My family has been seeing Dr. Herrera for over 12 years. His staff is very professional and friendly. Growing up, I hated going to the dentist. I had bad childhood experiences but Dr. Herrera is gentle and patient. He changed my outlook! You can tell that he loves and enjoys his work and takes pride in his office. Concord Dental Care is a small dental office on Clayton Road across the street from the old Kmart. If you blink, you might miss the driveway so slow down when you see the business park. There is plenty of parking. Initially you might get lost locating his office. Just remember they are right across from the John Muir Medical Group. With Covid-19, Concord Dental Care is taking every precaution to ensure their patients and staff are in a clean and sanitized environment. Once you arrive at the parking lot, you are asked to text or call the office to let them know you are there. They will come out and escort you in. Wearing a face covering is required. They immediately provide you with hand sanitizer and if there is a patient ahead of you, they make sure you are within a safe social distance before you are seen. Dr. Herrera's staff is very thorough. They explain everything to you that is being done before performing any tasks. If you feel any discomfort at all, they stop and start again when you are ready and feel at ease. Brittany and Susan are both wonderful hygienists. They are super gentle and friendly so if you have any nerves their calming demeanor will relax you. And if you have any billing inquiries or need to reschedule your appointment, Diana is great to answer your questions. Seriously, let me just warn anyone looking at dental reviews right now.... If you are pretty good at taking care of your teeth, have a good diet, and a new doctor tells you that you have 9! Cavities right off the bat. Just leave. And don't come back. This is exactly what happened to me the first day I had seen Dr. Herrera back in 2015. I probably saw him a total of 4 times and like clock work, every 6 months it would be another 4-5 more cavities he needed to fill. The guy filled 20+ cavities in the span of a year and half (mind you I probably had 5 total cavities in the 28 years I had been alive up to that point). It wasn't until this scammer told me out of the blue, that he now needed to do a root canal on a tooth that, not only had he previously done a filling on, but never bothered me. To top it off, he tried to do this root canal immediately after doing a filling so that he could give the impression that there was some sort of urgency. When I questioned him on it, he brought in x-rays and pointed to what he said were signs of decay. I shit you not, the guy pointed at absolutely nothing. I literally thought he was joking at first and had to do a double take. Because I was young and caught in the moment, I did not have the ability to press him further on it because why would I? I am supposed to trust medical professionals right? After this, I decided to compile all of the receipts of the visits I had with this guy because at this point I was very suspicious. I matched those receipts to my dental insurance and noticed something very peculiar. This guy had been maxing out my coverage almost to the penny, every single time I had seen him NOT INCLUDING the extra cost of a few visits. I am leaving this review because it has been about 5 years now. I have not seen a dentist since then because I lost all trust in them after my experience with Herrera. That was until today.... I finally found a dentist I could trust. And guess what? After 5 long years of not seeing a single dentist since Dr. Herrara, they tell me I have 1 small cavity... ONE! In the 2 years I was Dr. Herrera's patient, I had 20+ fillings and 1 root canal. After 5 years of not seeing a dentist, I have only 1 freaking cavity.... Look, I don't leave many scathing reviews but I believe this one is warranted because the guy is dealing with people's health and well being. Do yourself a favor and pass on this one.... read more

I completely agree with the past 3 people who have rated Dr. Herrera with low scores. My family were loyal customers for over 15+ years. I personally left this clinic long ago when Dr. Herrera completely took over, because I really felt his motivation to make the most money out of patients surpassed the "pre-Dr. Herrera" era of integrity, honesty, & doing what's best for each individual. I had kept my son at this clinic thinking my bad experiences where mine alone. However, I got fed up and frustrated about how I had to pay for 1 more cavity on top of the original amount of cavities found on a recent visit due to my son having some kind of "food or something" obstructing the extra cavity. What?! I have since moved myself, my son, and both elderly parents to Dr. Truong's Grove Family Dentistry in Clayton. My whole family is given our new dentists 5+ stars. His clinic is THAT Good! My mother, I found out later, had some bad experiences with Dr Herrera over her temporary caps falling out easily many different times. Also, she was told she needed to get an an expensive procedure done when another doctor had recommended a cheaper and more realistic fix. I have been a patient of Dr Herrera since he took over Concord Dental Care over 5 years ago. He is the most amazing Dentist EVER! He has always been gentle with me (since I freak out when I go to the dentist), he always tells me step by step what he is doing or what his plan of action is, and most of all never does work unless it's necessary. His Dental Hygienist , Brittany is just as amazing as him. She goes above and beyond when cleaning your teeth.... She is so thorough, she spends a minimum of 45 minutes to examine and clean your teeth. She even gives you tips on what to do to have better hygiene. Last but not least, his RDA Tiffanie, is the happiest , most friendly person I've seen working in a dental office. She always makes me feel comfortable from the time I walk in to the time I leave. To compliment Dr Herrera's front desk- I cannot say enough about his Secretary/administrative assistant Michelyn. She always fits me or my family in for emergencies so we are not stuck with any type of toothaches or other dental issues. She always tries to give me an appointment that fits into my schedule. It's always important to have a great person up front and Dr Herrera scored big on that too! In closing, I would recommend this office to everyone who is looking for a great dentist with an awesome staff. Unethical, dishonest, ripoff, etc. This guy is always selling. If it were up to him I'd have a crown on every tooth and implants in any open spaces in my mouth. I went in for a cleaning and his well schooled hygienist tried to convince me to do x-rays that were unnecessary for a routine cleaning, but how else will they point out your new crowns needed. She then proceeded to tell me I had periodontal disease from my last x-ray and that's why I needed them again. Periodontal disease? This was new to me, if I had that problem before why was it never brought up? These guys are all about the $$$$, and I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who has experienced this. Time for a new dentist. Steer clear of this guy, especially if you're carrying your wallet! read more

I used to hate going to the dentist as a kid... that is until I started going here! Very nice staff how care about about you as a person and not for your money, professional at what they do, and have all the latest dentistry tools and tech which makes things go by quickly. Plus everything is kept as clean as possible so there's no contamination by tools that were used on someone else. (Which are probably disposed of after it's used anyway) I would definitely recommend going here especially if you have a kid (or kids) who need a nice respectable dentist like G. I don't tend to be a review writer but I felt I needed to in this case. I have been going to Concord Dental Care before Dr Herrera took over this office. I have had thousands of dollars of work done and have never questioned their honesty. I did feel they were on the high side and this was at times difficult as we didn't have dental insurance but I felt comfortable there..Dr Herrera was always nice as was his staff and seemed knowledgable. Here is my concern...my 21 year old daughter had never had a cavity in her life. it had been about a year since she had seen Dentist and Dr Herrera found approx 6 or 7 cavities with approx cost of $1600 to fill. I couldn't believe it and knew i needed to look for someone more affordable. a friend referred a nice dentist that was at least half the cost for fillings and the check ups so because we didn't have insurance, I felt like I had to check it out.. My daughter went in, with X-rays in hand and they only agreed with 2 of the cavities...I was shocked. I felt like we were being taken advantage of and wondered what else was done that wasn't necessary. In 2011 my son had gone to Dr Herrera and he also told him that he had a number of things that needed to be done...one that may even need a root canal if he didn't get it done soon. So finally, a year and a half later, I get him into the new dentist, expecting some work to be needed and they give him a clean bill of health...NO cavities. OMG! All those years I put my trust in this office. I will say that Dr Herrera is in a very nice office with all high tech, updated equipment and our new dentist is a simple, less high tech more old school but still very professional and knowledgable. Making an appointment over the phone and in person are a breeze. As soon as I come into the office, I am always seen within 5 minutes. People usually fear going to the dentist but his hygienist, Brittany, is super gentle & thorough with cleaning and assessing my teeth. I have been going to Dr. Herrera since he took over the office 5 years ago. I have a good amount of dental work, implants, crowns and fillings. I also have cosmetic caps. Since I know I need ongoing maintence for the work that I have had long ago, it is very important to me to trust my dentist. I do trust Dr. HERRERA. Dr. Herrera is a dentist that recommends the most up to date of procedures. I can count on Dr. Herrera to be honest with me about what is required for me to maintain each precious tooth. On my last visit, Dr. Herrera was able to do a difficult root canal and saved a tooth for me that I believe most dentists would not have been able to do. It is obvious he cares for the well being of his patients because all of his efforts are directed to that goal. He is exceptionally well educated and dedicated. I had some very complicated work done here. Bone grafting crown implant etc. other dentists in the area were very crass and cold explaining the procedure. This doctor explain what was going on few options etc, and time for me to think over the procedure. All the pain and stuff aside the dental office is good. It's a small hidden location so a community doctor, nearby, and pretty friendly. We all know dentists break the budget so I won't get into that. read more

DR. HERRERA IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST AND MOST UNETHICAL "DENTIST"!!! COMPLETE RIP-OFF!!! FRAUD!!! This has been bothering me for years and I am finally getting around to writing to this. I have been seeing Dr. Mark Swimmer (and his father before that) since I was born. Best most honest dentists ever. I have NEVER in my life had a cavity! As such, when my insurance would no longer cover Dr. Swimmer I decided to try Dr. Herrera as he was close to my house and I figured I was only going for a teeth cleaning as usual. My teeth cleaning lasted only 15 minutes (it is normarlly 45 minutes at Dr. Swimmer's office) because Dr. Herrera had to get down to the business of ripping me off. Well, I was shocked when Dr. Herrera told me that I had not one, but two cavities! I was soo freaked out that I said to fix them immediately. Then he starts drilling into my teeth and he goes "where was that again?" That should have been my first clue. Then he demands immediate payment of $120 for filling my "cavities." After I left, my teeth hurt for months. I had never had tooth pain before in my life. I started thinking about it and how it was odd that the first time I go to another dentist I have two cavities all of a sudden. I called Dr. Swimmer and went to see him for my teeth pain. I brought my x-rays that Dr. Herrerra took and Dr. Swimmer confirmed what I already suspected, I NEVER HAD ANY CAVITIES! DR. HERRERA WAS JUST RIPPING ME OFF! SOO DISGUSTING!! i never went back and now it is cheaper for me to pay $80 to see Dr. Swimmer for a teeth cleaning and an honest exam than to go to an unethical hack like Herrerra. I am still considering reporting him to the Dental Board!! IF YOU VALUE YOUR TEETH AND YOUR MONEY, STAY AWAY, FAR, FAR, AWAY!!!! read more

GREAT DENTIST FOR KIDS! For reasons of convenience, I took my kids to a highly respected pediatric dental practice in a nearby town last year. When my 9 year old got fussy during a minor procedure, the dentist announced that she was going to have to use nitrous and Novocain. When she administered the Novocain she raised the syringe up where my daughter could see the needle. I was stunned at the poor bedside manner and my daughter (Yes, she can be a drama queen) was terrified. The year before, Dr. Herrera had filled a cavity in her mouth with no problems. My daughter did not need nitrous oxide gas. She did not know that she had had a shot. Dr. Herrera's technique with pain management generally and the syringe in particular, is impressive. No tears, no fussing. Her memory of the procedure revolves around the cool toy from the kids box. Dr. Herrera is also my dentist. I find him personable, highly professional, and highly competent. (I also did not feel or see the syringe during my recent root canal.) He also has an excellent dental hygienist and office staff. read more

My husband and I have been going here for years and we've always had GREAT service from the moment you walk in the door! The staff always listens, takes their time without restriction for rushing because there's another patient and Dr. Herrera consistently explains both verbally and visually so that we have a full understanding of any dental issues. Dr. Herrera has even been available during weekends and evenings for consultations. However, it's because of my recent visit with both of my young kids (5 and 3) that I had to share my WONDERFUL experience. Prior to coming, both of my kids have gone to a pediatric dentist. I thought, can't get any better than that since *everything* is focused and themed for kids. Well, it can! My son, 3 has always cried, screamed and the pediatric dentist has had to forcefully pry his mouth open for his exam. With Dr. Herrera and the hygienist (Brittany), NO such force or bride was needed! I was shocked and couldn't believe my ears that I heard NO screaming or crying either. My son willingly took Brittany's hand, sat in the chair, got an exam and cleaning and then even let me take a picture of him in the chair with a smile. He was also willing to have Dr. Herrera check out his teeth too. Something about the staff making him feel comfortable from the moment he walked in - worked. And, my daughter had a great experience with Tiffanie I will definitely forgo the pediatric dentist and *always* go to Dr. Herrera.
