I don't usually leave negative reviews about healthcare providers, but I want to share my personal experience so others know what to expect. I came here earlier this year for a routine exam, during which the office took orthodontic scans and referred me to Image Orthodontics. The quote I received from the referral was over $8,000 for what was described as a simple refinement. When I got a second opinion from another orthodontist nearby, that quote was literally half the price. That made me wonder why this office refers exclusively to such a high-priced provider. Later, when I requested the raw orthodontic scan files (STLs) so I could get additional consultations, I was told the office no longer had them due to a vendor change. I was surprised by that explanation, since I assumed dental imaging would be retained like other records. I was then told that scans aren't kept unless a patient starts orthodontic treatment. I can't speak to internal office policies, but this was different from what other providers explained to me. The office eventually sent me a processed report, but every orthodontist I contacted said it wasn't the type of file they needed. As a result, I couldn't use the scans that were taken for additional quotes. I even asked for the raw files, but was told they did not have them. This week, when I called to schedule a routine cleaning, I was unexpectedly informed that I was no longer a patient at the practice. I had not received any prior notice by letter, email, portal, or phone call, so this came as a complete surprise. When I asked why, I was told it was because I had requested my X-rays be sent to "too many offices." For context, I asked for my imaging to be sent to maybe three providers total: - two orthodontists (because this office could not offer orthodontic services to me), and - my longtime periodontist. That number didn't seem excessive to me given the circumstances. What felt most unprofessional, in my personal opinion, was the lack of any formal notice or transition plan. In my experience, healthcare providers typically notify patients in writing if they are dismissing them and provide guidance on how to continue care elsewhere. I did not receive anything like that. To summarize my experience: - The referral I was given had significantly higher pricing than other local options, - I had difficulty obtaining complete orthodontic records, - I received differing explanations about whether the files still existed, - The files I did receive weren't usable for consultations, and - I was removed as a patient without any prior notice or transition information. By the time I figured out what was happening, I honestly felt relieved to switch to a new dentist. This review reflects only my personal experience, but based on it, I would recommend exploring other dental practices if you value consistent communication, clear record-handling, and smooth continuity of care. read more

Money grabbers. Went in for a cleaning. That they called me about. Upgraded to fluoride for an extra $29. They said I needed a crown and deep cleaning then quoted me $860 for a deep cleaning. And $1095 for a crown. But I have insurance. So I told them no thanks. I would just take the regular cleaning. Realized on the way home. That they never put the fluoride on. So I double checked with my insurance and there are plenty of inconsistencies with the quotes for deep cleaning and the crown. So I called them for a refund for the fluoride and asked them about the inconsistencies and they were so offended I found them out. Got my refund for my $29 but they asked me to transfer from their office!! No problem! read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Lee for many years. He has helped me through many dental emergencies. Dr. Lee is very knowledgeable and explains everything in detail without being too confusing he is also the most gentle dentist I've ever visited. The environment is very relaxing and the staff is very chill but friendly. Making appointments is easy and they are very good at reminding you of upcoming appointments. I definitely recommend them. I have been going to this dentist for over 6 years and had no problems or complaints until now. I was not going to leave a bad review but have decided to do so because it is very upsetting and unfair the way I was treated by the receptionist today. I have been having severe pain for over a month now. I was seen August 8th and was told I needed a root canal. I scheduled the root canal appointment which was ridiculously scheduled for me until August 29th 5:00 pm again I'm experiencing really bad pain. Not to mention that I had a co-pay of almost $500 for the root canal and crown which I had no problem paying for. The 29th comes and my husband is forced to work and I don't have anyone to watch my 3 young children on a short notice. I called downtown concord dental about 12-12:30 pm left a voicemail that I need to reschedule my appointment. Never heard back. I called again on September 11th left another voicemail stating to please call me back and that I'm still having pain and need to reschedule my appointment asap, no response to that either. I called today September 12th and I spoke to whomever answers the phone I said I needed to reschedule my appointment and she offered me September 23rd? I said if anything else sooner and she says well you have been rescheduling your appointment... I told her why I canceled my appointment the only time which was once! So to my understanding she made it very clear that because I canceled one appointment she or nobody had called me back and responded to my voicemails and was pushing my appointment until the end of the month while I'm in pain!!! I have two very pricey crowns from this dentist. The first one chipped a corner almost immediately and Dr. Lee blamed it on my choosing the "cheap option" (Multiple hundreds of dollars out of pocket after insurance is cheap enough to chip from biting a piece of sea salt?! Guess I should have sprung for the $1200 option if I wanted a crown to be intact?) The second crown fell off continually - once less than a minute's drive away from the office - and needed to be re-cemented no less than four times. Fast forward, I changed dental offices and my new dentist regretfully informed me I need to re-do both crowns completely at full price (insurance doesn't cover teeth that have already been "fixed") due to large gaps between the crown and tooth. I gasped when I saw it on x-rays!! Dr. Lee also didn't bother to address a cavity in one of the teeth or even inform me it was there before he placed the crown, which has led to other issues. Things to note: - The staff seems to be very inconsistent at this office. I was there for several concurrent visits (see: crown falling off continually) and I was helped by entirely new assistants every time with the exception of one who I saw twice. When everyone is in training like this, every process is slowed down substantially by Dr. Lee needing to instruct them at every step. - And, he seemed to regularly be impatient and condescending to them, which is always off-putting. - If for some reason you still decide to go here, please check your bill and check coverage with your insurance too. I'm finding out now that my insurance was charged for an exam when I really was just returning to have a crown re-affixed and the prices I was quoted for "uncovered" services would have actually been covered almost completely. I considered opening a complaint with the office, but given the lackluster canned responses here and the fact that I'd surely never let Dr. Lee near my teeth again, I'm not sure what they could do to make this situation better. I have been here before for a few different services and repairs from those services. My last few appointments were unpleasant. I had to come in for a repair because I was experiencing pain and was upset because I thought it was taken care of and I had to come in on the day of a coworkers funeral for this unnecessary repair which should've been taken care of for whatever reason. I also had a bridge done here in 2018. I most recently switched dentists due to proximity and location and am VERY happy with the dental care I get now. They are thorough and explain what I'm seeing on X-rays. They explained I would need to go back to the dentist who did my bridge because there was a cavity developing behind it and that I order to get it taken care of, the dentist has to repair it since it is loose (thus, cavity developing as a result). I did what they recommended (cannot get a new bridge because it is within 5 years of when I had it done and would have had to pay out of pocket if I got it done elsewhere). So I went back like I was told. Dr. Aaron lee was very cold initially and I kindly said "hi, how are you" he ignored me and immediately was cold and did a physical exam of my teeth. He was short with his words and said sarcastically "looks fine to me!" with a very rude and demeaning tone. Then he said "we'll get some X-rays" so they did. The assistant was WAY MORE professional than him. Dr. Lee looked at the XRays and said "looks perfectly fine to me. But I will do the repair if you want me to." He told his assistant to show me the x-rays and I saw them and knew nothing about what I was seeing in front of me. (At this point, Dr. Lee was done with me so the assistant had to get him again so he can explain to me what I was looking at) In a demeaning tone he said "all I see here is a bridge and a smooth transition to the tooth." I replied, "if it looks fine, then I wouldn't get it repaired." He said, "Well it sounds like you aren't confident in the work I did so I will repair it!" In no way did I say anything about me not being confident about his work, I simply came back for an exam because my bridge developed a cavity and felt loose. He went on saying "it's normal to feel a gap there" very vague and I thought that bridges were supposed to be more secure. He also added, "Just one thing, DONT TRUST WHAT YOUR DENTIST IS SAYING!" I found this VERY weird and I was in the most awkward position because I was a patient and he is the professional acting very immature and defensive. I found he was trying to provoke me to start an argument and I just simply said I would call to schedule as the next appointment offered did not work for me. I do not feel comfortable letting him work on my teeth as I have had repairs from him in the past (I've never had to have so many repairs from the same dentist). The office manager also walked the hall giving me weird energy and not smiling at me or providing any customer service. I spoke to other friends who said they had multiple repairs with him as well and he doesn't explain anything to his clients and this goes to show he is a lazy Doctor who is not thorough in his work and makes a lot of mistakes that require repairs. In no way did they take responsibility for any mishaps or apologize for this unprofessional interaction. The only one who apologized was the assistant because I could tell she felt how uncomfortable the situation was. read more

I would highly suggest going elsewhere. * This is a late post from 2021 dental work. (I've recently moved, and looking at dental reviews for a new dentist reminded me I never left one here.) I had a crown done by Dr. Lee and it was a huge expensive mistake. First off, Dr. Lee can get snippy with both patients and his staff (at one point, he was berating one of the staff quite loudly, and it was awkward as it's an open-air office). Second, the woman who did the temporary crown did a horrible job as it fell off within 2 days of placement and was paper-thin, and did not even cover the top of the tooth fully. Third, in order to "properly fit" the permanent crown, Dr. Lee said he had to shave down the tooth above (crown was going onto the last bottom tooth), "like you would do to fit a door and door frame," he said. However, I later found out this was done incorrectly and ruined the tooth. Fourth, the actual crown was poorly made/cemented. The permanent crown fell off THREE times within the first two months after placement! Dr. Lee got visibly more irritated with each visit to have re-cemented. And kept saying, "You chew too hard, and that's why it's falling out." Mind you, I have another crown on the opposite side of my mouth, also the bottom back tooth, and it has never fallen out. Fifth, fast forward about 6 months, and I moved areas and switched dentist. Upon my initial exam with the new dentist, he immediately told me that I had to replace the crown from Dr. Lee as it's not placed correctly and is too big/not tooth shaped (picture just a cube sculpted crown verse actually making it tooth like), and the tooth above that was shaved down was done so too much and likely never had to be shaved down if the crown was properly fitted/shaped. Finally, after further exam with x-rays it was discovered that the crown was so poorly done that there was space left between it and the tooth, which led to bacteria in there (unwashable with a toothbrush) and I now needed a root canal. Luckily, this dentist and the root canal specialist were able to fix this, and I have had 0 issues since. Overall, this cost me close to $2200 since insurance didn't cover the initial crown by Dr. Lee and I had added uncovered expenses from the root canal (that I wouldn't have had, had the original crown been done correctly). Again, I would highly suggest you look elsewhere. read more

I have been going here for my dental needs and this place is great. Tammy at reception is very professional and she has been maximizing the most out of my benefits which saves me money. I got my wisdom teeth extracted and it was very easy work for Dr. Lee. I was very surprised because it went way smoother than the molars I had extracted 5 years ago from another dentist. Obviously, Dr lee and his crew do not know how to properly do crowns. Less than a year, I had a crown fall off and had pain in my gums, an infection. He told me it was my fault because of not flossing regularly. Told me that he now has to remove 2 of my teeth including the 1 he did the crown on and the 1 next to it. After that, I went to another dentist to get a second opinion. Found out this hack job left a broken drill bit inside of one of the crowns he did while performing a root canal. There were gaps between the crown and the gums which created more decay in the original tooth that he cemented the crown onto. Now I have to pull 2 of the 3 crowns that he did. Long story short, this guy is a wack job. He is not professional and would not recommend this dentist to anyone. Costing me a fortune to fix what he messed up. read more

The dental care at downtown Concord dental is the best I've had and I've been around 6 decades now. The way Dr. Lee practices is with a general touch. If I could give 0 stars I would. I should have known better after my first experience but stuck with them and had work done. The dentist changed my root canal to needing a extraction and a bridge when I showed up for my appointment. Than showed me the cost, a lot more. I got the bridge done and the temporary was hurting me. When I returned to get the bridge placed I told them and they said it was just pushing against my gums. The bridge was extremely sensitive to hot and cold and became painful. After having it placed 3 months I went to another dentist to see why it was so painful and hot/cold food/drinks hurt me a lot. New dentist says after a few test I need a root canal under my bridge. I than go to specialist to have that done. The specialist also said the other tooth under the bridge will most likely need a root canal. Oh and the new dentist I went to for the pain found a cavity that was missed by this dentist office that may also need a root canal but has a filling for now. This dentist did a terrible hack job to my teeth and mouth. I would never return and warn anyone to not go there. How could they miss a cavity I had full mouth rads and a cleaning done and a lot of other work!? read more

I have just gone through a terrible experience. A few months ago I had two teeth capped and wrote what a positive experience it was...I woke up Saturday morning 10/14/23 to an excruciating painful and very swollen mouth. I had had this once before and Dr. Lee did a root canal and a new cap. This was the same tooth he "had repaired". I called Downtown Concord Dentist and left a message. I then called the emergency number...I repeated this process until 9 am Monday morning. At which time I found an emergency dentist. I went right in and they took me back did X-rays and CT scan. The Dr. Told me I need emergency oral surgery. He tried to find someone to take me that morning but no one was available. The Dr. Said I need to go directly to ER. After a very painful day, I was given antibiotics and pain meds. Once I get the infection under control I will need to have the cap removed the remainder of my tooth extracted and get a false tooth. I each aged my mimd about the presedure....The support staff is amazing. UPDATE. DR. Lee you called while I was in the ER all day. Your staff called Tuesday because I missed an appointment. An idea for you Have Tammy state that "you have reached DCD emergency" I called several times and left two messages stating if this is the emergency line.... Your office called me at 10:07 am. I wish I could give negative stars after my experience here, I have no idea why they have so many high reviews. My guess is those people only had their teeth cleaned. If you don't read anything about my experience below, please look at the other negative reviews and give them more weight. For starters we can begin with something simple, such as their dishonest "convenient hours". They actually only open at 7am on Tuesday and they close at 5pm on Tuesday. I am not actually sure of their hours the rest of the week because they seem intentionally vague about this. It is fine if they aren't actually open 12 hours a day every day. A single dentist probably shouldn't work these hours. However they should be honest about what their hours actually are. Next we can move on to the behavior of Dr. Lee. He has a tendency to watch TV while he is working, which is probably what leads him to do a bad job. I wanted to snap my fingers in front of his face multiple times and tell him to pay attention (I didn't, but maybe I should have...). He also has several new people who don't know what they are doing. So he tells them to fetch something for him and then he looks exasperated when they bring him the wrong thing. I get learning on the job, but he also has to stop and give them lectures about what he is doing and why. He likes to give you lectures to and tell you about how good he is and how the hardest part of his job is shaping the tooth, which ironically he did very poor job at. Another note on the new people, someone pointed out to me that bad dentist can't keep good hygienist and have a lot of turnover. Reading the other negative comments, that is the case here and a good sign that you should run away from this place. Moving on to his work. Every tooth was sensitive after he worked on it. I get that sensitivity can be a thing after fillings, but I have ahead fillings before and nothing as bad as this. He did 4 fillings and a crown and none of them were polished so it felt like I had little pieces of sand paper in my mouth. With one of the fillings I wasn't able to floss anymore because he did a sloppy job so I wasn't able to get between the teeth because he didn't sand it properly. Some of the sensitivity and my lack of being able to chew on the left side of my mouth now is probably because the bite is off Another filling was sharp and miss shaped so it cuts into the side of my tongue. The same with the temporary crown, not polished, feels like it was put in at an angle with sharp edges and overall poorly shaped. The worst filling he did is that there must has been an air bubble in the composite, which lead to a hole in the filling. I could even see this by shining a flash light in my mouth so I am not sure how he missed it. I was alarmed by all of his work I got a second opinion. The other dentist asked me if I had let someone who was just out of dentist school work on me, and she seemed surprised someone would do such a sloppy job and didn't polish anything particularly if they had been in the field for a while. She did some simple quick filling and a lot of the sensitivity went away because the sensitivity was probably being cause by the filling composite between my teeth causing pressure. Dr. Lee also drilled on a crown he wasn't supposed to. Luckily according to the other dentist it is still sealed, but it is annoying that he made a patch in the porcelain of the other crown so you can see the underlying metal now. Dr. Lee or his right hand financial person (Tammy) offered for me to come back so they "could make it right", but honestly I think going to another dentist and having them fix his work is more worth the money then letting him anywhere near my mouth again. Dr Lee will probably respond with something like this patient is unreasonable and you can't trust her. Or maybe even try to deny I am his patient like he has done with other posters. He may also say that I should have given him a chance to fix his work. However, the definition of insanity is repeating the same action and expecting a different result. It would be insane to return to him. The only halfway decent thing they did was to refund me for the half of the crown they didn't do. Update with further evidence to run away from Dr. Lee: When the new dentist I am now seeing was re-prepping the tooth she was very shocked and confused further by the work he did because she found tooth decay under the temporary crown that he put on. If I had me crown "finished" by him I would probably be looking at a root canal in a few years ------ Second update you can tell his office manager Tammy responded on his be half. With the same "I'm sorry you weren't satisfied" that she post on all negative reviews. It doesn't matter how many years he has been doing a poor job. If it is bad it is bad. With the horrible job he did it would be crazy to ever return there. read more

After going to places like Western Dental or Smile Care I have to say that Downtown Concord Dental is a breath of fresh air! Everyone at the office was kind and friendly, listened to all my concerns and answered all my questions. I had to go in for a regular check up and cleaning, being that I haven't been to the dentist in a couple of years I was afraid that they were going to hit me with a list of things that I needed to get done right away. They explained what was going on with my teeth and jaw (TMJ pain not fun) and set me up with a mouth guard to help. Had a great experience with the staff and dentist and have been referring all my co-workers to them since I got back. Try them out, you won't be disappointed!!! read more

This office has everything you could ask for: A friendly staff. Tammy the office manager is a super sweet gal. I have dealt with some uptight, snooty staff at past dental offices, so she was a welcome relief. A great doctor! Dr. Lee went on to explain everything to me in layman's terms and was not trying to push any unecessary surgeries, procedures or devices. He also gave me some wonderful advice about the best toothbrush to use and toothpaste **Spoiler alert. Its Colgate OpticWhite Flexible hours. They are open from 7am to 7pm so I was able to pop in for a cleaning and an x-ray before work and I even picked up some Peet's which happens to be across the street. However, I had to wait 30 mins to devour my espresso following my cleaning ); so get your coffee beforehand fellow Yelp friends!! Downtown Concord Dental is the best of the best. The majority of my dental visits have taken place in San Francisco, but when I moved to Concord I decided to try somewhere close to home. The staff at Concord Dental are amazing! They don't treat you as if you're just another customer, they treat you as a friend. Their hours are very convenient and even call same day to give you a courtesy reminder, or see if you need a change of time for that current appointment. Upon arrival you don't sit impatiently in the waiting room, you are greeted and walked directly to your dental room. I've recommended a few friends to Concord Dental but the only one who was able to make a visit was my boyfriend. He has a strong fear of going to the dentist but Dr. Lee and his amazing staffed eased his fear of any dental work. I will happily remain a customer of Dr. Lee, no doubt about it. read more

This was my sons (age 11) first dentist appointment in awhile and he was pretty scared to start with. I envisioned that they would have me go back to the room with him while they did the teeth cleaning and initial inspection of his teeth and the work that needs to be done so that the dentist could clearly explain to me what needed to be done and more specifically, since I knew he had a few issues, which things should be put on top of the importance list. Instead, they called him back for the x-rays, understandable that I shouldn't be there for that, but then took him immediately back to the room where the dentist and the nurse marked down what work needed to be done and then the dentist proceeded in doing what could have been the FASTEST cleaning in the world. My son was out in about 15 minutes. The nurse came out and showed me a paper with teeth with "X's" marked on them and that those were the ones he needed work on. She said that the doctor suggested doing the composite fillings, even for the back ones (which we all know cost more and insurance usually doesn't cover unless it's for the front teeth). I explained to her that I didn't have the money for that and she said he would have to refer my son out to a different dentist to do the amalgam fillings. Seriously??? So unless I'm willing to spend an arm and a leg, he's refusing to do the work? So not to lay down a sob story, but I am a single mom who only gets $25/month (no, that's NOT a typo) in child support, I have insurance for my son but can barely afford the co-pays as it is. The coldness and lack of customer concern that the dentist and the nurse showed was appalling. For a first time customer, who is a child, the dentist should have had the parent back there to introduce himself, answer any questions I may have had and to explain to me in detail the work that needed to be done and what order it should be done in. The only reason I gave it 2 Stars instead of one is because the receptionist was AMAZING and probably one of the most kind, friendly and helpful receptionists I have ever encountered. It's really too bad that their concern for customer connection is lacking so badly. It's too bad that they are getting paid full insurance coverage for the pathetic 5 minute cleaning they provided. And it's REALLY too bad the way they handled a minor, who was already nervous and afraid, only to push him off to another dentist because they can't get the money they want ... I will not be returning and will make sure not to refer them to anyone with children. read more

I was not happy with my previous dental provider so I switched to Downtown Concord Dental since 2014. Since then I've been so satisfied with their work. The staffs are always so nice and welcoming. Everytime when they cleaned my teeth, they would let me know what they were doing at each step. And Dr. Lee always did an amazing job to keep my teeth clean. One thing unique about this office is that they know how to make you less nervous. I normally didn't feel comfortable when I heard the high pitch cleaning equipment sound during cleaning. Dr. Lee would talk with his staffs so I could listen to them and get distracted a bit. They talked about where to eat, shop, or travel so it's easy to follow. I wish they would have Fridays available. Saturday is only available for appointments but they don't do cleaning. I either had to come early (they open at 7am) or visit them when I work from home. read more

Been a patient for nearly 18 months-Dr Lee and the technicians are great however the admin staff continue to struggle with customer service. For the second straight time, instead of asking/collaborating with me to select a date and time for my next appointment, the front desk staff "dictated" to me my next appointment. When I asked them, "what if I have a conflict?", the reply was contact us in 6 months!!! This is not how to run a business...This is not how you treat customers - again!!! After speaking with the office manager the last time this happened, I was assured the problem was corrected. Unfortunately I was proven wrong. Disappointing. read more
