First of all, if you are in a hurry, ordering inside at Del Taco is probably not your best idea. I stood in line for over 20 minutes just to order. One register open. 1/2 person working the one register. In their defense, two sports teams came in within 10 minutes of each other and I only saw 3 people working. Another 10 minutes and we got our food. Two bean burritos, a chicken taco and two seasoned beef tacos. Way too much food for 3 people. 3 hungry people. All for $15. Del Taco isn't fine dining. It's not even exactly high quality Tex-Mex. But what Del Taco offers is an inexpensive way to feed a bunch of hungry bellies. If you go in with this is mind, you won't be disappointed. read more

I was in the area and decided to get a burrito. This is my second visit since this location opened. When I walked up to the counter, I was greeted with a smile and asked if I was ready to order. Dave and I both ordered a burrito to go. I got the grilled chicken with no rice and he got the beef and beans with no rice to go. It didn't take long for the to go burritos to be prepared. The cashier told us about the 2 burritos for $7 special. She was very nice and helpful. The grilled chicken burrito was delicious and steps above TB in my opinion. I was impressed with the taste and texture of chicken. 5/5 The beef and beans burrito was full of flavor and steps above TB for the sane burrito. Never in my life have I left a drive thru line till today. We sat and waited for over 20 min and only one car got their food in that time. We had people inside walking out. Then they came out and said they were 30 min backed up. In total 6 cars backed out of line during this event. Absolutely ridiculous. read more

The food IMO was a step above Taco Bell. The hype does not match the quality of their food. The cashier was friendly enough. We were so excited when Del Taco finally made its way to Alabama! We visited in May 2025, eager to get our hands on some tacos and fries. When we walked in, there were just a few people dining in and no line at the counter. We stood there for a full 10 minutes with absolutely no acknowledgment. I eventually asked if anyone was working the front counter and was told, "Someone will be with you in a minute." I counted 10 employees behind the counter making food, plus 3 working the drive-thru--and not one of them looked our way. Finally, someone wandered up to the counter, looked right at us, and said... nothing. Just stared. I even greeted them with a "Hi!"--still no response. At that point, we were done. We walked out and headed next door to Freddy's, where we were greeted with a smile and served right away. As a former native Californian I am very disappointed with this branch of Del Taco (store #1511). The first time we visited this store we tried to order a "secret menu" item and was rudely answered that this was not available at this store. We decided to eat inside today instead of going through the drive thru....big mistake! We placed our order at 11:57am and received our order at 12:38. Totally unacceptable for a "fast food" restaurant! My husband had to go to the front counter and complain after 30 minutes of waiting! The person at the register told him they're working on it now and then proceeded to wait another 10 minutes. I have NEVER had an experience like this at the numerous Del Taco restaurants that I have visited across the country. Do better, Huntsville!! I have posted pics of my "The Del" tacos that are $2 more than the tacos without tomatoes...ridiculous! In summary, I think the management needs to be revamped at this location. read more

Del Taco - Just Like I Remember (and Even Better With My Daughter!) I haven't had Del Taco since I moved from Vegas 18 years ago, and I'm happy to say--it's still as good as I remembered! If you've never been, think of Taco Bell... but WAY better. I was lucky enough to visit the original Del Taco in California years ago, where they make everything fresh without the standard packaged stuff. That was an incredible experience--but I digress. This Huntsville location totally holds up to the chain's quality. Even more special, this was my daughter's first time trying Del Taco. She's a huge Taco Bell fan, but after one bite, she was converted. She's already begging to go back--and we absolutely will before heading home to our Del Taco-less land. Del Taco rarely disappoints when looking for something quick. Their chili cheese fries are amazing, their tacos have just the right amount of toppings. Their employees have been top notch since they've opened. I've frequented this location 6 times since they opened and my only complaint is that the sweetened ice tea is always empty by the soda fountain. The ambiance is calm and inviting. I highly recommend their taco Tuesday special, I have been a fan of Del Taco since they started in California! read more

I have gone to this place multiple times and only once did I get a freshly cooked fish taco. All the other times the fish was dry like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for hours. It was like I was eating fish jerky. I give them 2 stars because their chili cheese fries have not disappointed yet. I love Del Taco but I feel as though they need to retrain their staff and have them heat things up when ordered or they will lose loyal customers. read more

From Cali and this was my favorite fast food! Was ecstatic when I heard they were building this one. We drive up all the way from Cullman. We were there for lunch today. It took 45 minutes to get our order. When we did get it the hard shell tacos were old and made my husband sick. He ate acouple then asked me to smell them. The shell were bad. Took them back up to the counter and Imondy help us and made him something else. She was very helpful. This was our second visit to this location. We've been to many Del taco locations in the country from Florida to the original location in Barstow, CA. We must say that the food ordered, #7 Epic Burrito and Loaded Nachos were excellent and service was outstanding! I briefly spoke to the female manager and she was full of smiles and very friendly! Ok, so here is an update... I have tried DT twice since it opened the doors. I wanted to love it, but too many issues have jumped out. Here's what I've seen: The location- no parking, traffic jams thru the drive thru. And why build half of a restaurant?!? 10 tables and DMV style individual seating, all mixed with long lines trying to order and navigate in and out. This was bad planning, or cheap shortcuts from Ownership. The fish tacos- pieces of fish too small. Even worse, the corn tortillas are being served cold. They break as soon as you try to pick up and take a bite. Either steam the tortillas, or, better yet, throw them on the flat top for a few seconds to warm them up and give them texture and to make them more pliable. The fries- these fries should and could be spectacular. They are historically highly rated among fast food fries. You either don't cook them long enough, or your fryer temps aren't set high enough. And why aren't you filling up the fry box/package when you serve them?? I have tried twice to order- one small order and one large order, two different days, and they were a little over half full, at best. I have eaten Del Taco in Colorado hundreds of times over the years. I know what to expect. So far, this new Madison spot is very much lacking. I was excited when I found out this was opening up here, per my first post. But right now, it's just not where it needs to be. Come on, Del Taco management and ownership- do better. I have waited years for Del Taco to arrive in Huntsville. They definitely did NOT disappoint!! Hit the drive through about 1040am. Had about 5 vehicles in front of us, we were done and had our food within 10 minutes! We ordered a couple combo #1's and a bean burrito. Everything was correct and the tacos and burrito stuffed! Well worth 20 bucks. I'm not much on fries but their fries are pretty decent. Del Taco has awesome fish tacos worth trying! The employees were friendly, patient and service with a smile. Finally, after hearing for years. Del Taco has finally opened in Huntsville. Being from So Cal they are on every corner. This location has only been open for a few days yet they are pumping the food out expeditiously. I would recommend drive thru as most all fast food places concentrate more time and efficiency there. Because they have just opened you have to allow time for things to settle in. The food was very close to what I'm accustomed to in California. I'm sure the subtle tweaks will happen as soon as they get their bearings. Overall a good experience. I will give it another go in a few weeks as I limit my fast food intake. Regarding the previous yelper that was complaining about the blandness of the food. This is fast food not fine dining. Almost all fast food around here relies on their sauces to achieve any flavor. It makes sense since not all people enjoy salt or garlic in their food. Del Taco has always had much better flavor than Taco Bell. Taco Bell has become a sad joke over the years. 30-40 years ago not so much. That's why they keep bringing back old menu items.
