I cannot say enough on how great Dr.Jay and his team were. I can truly say that I had a positive, transformational dental experience. While I have been Dr. Jay's care for more than twenty years, I found myself needing an implant and a crown. (While I wish I could say there was another way but I knew this was coming. I had simply have been postponing it for some time. Now I could no longer do that.) Dr. Jay took the time to explain in detail what has happened and showed me what needed to be done. Was I apprehensive? Yes, but somehow I felt reassured as he explained how it would all work out. When the work began, it was done with care -- and somehow time flowed quickly and easily -- and I experienced amazing teamwork. Dr. Glazer and Melisaa was able to handle my tooth and crown work -- and placed temporary in a snap. (I know I had anesthetic but I think their conversation -- and care -- kept me going in good spirits.) Paperwork? Sara had it all handled. Follow ups? Got follow up call from Lenai and Maria over few days -- and Dr. Jay even! For extraction and implant, I was referred to Dr. Moldovan. Teresa called and found me a time available right away -- within a day!. You could say she sent me sent me upstairs -- fast. And... I think that process was the easiest extraction I have ever had! (Prior one was done years ago by another Periodontist -- from another group which I will not name here.) My tooth extraction and implant was done in a single visit! And no complications! Dr. Moldovan and her team made it seem effortless. Many friends have warned me how things could go wrong and what not -- but no problems here. (I can definitely say that quality makes a difference for sure.) When I told my friends, they were amazed. As of today, I got my temporary crown replaced with the actual one. And as you can imagine, it went great. (Thank you Jennifer.) I don't think it's possible to have something negative to say about this place. It's the cleanest, most well put together office I have ever been in. The staff is nice, friendly and understanding and I have yet to have any sort of problem. Initially, it seemed like insurance was going to fight me/them on the cost and I was really afraid I was going to have to pay thousands of dollars for the work I had to have done...I even got slightly frustrated on the phone with someone in the front office. They have taken care of it and dealt with it completely. They prioritize your care over the bill and Dr. Jay is the nicest. I usually have lacking experiences with doctors and related medical folk but this is the most positive experience I have had with a doctor in my adult life. I have been a patient of Dr. Grossman for 10 years and could not be happier! His whole office and staff are amazing. They have gone above and beyond for me. I was always afraid of going to the dentist, until I found this office. I have had a lot of dental procedures done (crowns, implants, gum grafts) and always had a great experience. Dr. Grossman is very caring and extremely knowledgeable. It is great to have a dentist that you can trust 1000%. He recently treated my son as well and helped him a lot with a painful wisdom tooth, while avoiding an unnecessary extraction, which we were so grateful for. Dr. Grossman's office is definitely the best when it comes to dental care! I haven't had the pleasure of his being my dentist yet but who I do see is Dr. Barry Weichman, the endodontist. Whenever you hear "root canal", you tense up, your brain freezes and your blood pressure skyrockets! Not here! Dr. Weichman (and his assistant Natalie) put you at ease, make it painless for you and keep you laughing! If you have to have a root canal, this is where you should have it! People move; I used to live in Brentwood and now I live in DC. AHH!!! And now, it's been 1.5 years since I saw Dr. Awful and I haven't been told by any dentist that I have a cavity. Mr. "if you don't fill these in 3 weeks you will be in a lot of pain." And here I am 1.5 years later still getting bashed by this guy saying I'm a "competitor". I bought a Bloomspot deal for teeth whitening for Jay Grossman. $99, not bad, right? Well nothing was horrible, just meh. My teeth looked a little bit whiter but I'm really glad it was only $99 I spent on that because it really wasn't worth a penny more. The lady who applied the whitening was very sweet and helpful. I would give her 5 stars. Anyways, so I finish up and they ask me to wait so Dr. Grossman could come by and say hello and take a look at my teeth. 5 minutes later he comes over and I literally open my mouth for less than 3 seconds and he's like "CAVITY, CAVITY, you have at least 2 cavities. Oh and you need invisalign." I sat up shocked, considering I have never had a cavity IN MY LIFE and had just been to the dentist the month before with a great check up. So he takes me into his office and gives me his whole rant about my teeth and is trying to sell me on him being my dentist. I don't know, it just didn't seem genuine or real to me. It seemed like he was trying to scare me into being his client but it didn't work. Also FYI about the teeth whitening - IT HURTS. I ended up having to leave work early that day because my mouth and teeth felt like I had razor blades severing my nerves. I got a screamin' deal on Groupon for Sapphire teeth whitening. The office is top tier from the time you walk in to the time you leave with your brilliant white smile. Tanya did my procedure and was absolutely focused on my comfort and precision when it came to applying the sunscreen for my gums. She came by to check on me to make sure I didn't need anything and that I was comfortable. Dr. Grossman came in to check out my teeth and not once did he try to push any dental treatment on me. This is a great place, that does great things! Dr. Grossman has a program called Homeless not Toothless which does dental treatment for the homeless. If you donate $200 to the Homeless not Toothless program your whitening procedure is free and you can write your donation off on your taxes. While the people in the office are friendly, the prices they charge are borderline price gauging. Even after I paid the $178 for my initial cleaning, $200 for arrestin (something they told me I needed for healthy gums) and $258 for a filling (most of which was out of pocket), they came after me (seriously a year later) to pay the remaining balance ($50) caused by a higher deductible than they'd anticipated. It is this sort of lack of transparency in pricing that really bothers me... I'll never go back to these people for any dental work, nor will i suggest you go there either. Luckily I have since found a really good dentist in Santa Monica & have been happy as hell w/ the cleanings, crown and other services they provide. Don't go here... unless you want to get ripped off. Find a dentist who will quote a reasonable price, get preauthorization from your insurance provider and go with it. read more

I went to Dr. Jay when I first moved here. I brought with me all my dental records from Boston (about 10 years worth). He said I needed a filling or two replaced. His assistant asked him a question just as he was about to shoot me with novocaine. I guess he talks with his hands because he was waiving the needle around and almost novocained my chest! Seriously. He pricked my shirt with the needle and didn't even notice! He just kept talking about what a great dentist he was and his celebrity clientele. He mentioned that from my xrays he thought the second filling replacement was too big of a filling and he would need to do a root canal. That scared me so I decided to get a second opinion at USC Faculty practice just in case. Guess what? Not only did I not need the root canal, the filling was fine! To this day it's still fine(it's been about 8 years). The USC doc joked "Maybe he just wanted you to pay for his new car." When I went back to his office to pick up my records all they gave me was one sheet of paper! I asked where the rest was and they said they didn't have them. I had hand delivered them on my first visit! Total schiester. He's too wrapped up in his image and doesn't provide professional or quality care. read more

I was sent to Jay Grossman by a injury lawyer for a dental malpractice. Dr. Grossman agreed to be an "expert witness". This is what he did. FIRST THING. Credit Card. Then proceeded to charge me $900. This was his fee to be an "expert witness", testify, and deliver his dental report. So after the credit card was processed, He endured an insincere 10 minute meeting, and he didn't even look in my mouth. After that "consultation" he called my lawyer and declined to be an "expert witness". DR. GROSSMAN KEPT THE $900. Grossman knew in advance he was not going to take the case, but saw an easy $900. I spent over $10,000 in bad dental work, and was looking for someone to help me get my teeth fixed correctly. Grossman simply saw the cash. read more

I had been seeing Dr. Grossman for a couple years. I go to him for all my cleanings, and I've gotten a couple cavities filled. I also have 2 immediate family members that have been seeing him for years. On my last visit, he told me it wasn't worthwhile for me to be his patient if I wasn't going to get invisalign, because he only makes "12 dollars" per cleaning after paying his hygienist. This came out of nowhere, I was shocked, and I'm not making any of this up. I have written this review three times, but Dr. Jay must delete it every time because it disappears. But as many times as you remove this Dr. Jay, I will come back and re-write it, so that the people who still have a soul know what's most important to you. read more

I went in w my Groupon for teeth whitening. Everyone from front desk to the hygienist who did the procedure was diligent, friendly and professional. First dr Grossman saw me and checked my teeth. Then he gave me the schpiel in a nice way. Yes they do the groupons to get new customers but they also deliver legit results w the service. My teeth came out noticeably whiter, much better than the trays I have at home with the gel. I am happy. And I will do my next teeth cleaning and checkup with him. read more

Ive been Going to Dr. Jay for a few years now on and off, well actually about 25 years on and off .I have watched him grow into an amazing Dentist as well as an amazing human being. It goes without saying that the two should go hand in hand. I really dread the Dentist, but I find his approach and skill to steady my nerves and make it "somewhat" of a nice experience, considering I really dread my appointments. I recently started invisalign on the recommendation of one of his hygienist's. One of the best decisions I have ever made. My teeth are beautiful. I also had Dr. Jay fix my front teeth that were chipping off. He implanted four veneers, that to the trained eye look natural. I even ended up breaking a veneer and Dr. Jay fixed it free of charge, no questions asked. I highly recommend him for all basic and complex dental work. His office is state of the art. His Staff is wonderful. He is always willing to take the time to answer all of your questions......But the really great thing I like about Dr. Jay is him. I have been witness to how he treats his staff and I have to say. I would work for him. The respect and dignity he shows them is refreshing and terrific, not to mention, if you pay attention to the literature on the walls, it appears he plans outings for them for team building and a little R-n-R. I asked one of the gals about it and she stated that Dr. Jay picks up the tab for all including spouses sometimes. To me this shows a Man that relizes his success and know who contributed to it. there is so much i can say about dr jay grossman and all his staff, and the only thing i can say is to share my experience, i came in to his oficce about 2 years ago and i was resign about me ever have to smile again with out being shy of how my teeth look like, i had spaces in my teeth and a bad cheap crown, that i had replace 6 times in 20 years and it just never look natural. i lost hope on trusting the 7 dentist that could do a miracle on my crown and i found god disguise as dr jay and in a period of 3 months i had invasalign and new spanky beautiful teeth. i didnt have insurance so i use a program call care credit for two years was interest free and when my crown broke dr jay took me in and repace it with a stronger case and the same beauty at no extra charge and did my invasalign again at no extra charge. today i am the best of me and i laught like never before and my confidence sky rocket, i come back every 3 to 4 months to get my regular cleanings and the doctors and nurses here have angel hands specialy the one that did my crown. thank you all. dr jay is the founder of homeless not toothless where homeless and kids in foster homes get their teeth fix for free to go back into society and be productive again and kids to know they matter and that there is people that care to be good citizens in this country. thank you dr jay and staff. read more

UPDATE: I wanted to reply to Dr. Grossman's response. I really appreciate your thoughtful and detailed response. I wanted to note that I didn't receive a follow up with pictures discussing care, just a single page billing statement for Invisalign without discussion. I may have misunderstood the $49 part, my apologies -- I believe I'm still waiting for the bill by mail, the 300 figure was what I saw printed in the office. I think maybe your office could just be more upfront with what the Groupon really entails in terms of required cleanings and x rays as well as the associated risks from uv ORIGINAL REVIEW Honestly, the worst dental experience I have ever had. I'm not sure why mine differs so much from the reviews below. I bought a Groupon for teeth whitening (maybe this is why) and set up an appointment. First, the staff told me, I should come in for a cleaning. Since it's been a few years, I agreed, but when they suggested x rays, I said those didn't seem necessary and that I don't want things to get too costly. A bit of background: I've been very lucky to inherit my moms cavity free teeth. The last dentist I saw said I prob didn't need a cleaning for the next 5 years. When I got to the office for the cleaning, the X-rays were pushed hard by staff. When I said I didn't think they were necessary, one of women asked me something like "are you afraid of the practice of dental medicine?" Another lady told me it was a good way to screen for cancer (of the mouth?). Finally, I agreed, which is on me, of course, but the bill came out later to $300. The actual cleaning seemed to be an extended sales pitch for Invisalign. Photos of my mouth were taken (is this necessary for whitening? They were never shown to me). Much of the "cleaning" involved measuring and recording the space between my gums and my teeth, which I think tests for gum disease. There was no use of toothpaste that I could tell. The gum measurements were used to recommend expensive deep cleaning. I told them that I am not interested in Invisalign or the deep cleaning. About five days later I came for the whitening. Other than a waiver there was no explanation of what was happening or what to expect. The staff seemed genuinely annoyed by my presence. I was left alone in a room for an hour while my teeth became increasingly painful and I drooled because I wasn't sure if I could swallow the hydrogen peroxide - perhaps there was a way to call the assistant? I looked around to try to find some way. After an hour, she came back and was startled that my glasses had shifted away from my eyes. "Did you do that", I was asked accusingly. I didn't realize the glasses were supposed to protect me against uv light (judge me for being ignorant, fine) and the assistant asked me if I was "seeing spots" and that I could have permanently damaged my eyes. My mouth in much pain, I didn't know what to say, so I just followed her to the front desk. The lady at the front desk just stared at me until I realized I was supposed to leave. There were never any instructions provided of what not to eat, drink, etc. I received an email the next day, which I thought might be patient follow up but was instead a detailed billing plan for $6,000 worth of invisalign care we had supposedly "talked about". Truly unbelievable. I wrote back that I was worried about the effects of the uv light because my goggles had been exposing my eyes for much of the treatment and they said the dr would follow up.I did indeed receive a call a few days later from the office but I have yet to reply I just don't think anything can be said to make the above better. read more

I am a total scardy cat at the dentist. The sounds of the drills just petrify me. So, not only is his office totally state of the art, the staff are all wonderful, I had the best cleaning in years and then got the dreaded news that I had a couple of cavities. But, not to worry, he says. They have a laser that will get the cavities out and it's completely painless with no Novocaine. What?!? I'm a little skeptical, but that is exactly what happened. Not only was Dr. Grossman's staff friendly and helpful, but the service I received was first-rate. Dr. Grossman took the time to carefully examine my mouth, listen to my specific needs & ultimately offered me economical/expert solutions for my gum issues. Also good to note, that while I suffer from EXTREMELY sensitive teeth, Dr. Grossman's gentle examination of my mouth left me with ZERO discomfort afterwards. I've never experienced this before. Found out I had a cavity, he discussed the price with me ahead of time, went back to have it filled and I was in the office for less than 20 minutes and only spent $150!!! Dr. Glazer has been taking very good care of me even since before I had to have any major work done. I had a very frustrating experience with a dentist before and was very wary of seeing a dentist all together and how to pick the right person. Dr. Glazer walked into the store I managed and washed all my worries away. The first time I went in for an evaluation and X-rays, she had me hooked. I told her I had been in a relatively small degree of pain ever since I got a crown at my last dentist and she took the time to ask me about it, what hurt and tell me that there's no reason I should be living in pain. She checked my bite, and noticed that the crown was a little high which was the reason I was having pain and took care of it on the spot- no pain and no charge for the small adjustment. We put together a treatment plan for the coming months which included a fair share of work that needed to be done, but with that one small thing- taking the time to fix my crown- she's now earned my trust AND my business for life. She's patient, kind and takes the time to explain things. I really love Dr. Glazer. It also helps that the office accepts Care Credit and the front reception staff made it very easy for me. I told DR. jay, "someone needs to tell people about this." and he looked at me like i was the perfect disciple... I have had 10 fillings, two root canals, braces, 2 gold crowns, and 8 teeth pulled (4 of which were wisdom teeth). I've had many dentists over the years, some at UCSF clinics, some not. I used to get fillings done at the dentist office without anesthesia b/c the chick didn't know how to deliver a less painful shot. before DR. Jay i thought my most recent dentist's office was nice and comfortable---her suite now looks like a homeless person's cardboard box. DR Jay's receptionists are the friendliest people you will meet. Then the hygienist cleans your teeth likes its no-body's business.... then you get x-rays, then he checks your teeth. a small buckle cavity? no problems...just used the laser drill that takes 30 seconds to fix a cavity. the laser drill only 5 other dentist offices in the Los Angeles area offer. I wanted to cry b/c it was so fast and easy. I'll keep my long story short. Suffice it to say, I am writing this review so that people can luck out like I did by going to Dr. Grossman. I had a bit of an emergency situation and his office saw me immediately, calmed me down given the stressful extenuating circumstances, and Dr. Grossman sat with me to talk about all my options and give me some general perspective about this situation. I immediately felt well taken care of and grateful to have found these guys. I read the YELP reviews and hoped it would be as good as they said, and it was even better. This doc and his team could write a book on bedside manner given how much calmer I felt after leaving the office. My situation was a complicated one that took immediate action and several follow ups, but man, I am sure glad I called and went with them to have it taken care of. As a bonus, I had yet to find a dentist in LA I liked and trusted, so now I have these guys for all my future non-emergency needs, too. HIGHLY SUGGEST. read more

I recently moved out to LA and was in need of a new dentist. I was referred to Dr. Jay Grossman from a friend of mine. Today was my first visit and needless to say I found my dentist! :) Every single member of his team were so nice and polite. From the girls at the front desk to the dental assistants to the hygienist and of course Dr. J himself. There was such a welcoming and fun energy in the entire office. It was very refreshing. The office itself is beautiful and very clean. They use the latest technology like the laser that fixed my cavity in about 5 minutes, literally! I just went to Dr. Grossman for the first time several weeks ago to have my teeth cleaned, and too take a look at my disintegrating fillings that were beginning to cause me problems. First of all, the staff is incredible, and the hygentist was by far the most thorough and knowledgeable I've ever had work on my teeth. I made a second appointment the following week to have four fillings replaced and was absolutely dreading it. I figured it would be another two-hour ordeal with my mouth being numb for the next few hours (which I can't stand). When I got to the office for my appointment, Dr. Grossman told me that he was using a new laser that would be painless and would require no numbing. Furthermore, he said I would be out of there in a half an hour. Skeptical, I sat down and sure enough, he was done in about twenty minutes. No pain, no numbness. It was unreal. I can't recommend Dr. Grossman enough as he is the only dentist I've ever been to that makes having dental work done a tolerable and painless experience. read more
