and in this second I have strep. The only difference is the rapid test result. He did end up prescribing me antibiotics after he felt my lymph nodes but he did not tell me nor acknowledge that he could be wrong, that I could have strep, or that it could be anything at all! He simply said "you have one inflamed lymph node, let me send off a culture" and those were his last words to me. The inflamed lymph node by the way was on the side with the eggsudate in my throat. A nurse handled the rest of the interaction with the care and respect that you'd expect a doctor to have. I have never left a review anywhere but if Dr. Hamilton is your doctor at 3 AM, be prepared for him to let his mood interfere with his professional duties. I think that this doctor's mistake and ego could've really injured me. I can't imagine working 24 hour shifts or being woken up and expected to deal with patients. But I was scared and hurting and all I wanted was him to help me, not sing and dance and do backflips.

I can't believe we weren't allowed to bring food into the room, as we were there for hours and he wasn't having any sort of procedure that would keep him from being able to eat. Each of the (nurses? medical assistants?) yelled at us at least once, either for the food or just "Can I help you?" "What do you want?" type of statements as we moved between the lobby and the room. All in all, if you can go somewhere else, do. The exception is the nurse, Heather, who was very sweet, helpful, and professional.

I was a cardiac patient two weeks ago, after suffering a heart attack. The entire cath lab team and…read moremy cardiologist were at the hospital in 30 minutes (this was around 2:30am). The cath lab team gave me two stents and a temporary pacemaker that morning, and they gave me permanent pacemaker the next morning. Every single member of the cath lab team, my cardiologist, every single ICU nurse, and each 4W nurse I had were wonderful. They were all cheerful, empathetic, confident, reassuring, and sharp as a tack. I returned a couple weeks later for a final stent, and I received the same care again from the cath lab team, doctor, and day surgery/recovery nurses. I'll probably forget someone, but these cath lab folks were exemplary: Tim, Nate, Christopher, Lane, Chantelle, "Earl," and Lori. If I left anyone out, it's on me. They were ALL wonderful .

However, I recently received care at the hospital, and also by Dr. Wiley who is located at this address. Both were top notch. The staff were friendly at both places and compassionate. Full disclosure, I do work at the hospital, but when you have a medical emergency, you become the patient and no matter what you know, it is different and you are concerned about what is going on with you. I love this hospital and all it stands for. I know the staff and leaders care about this community and want to provide the very best. I definitely recommend them; so much so I'll be going back for another week or so. I trust them.
