After running an errand downtown, I felt excited to try Condado Tacos across from Big Spring Park for the first time. I even forgave the long wait for the server to come over. It was fairly crowded and the ambiance felt positive, so I didn't mind. Unfortunately, the shrimp taco, steak taco, and Mexican street corn I ordered left me feeling blah. The street corn in particular literally left a bad taste in my mouth. The steak taco did not taste right either. The shrimp taco at least tasted normal-ish but it did not leave me wanting a repeat performance anytime soon. Don't buy into the location. I don't normally bother to review but if I can spare you my experience, take note. A Tuesday night. Two of us. A bit busy but still empty tables available. After being greeted a good 10 minutes after seated, wanted to make it easy on our server, Kat, and give our entire order so she didn't need to make continuous visits. On top of that I ordered just a single taco to build with the toppings I opted for. It was cold as if it never had been warm and missing most of the toppings. Could have used my drink by now but nope. Had to finally flag down Kat. She had not checked on us once. Did I mention we're 45 minutes in?! And no drink. But let it be known, that's not worth comping. A $10 house ranch water. (Takes two seconds to make.) Hating to be that person, I asked for a manager yet at this point all I wanted to nuke the taco to make the best of this experience. Manager could not have made it more clear he could not of cared less but wanted to give me a new taco. I clearly denied and said not necessary, just please heat up the one I had. While visiting Huntsville, we decided to give this spot a try. It was during lunch time on a Friday. The establishment was really clean and the walls were covered in painted artwork. I was impressed by the details in the artwork. They offer lunch options starting at $10.99 or you can order from the standard menu. Since we were attending a show close by, we tried this place for the first time last week. It was clean and the decor was different and unexpected. We were sitting for at least 7 or 8 minutes before anyone came to greet us at our table and take our drink order. It took a long time to get our food compared to other Mexican restaurants. Took my family here after looking for a place close to Big Spring International Park downtown. We wanted to grab a bite to eat and then explore the park. My wife, who isn't a big fan of Mexican food picked the place -- and I am so glad she did! We arrived in time or lunch and were promptly seated. There were quite a few open tables when we arrived that progressively filled up while we are - a testament to how popular the place is with patrons. The ambiance is great -- walls of windows that let in a bunch of natural light and make the place feel airy with nice views of the lake and downtown park area. The interior decor definitely caters to college age kids and older nerds - you'll find sword and board fantasy, dungeons and dragons dice and other fantasy figures adorning the walls. The music selection is electric and not too loud and overall it's a good place to hang out and drink a few beers and eat a few tacos. Service was fine, not super attentive but not bad by any means, definitely used to college kids hanging out a while and eating vs trying to flip tables at the cyclic rate. Price seems a little steep at first glance -- tacos range in price from $4.45 to $6.10 per taco with no sides, while a lot of street taco places charge $4~ per taco. But these tacos are much bigger than street tacos so they're a decent value all said. I ate 3 tacos with some chips and was extremely full afterward. Some things are expensive ($4.50 for a half bowl of Mexican Street corn, $1 for a togo sized container of sour cream etc) but overall I felt the price was fair for the quality of food received. I ordered three tacos: Purple Haze (a sweet Korean pork taco), the Heater (a steak taco with tequila lime marinade and pickled jalapeno) and Braised and Confused (a braised beef taco with jicama and pickled red onions) in order to try out multiple types of meat. Spoiler alert: they were all DELICIOUS, even the Korean taco I was iffy about. I also tried the queso and chips, Mexican Street corn and an Orange Glazed Chicken Taco (honestly the worst of the ones I tried) as well as the kids chicken quesidilla (different than the usual half hearted attempt, actually pretty decent. Without hesitation, definitely a place to try if you're in the area. I'll definitely return and hopefully pick up some cheaper beers during their happy hour specials -- great place to eat! read more

Lunchtime. Couldn't get service. Ordered flight of Margaritas. After waiting forever, informed there was not enough house tequila (cheap) to make a flight, but we could have one drink. My husband came here with coworkers. He then talked our daughter and I into trying it. It's one of our daughter's fav places to go eat. The decor is geeky RPG, but if you aren't into that stuff, don't worry. The place has always been clean when we've been there. Tables and menus never been sticky or had to brush off seats before sitting down. Tables also don't stay unbussed for long after folks leave. We've never had to wait long to be seated. That includes nights when it's been really busy. Servers have always been good. Depending on when we have gone service has been a bit slower than other times, but once your order is in your food usually comes out pretty quickly. Servers have remembered us, even after not being in for awhile. We have also had many orders "To-Go" that I have put in via the app, and my husband picks up on his way home. We do this multiple times a month, and have yet to have a messed up order. Food wise, I would give things a shot even if you think you may not like them. The mix of flavors may surprise you. It did me. My husband loves the chicken bacon ranch, and my daughter and I love the Korean BBQ. I have tried the Baja shrimp and Blue Dream as well. Both pretty good. I've been doing the BYO burrito since that hit the menu though. Also, the street corn guac and pineapple guac are really good. Only issue I would say is parking. It's more of an issue when an event is going on like the Havocs playing, etc. But just avoid those evening and you should be fine. read more

New restaurant in town! Wahoo!!! Food wise, I say it's more of a 3 star. Didn't blow me away but I've heard other people say the opposite. Rounding up to 4 because the service was some of the BEST we have experienced. All the way from the start to the very end. Every worker we encountered was extremely nice and overly helpful. You can tell they want to please their guests. We really appreciated this. The vibe reminds me of Torchy's Tacos. Very bright, open, and unique. My husband got their house marg, and I got a skinny marg. We liked his, but the soda water in mine was weird to me. Not bad but not what I'm used to. Prices were decent on these drinks and the food. We shared some of their queso, each had one taco, and got some street corn. All tasted good, but again, nothing special. Nothing I will crave. My biggest thing with tacos is that I want homemade tortillas. Otherwise, they aren't worth having IMO. They definitely use the basic tortillas here which is disappointing, but I also know this is pretty common. Not a local but Was looking forward to going here since I've been to the one in Ohio. I drove up and parked across the street once if was a Saturday and it was packed. Looks nice and the patio outside was packed too. I walk in and no one was there to greet me so I take a seat. The decor was nice and I thought it was odd how no one came to my table in about 5 Mjnutes. Noticed there was a host at the door and a sign that said wait to be seated which I didn't see earlier. Having spent decades in a region where inauthentic tacos do not survive in the competitive marketplace, I am admittedly picky when it comes to Mex cuisine. Condado is a creative scene where floor to ceileing murals and works by locals artisans are featured as part of the colorful atmosphere. I am a strong supporter of the arts, and I applaud the restaurant for its positive contribution apart from providing good food, drinks, service and fun ambiance. The service started great, with quick waters provided on a hot day, but a shift change in the labor pool left us thirsty and wondering when our food would arrive. The chips & salsa were tasty with a welcome kick of spice in the salsa which disappeared quickly and was not re-filled for quite awhile. We ordered margaritas which were reasonably priced, a bit small in volume and disappointing in flavor (watered down). The food -- a wide sampling and tacos with carne asada, carnitas, chicken and shrimp -- eventually found its way to our table. The tacos were cold and a bit soggy with sauces that I believe took more away from the taco than they added. Thankfully, the tacos were double-wrapped in tortillas, which helped the tacos from completely falling apart. The carne asada taco had the best flavor. Carnitas was dry and flat on flavor, as was the shrimp. The chicken was fairly good but had to compete with too many other mushy ingredients. My dining companion ordered a Mixed Bowl that had a lot of fillers and not much meat. Overall, this is a cool restaurant with a great vibe that needs to up its game with attentive service and food that delivers flavor at more reasonable prices. I was hoping for a good experience here because I was excited about this place -- anywhere that's open later than 10 in Huntsville is welcome since we need more spots for late night hangouts. Unfortunately, my first visit was pretty frustrating. I arrived late last Friday at around 10 PM looking to pick something up for dinner. Upon arriving, I was greeted by a fun, open-air space with wacky decor. I think the scene is supposed to be like a D&D scenario brought to life -- I spied a D20, some goblins, and a dragon painted on the walls. The nerdiness factor is well-suited for Huntsville. Overall, the space was clean, too, except for a few tables that hadn't been bussed yet. But the bartender was sweeping as I walked in, so that's good. Anyway, I will say that the ambiance is fun (if you like loud and whimsical) and the attitude/demeanor of the waitstaff was lovely. A host directed me to the bar to place my to-go order. He was very friendly and personable, as was the bartender. The bartender worked to explain the menu to me and was very accommodating to my requests. She also was very helpful to the other guests that I observed while I waited. But oh yeah...about the wait. So the restaurant wasn't quite half full, maybe 30% when I walked in and about 40% shortly after I placed my order -- a few couples filtered in after me. So bear in mind, they weren't crazy busy. I placed my order, per the ticket, at 10:20 PM. Two tacos and a side order of cheese dip. Not that complicated, right? Well, it wasn't in my hands until 11 PM on the dot. 40 minutes felt kind of insane for a pretty small order, at a relatively non-crazy time, especially when the bartender told me it'd only be about a 10 minute wait. She apologized to me for said wait multiple times and also offered to make me a drink while I waited, but I didn't want a drink ($$ and I was planning on driving home as soon as I got my food) so there was nothing to do but play on my phone for 3/4 of an hour. When I did finally get my order, the bartender said she didn't think they'd remembered my order of cheese dip and so she went back and got me a cup in like 2 minutes flat. Which I certainly appreciated her attention to detail (imagine how mad I would've been to get home without my cheese dip, lol), but if it took her such a short time to get the dip, then the 40 minute wait time was literally just for two tacos. Oof. Anyway, when I got home I found that there was actually a cheese dip in my to-go box in addition to the cheese dip the bartender got for me, so I wound up with two. I'm honestly not sure which size dip i was "supposed" to get. Judging by what I paid, the larger one that the bartender got me was the correct one (meaning the kitchen did give me some dip but it was too small), but I'm not familiar enough with the menu/ordering process to say for sure. Whatever -- I chose to interpret it as a sort of recompense for my wait. The food was sadly...meh. I got the Lucy's Fire taco and the Southwest Midwest taco. They were both chicken tacos and to my palette wound up tasting pretty similarly, which could be my bad. I liked the Lucy's Fire better -- it had more flavor, mostly due to the firecracker (dorito, more or less) shell. The southwest midwest was super bland and also the salsa for that one got particularly soggy on the ride home. These are the large tacos that have two shells (one soft, one hard) so the taco itself didn't get too crazy soggy, but there were certainly some over-wet bites. I will say the chicken inside both tacos, while low on flavor, at least had a pleasant texture and appeared to be reasonably high quality white chicken breast meat. But bland was honestly a running theme. Outside the few jalapeños and sprinkle of paprika on top, the cheese dip was bland and congealed quickly, to the point that even stirring with chips didn't help much. Blaaah. Just a frustrating experience overall. My true sentiment is more along the lines of a 2.5/5, but the wait was so egregious that I'm leaving it at a 2. I would maybe be willing to try again if a friend wanted to go for drinks or something (drink menu looked yummy), but I'd definitely want to eat in so I could get a better feel for what the food is like fresh. Hopefully, if and when that time comes around, they'll be able to support a food turnaround faster than they did on my first visit. Fingers crossed! read more

She went as far as to recommend tacos that I would like as someone who does not eat meat. And she was great, and reminding me of the Horchata, I mentioned that I would want to try before I left. She was very patient and kind and if you are going to ask for her specifically I would recommend doing so but please because of her kindness and her greatness, don't forget the tip.
