It was built under the auspices of the state funded Riverfront Development Corporation in the late 1990s. It is an interesting destination in a part of town that was weed filled lots and dilapidated buildings prior to the large investment of taxpayer funds. It is much better to reestablish a functional, economically viable commercial center than to leave it forgotten and abandoned. The mix of dining choices comes from all locally owned food outlets of varying ethnicity, including, Mexican, Thai, Italian, cheesesteak and Korean green grocer. New kitchens are taking the place of those that have not survived. With hours from 6 to 6, it is primarily a lunch choice, with only the Mexican place open for business when I arrived at 4 on a Friday. The rest were already locked down, or being cleaned and straighten in preparation for the next day. The building is historically attractive, a pleasant place to walk around or sit at the many tables around the retail space or the second story open balconies. I was the only customer in the house and had time to explore before and after eating my tacos carnitas. It was disappointing that they were unable to sustain their businesses the entire day, but the market has made it this far (with possible subsidies), and the city and state should assure that it can continue to attract people to this part of town.

Some stores have been around forever like the health/organic food store called Martindale's and the Famous Footwear. Parking got markedly worse when the Outback Steakhouse moved in and worse yet once they started opening for lunch. The Springfield post office is here as well. Parking is the biggest challenge here but there is plenty of variety.

They have a ton of very unique dresses and so reasonably priced. They have about 2 of every size which is nice if you can get there in time to get your size! I found a lot of the smaller sizes were gone in the dresses I was interested in. Luckily there was still one small of the dress I wanted! The lady working was very friendly and not overbearing at all. She told us the history of the store and the owners which I always love to hear. My boyfriend was with me but its always nice to have an opinion from a lady too. I tried on two dresses. The first dress I tried on was a pink and blue dress (the one I really wanted) and it was very flattering. I tried on a second cute, multiple colored dress that my boyfriend picked out and I wasn't crazy about the way it looked on me. The lady who worked there didn't try to talk me into buying it and gave my her honest opinion which I thought was great! I ended up getting the gorgeous pink and blue dress and a cute watermelon colored cover up for the beach season. I only spent $87 total for good quality clothes that I know hardly anyone else will have ;) I will most definitely be back frequently!! side note: the lady working told me the dress i bought came in yesterday and they sold 3-4 in just over 24 hours! So i will definitely keep that in mind when they have new arrivals. Go early in the season for sure!!

Surprisingly, there is a nice number of pieces in the "L" range- so if you are between a 10 and 14 it is still worth a shot. Often, boutiques like this have impossibly small clothes, and I was pleasantly surprised. The owner/operator is there and attentive to everyone who walks in without hovering or rushing you about, which I appreciated. I found this place on Yelp bc it was the only women's clothing store in walking distance of Trolley Square, and I had a clothing malfunction that required the urgent and immediate need for new bottoms. There were no reviews, so I'm leaving this one since a) I walked out with a new and cute outfit plus three incredibly low-prices layering shirts all for just $110, b) it was open on a Sunday afternoon, c) I received good customer service, and d) there were clothes in my size, and e) it is the most sophisticated shop I've seen in this part of Wilmington. I was in Delware in October on business and stopped by the Christiana Mall. I walked in because I was intrested in buying some shirts I saw online for my husband. They had them but I didn't buy them. If I would've bought them, I feel I would've caused too much of an inconvenience to the employees. So when I entered the store it was around 8pm, they close at 9pm. The Cashiers looked at me and my collegue like oh crap someone is in here. We weren't even greeted, there was 3 employees there and no one said welcome in or even hello. They just stared at us. I started browsing around and saw that they were counting the cash register money on the cashier counter. I thought that was odd since closing was at 9pm. It felt pretty obvious they were done with the day so while I did see what I wanted, I walked out and instead ordered it online.
