I have been surprisingly happy with my experience at the Concord community pool. I'm new to this facility and have had several good experiences so far. The pool itself and pool deck are clean. Staff and swimmers are friendly. Changing rooms are not advanced but what I expected for city facilities. The size of the pool is quite impressive and I have had a good experience with lane sharing here too. Overall would recommend as people, prices, and facility are all great. read more

I'm very impressed with this community pool. Water seems very clean and doesn't feel like you're marinating in urine. Love the blowup mini courses! The lifeguards go through lots of practice life-saving scenarios all day long which I really appreciate so it keeps the team on their toes. Some things that they can improve are the horrible scheduling on the parks and rec website (very not mobile friendly) that is super confusing. Also, they don't update the hours of operation on Apple Maps. I wish they'd have more of a trust system with better pricing or free for people who aren't planning to swim. They could also do a lot better job at letting people know when the pool is closed for swim meets or other big events. read more

Beautiful pool and surroundings. This swim center has hosted many championships and even international swim meets.

Back to my favorite pool in the whole Bay area after almost 5 months. They are very organized and prepared for Covid-19. One user per lane, online booking which i should say not easy to reserve a spot. Pool perfectly heated for today's weather. No access to locker and shower rooms right now. The pool and the surrounding area here are pretty good - but the rest of the facilities are seriously lacking. We have the North Coast Section championship swimming meet here each year, and it's a wonderful venue to race at - but the bathrooms and lifeguards leave something to be desired. The bathrooms continually clog and overflow and are just dirty. There's a certain level of mess that comes with so many people, but this moves beyond that into just laziness and neglect by the lifeguards. If you're coming here for their open hours, it's a wonderful place to swim at! read more

Still the best pool on the planet for lap swim! After upgrades a few years ago, it is now essentially an infinity pool. On windy days, I swear you can see -- and feel -- a current on the water. If you're using a paddle board, it gives an extra bit of resistance to your workout. Pool water is usually heated to about 80 degrees, which makes winter swims (slightly) more agreeable. Awesome long and short courses. Friendly staff and clean locker rooms. We are so lucky to live near this pool. read more

I went here with my wife and our two daughters (7yrs old and 1 month old baby). We got charge $21 for entrance fee. I asked for the breakdown. He said it was $6 for adults, $5 for 6-17, and $4 for 5 and under. I guess that's for non-resident because he asked me if I live there. He also said that it didn't matter if you swim or not. When I calculated my entrance fee, I told him that it should just be just $17 for me, my wife and my 7 yrs old daughter. He told me that five and under is $4. I told him that my baby is only one month old. He just ignored my semi plea for logic. WOW! Come one... Even Disneyland doesn't charge entrance for 2yrs old and under. read more

Besides the pool being up kept and recently renovated the rest is utterly irritated. Why did you give for Millennials whistles to blow out anyone at any time for any reason. There's no rules they just whistle at whoever they feel like making it near impossible to enjoy time with the pool because all you hear these stupid whistles going off. clearly the manager is an idiot because at one point whistles going off constantly are less effective so rename this place Concord Millennial whistle pool and that would be more fitting. lastly I've never been to a pool where there's pounds and pounds and pounds of some calcium additive all over the base of the pool making it hard to walk around and also enjoy myself. Long story short, this pool charges quite a bit for Concord residents to swim here so I personally would suggest that you go somewhere else... read more

This really is a fantastic outdoor pool. It is an L-shaped pool, 50 meters each direction. One end apparently is a 25-yard pool the short way. The pool is situated in the middle of a city park with lush greenery surrounding the facility. There weren't that many people there on a Sunday morning, and I was able to get a lane to myself. The people are friendly, and the pool and facilities are very clean. They also have kickboards and pull-buoys for customers to borrow. I was expecting the pool to be a bit warmer than it was based on reviews I had read elsewhere, but it was just fine. I'm sure that it's a great facility for recreational swimming as well. The only issue that I had with the facility is that there are no lockers available for customers to lockup and store valuables (wallet, keys, etc). Be sure to bring a bag with you and keep it in sight on the pool deck. read more

When Cowell closed for plumbing/deck repairs my wife and I transferred our lap swimming to Campolindo (Moraga) High School's lap swimming program. Campolindo is three times better than Cowell, i.e. bigger with more lanes, nicely heated, and very courteous staff. We liked Cowell but Campolindo is much better. read more

Couldn't be happier! My 3 year old has taken two sets of lessons here this year, and he is getting so comfortable in the water. He had two different teachers, but each made the experience fun for little kids. He is much more confident in the water, and that makes me happy too! The pool is huge, and the area that they do lessons is very shallow. Tons of 3 year olds can walk around easily. The water is clean, as is the surrounding areas where parents wait. The bathrooms are large and have plenty of showers. (And a plus - the park next door is one of our favorites!) read more

Junior Olympics is held here annually. Great spacious park that surrounds the pool. In betweens swim events there's plenty of space to spread out and set up tents and tables for the kids to eat and rest. The kids like the pool to swim in and use the kiddie pool to warm up for each event. General area is kept clean and the bathrooms are okay, not the best and not the worst. Parking is awfully hard especially when there are multiple parties going on in the park. You aren't allowed to park in some residential areas so get there early. The community seems safe and the area is not too far from delicious eats. read more

Pros: The kids' part of the pool is shallow and then gradually becomes deeper toward the lap swimming area. It is inexpensive. Food and drinks are available for purchase. Cons: Non-caring summer camp counselors are around. Swim lesson instructors were not trained to teach children. Management promises improvement, but nothing gets done. Showers are available, but shorter children are not able to push the small buttons to start it. Children of the opposite sex are not welcome, so you can not help your children to shower. Lack of interests from the city managers to improve on this. I'm a woman. I'm happy to take daughters, if I had any, to this swimming pool just for fun. But there's no family shower room, or family shower time for me to help my boys rinse off clorin out of their hair and body. Other adult patrons complain when I take my kids into the women's bathroom. There used to be great swim instructors to teach kids, but they're gone. Only tired, uncaring, unattentive instructors were seen last year. After promises of improvement, nothing was done. I will never use their swim lessons. read more

This is a review of the swimming lessons, rather than open recreation time. Firstly, this pool is just fantastically well maintained, and the swim instructors interact beyond expectation with the kids, seeing as how they are mostly teenagers themselves. My son's instructor, maria, has helped him overcome his fear of water through patience and a great and fun attitude. He is now floating and demonstrates basic swim skills, i would have never been patient enough to achieve her results with the smile she always had. I agree with Skip R. on all counts: lap swimming IS great (IF you can get the guys off the edge of the pool who obviously don't have a life) (!), and hang out there all day chatting up the guy in the next lane, both of who are obviously working on their tans, while taking up two 50 meter lanes)! Give us a break! Swim or get out of the pool! I agree on the privacy issue in the changing room and showers. As a woman I don't like to turn around naked in the shower to find a boy almost as tall as I am staring at me! Ahem! The managers answer to all problems is "Next time this happens, come into the office and tell us"! How about the managers taking the responsibility to enforce the rules themselves by taking a walk around the pool every half hour or so! That is what we're paying them to do! read more

I brought my kids here today and will not likely be back. Since my son is an avid swimmer, we visit a lot of the community pools in the area. We thought we'd try this one today since the flotation obstacle courses seemed like something new and different. However, I was sad to see that the teenage lifeguards here are EXTREMELY heavy on the whistle and mistakenly aren't trained on a good way to redirect kids ?they just scream from across the pool). Essentially if a kid breathes wrong, a whistle is being blown and someone is getting yelled at. As I said before, we visit a lot of pools and have an appreciation for pool rules and safety. However, this was excessive. Another father sitting near us actually tried to lighten up one of the guards by jokingly saying, " you guys got rules for everything- you must be exhausted." The teenage guard quipped at him very sarcastically that "if people followed rules we wouldn't have to yell." That Family ended up leaving. I took it upon myself to ask the front desk for a comment card. However, I was told by the guy at the front that he was the manager and I could tell him what I wanted them to know. I tried to express my respect for rules and gently express concern that the delivery was in excess. Unfortunately, the apples don't fall far--he was defensive and could not hear what I was trying to share. He basically cut me off and defended the lifeguards even though he had t really even heard my concern. At any rate- if you come here, expect more whistle blowing than usual and maybe have your kids memorize all the rules posted...at the ENTRANCE to the pool (instead of where they are most needed). Better yet, skip it altogether and hit Rankin Pool in Martinez. It's cheaper, bigger and the guards don't spend their day ridiculing young swimmers. read more

I love how big both pools are, and they're always kept at the correct chlorine levels and such. I swam competitively for my high school there along with water polo. It's great for dryland stretching too, and just a good environment. Kinda scary at night(they should probably add more lights!) especially when we were in the pool and they had a power shortage, but it's also really fun to night swim. The lane lines are in pretty good condition. The showers could be improved and the bathroom could be a little more clean, but everything is perfectly bearable. It's great for huge swim meets as well. The water is a little cold, but you get used to it in a few minutes. read more

This pool rocks. The water is crystal clear and the perfect temperature. It's one of the only/few paces that has year-round 50m swimming. During the summer months they have these sweet inflatable obstacle courses you can try and have a great swim lesson program. Love the surrounding park area too. I love this pool. It's huge and the price is reasonable...all pools are kind of expensive per trip in my opinion. My husband biked here in the winter last year for rec swim and got the 10 swim pass and got a deal as a local Concord resident. Even though he hadn't used up all the swims on the pass, we were able to both use the same pass to get in during the summer. That was nice. They just got new blow up obstacle courses last summer and it is a small extra fee to use them. There is plenty of seating, including a shaded grass area. Picnic areas or mostly outside of the pool area at the park. The staff is really professional and attentive. I feel really safe with them. They do a good job of enforcing safety rules. read more

This is a fabulous pool for lap swimming. To those who complain about opposite sex kids not allowed in the locker rooms-ever heard of washing them off at home? I for one don't want to see 8 year old boys in the women's locker room. My only complaint is that the lifeguards don't enforce rules when there are problematic swimmers (refusing to share lanes, etc.). I know they're just teenagers, but they have the authority to enforce the rules, and they don't. It would be nice if they had an outdoor shower head to rinse off with your suit on, that would solve family issues and allow you to sunbathe without pool water drying on you, but other than that, it's a great pool. read more

My husband and I swim here 3 days a week. Would give it five stars but the lap swim hours have a small window for working people, especially on the weekends. If you lap swim during the summer, expect to get kicked out of long course by 12:45/12:50, not 1PM, as advertised. Most of the staff is very friendly. Water temperature is reliable as is the cleanliness of the pool. read more

It's a nice swimming pool, but I don't like to get in that water unless it's 100 degrees outside. The water is too cold. My son only can stay in that pool for 20 minutes before he's shivering uncontrollably. Then he's ready to go home. I'd rather swim somewhere else. read more
