JUST DON'T!! Promises of externship are a scam. I took the EKG Tech course at Cal State Long Beach, who uses Condensed Curriculum as the third party to teach the course. I chose the hybrid online/in-person combo because it offered hands-on EKG labs. In 5 weeks, I only got to do 2 EKGs. "Labs" were mostly lectures, and there was only 1 machine so everyone only got 2 attempts to do an EKG. The promised "externship coordinator" called me once then sent me links to ZipRecruiter ads like I'm an idiot and hand't already looked at/applied to all the ads. Total joke. It's no accident that the EKG Tech course at Long Beach State no longer offers an optional externship -- because there probably never was one! And in order to qualify for the externship they advertised, I had to: 1)get a letter from my doctor stating I'm in good health 2) have a background check 3) get a TB test and update all vaccines 4) take a BLS CPR course 5)send my resume. I did all that, and 2 months later, no externship, and now nobody at CCI is returning my emails. I live in a major city with lots of hospitals, and CCI told me they have contracts with those hospitals. I asked Cal State Long Beach if anyone taking that course had ever been placed in an externship, and they didn't answer that question. They said they'd look into it. I wish I could get my money back and go somewhere with confirmed externships. Now I'm out the money and have no job prospect. Please choose wisely, and learn from my mistake. Stick with an accredited vocational school or community college that has students you can talk to that have actually gotten an externship. CCI needs to be audited by whoever is giving them accreditation. read more

I took the CCMA online course with the optional EKG and Phlebotomy courses attached. I completed the Medical assistant portion because I was told this is all I needed to begin working. It took them 6 months to place me at a clinical externship site and kept adding more and more papers I needed to fill out over those months. I also have a friend who did this course and it took them a whole year to get her into her clinical placement. We both live in Washington and here you have to get an additional state licensure on top of your national certification to practice as a medical assistant. I completed the program In under the 780 hours and they refused to send my education and training plan to the state for me to obtain licensure because "it would become a legality issue if we were audited" said one of the associates at CCI. Now it's either be an RMA, which is a credential given to those with no education and training as opposed the CMA which is a licensure given to those who have been trained and went to school. They are not at all honest about their courses and told me it's the responsibility of the student to know the requirements set it place by the state in which they live. I checked a year ago before I started this program and was lied to about the requirements to obtain licensure as a CMA. waste of time. They just cared about the money, not giving the student the truth in order to succeed. I'm a military spouse and took this course because of the convenience, but I urge you strongly, don't waste your time here. Get all the facts from them before you sign any papers and give them your money. My situation could have been avoided but they don't care enough about the individual student to give them what they need to succeed, they just care about their pockets. read more

I took the MA class, and all my teachers were amazing, they responded in time and even went above and beyond to explain to me how certain things would work. I joined the online program before reading the reviews, after I read them I was kind of hesitant and I felt like I had wasted money and time in a program that would get me no where, but I decided to finish the course anyways. Once I did I was contacted by the clinical coordinater, and she set up a place for me to do my clinicals. I am starting my externship and could not be more excited. The coordinater even went as far as explain the process step by step to me from when she got the contract at the hospital I would be starting in to when my start date would be. I have not regretted joining this program. I am currently easing into the program by working at the clinic as a receptionist and once I start they have worked with my schedule to do clinicals in the morning and work receptionist in the afternoon. read more

I took a dental assisting course through them and was supposed to be able to participate in a clinical externship once the course was over. They said that they would find a place for us to extern at and they never did. Really disappointed that I never got to extern anywhere like they said we would be able to. This company has terrible communication with customers and I regret spending my money on the course. read more

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE! I took the online phlebotomy technician course which cost $2500. I was given 6 months to complete the course but it was laughably easy and only took me about two weeks. I never even received the book that was supposed to be included with the course. This was in November. After completing the course I was eligible for the "optional" clinical externship-AN EXTERNSHIP SHOULD NOT BE OPTIONAL, how else is one to get any experience performing procedures?!? The externship placement took TWO MONTHS and my externship coordinator, Tara DiGioia, was rude, unproductive, and unhelpful. Tara placed me at a site that did not coordinate with the availability I gave her whatsoever, and I ended up needing to be placed somewhere else. Tara tried to tell me that CCI "is only obligated to place a student at one site" EVEN THOUGH THE SCHEDULING CONFLICT WAS HER FAULT. It is now March and I feel no more qualified to to perform phlebotomy than I did back in November when I started this horrific process. I have been trying to contact someone with authority but Tara will not give me that information and I have not heard from the website's general contact information. AVOID! read more

Horrible! I was prompted to take this course through our local Workforce Development office, with an expectation that it would make me more marketable. Fact is I am NOT marketable in today's workforce for several factors beyond theirs and my control: I am "old"(54), I have several vocational certifications, but no college degree and I have over 30 yrs of work experience; thus making me "overqualified" for most entry level jobs and undereducated for others. I was so disgusted after just one week into the course, I complained to my workforce case manager. They spent over $2700 for this CMA course, with a Phlebotomy component. The instructor was awful! So unqualified to teach the course, not using all the course materials, only lecturing to the powerpoint slides that accompany the book. She was supposedly a healthcare worker(RN), but could not even pronounce words like Hippocrates! We did not have the necessary supplies to do the requisite lab classes, even down to having no soap in the classroom for hand washing! She ignored the class schedule, doubling up lessons, reading more chapters than designated and giving quizzes early. She took four days off, so we simply had no class, which is why she doubled up the class load. Others at the college said the instructors are supposed to get substitutes if they cannot teach. Suffice to say we did not have the requisite 140 hours of class time! When did the Phlebotomy portion, we had used supplies that did not function and we never were properly taught how to do draws on humans! We could not do blood pressure properly since we did not have cuffs large enough for most of the class of "big" students. We could not learn point of care testing with glucose meters cause we had no test strips. The list goes on! After the class ended, but before our NHA certification exams, the college offered students a "refresher" course and a new exam date. Several students had complained to the college about how bad the course was. A handful of us opted to take the refresher, but at least this instructor was professional, informative and utilized notes! We learned more in four weeks with her than in the entire four month class! We passed the NHA certification exams. I was assigned an externship at a local family practice; the office where my children have been patients for years. I interviewed with the coordinator in early March, the week I took my exams. She indicated that other students were using all the spaces she had and I would have to wait a few weeks to start my externship. I let her know I had full availability and could work full time. While the office is not paying for students to work there, workforce development does offer us min wage compensation. I put off looking for work, so I could remain committed to the assignment, as the person from CCI coordinating externships said that we had to agree to do it. Fortunately, I had my tax return in March to survive. Well, now it's MAY, I'm broke and STILL waiting to go there. I finally got a return phone call from the lady today and basically she is no longer willing to accept any CCI students. She said the last round of students were so inept, not even capable of basic skills like taking blood pressure properly, that it took them a lot longer to complete their hours. She said the CCI person told her last week that they had given me another placement. News to me! I have heard NOTHING from them in two weeks since I wrote her an email about the fact I was still waiting to go there. Her response was more BS about serving the students who first returned their paperwork(Never mind the fact that I was not even on her original class list and never got the email everyone else got about externships way back in November! Had I not been comparing notes with a classmate, I would not have known.) Now they are serving a new round of students and have very few slots! WTF? So, I'm shit out of luck for the hands on I expected from the course! Oh, by the way, there are very few openings for UNSKILLED, inexperienced CMAs in our area! Right now, I am working part time for Manpower in the food services department of an assisted living facility. They dismissed my application for care giver in one day, probably because the certifications I've just wasted the past several months to obtain are actually USELESS in the industry here! I don't know why I thought this class would help! Don't waste your effort, time or money on this scam!! They rip you off and KNOW they are not contributing anything to improving our workforce! Government agencies, BEWARE! Do NOT waste your resources on this! When everyone needs LICENSED, college educated practitioners like RNs or LPNs, what is the point of spending money on programs like this that waste students time and will not make them more employable? Don't waste your money after inquiring about the online CMAA program through San Francisco State College of Extended Learning I learned that nothing is accredited. I was told by one of CCI employees through an email that the course is not accredited but the school was. So I spoke with the program Director at San Francisco State College of Extended Learning to make sure they were accredited and was told that they are not but that shouldn't be a problem for taking the NHA exam and that no other students have had problems with taking the NHA exam, and to contact CCI for more questions about the NHA exam. So I called CCI again and was told "nothing is accredited and that's why its so affordable, and that it is not a requirement for the NHA exam". So I contacted NHA to see if what I was told was correct and no "the school must be accredited in order to be eligible for the NHA exam". It would be terrible to spend all that money and time and not be able to get certified. read more

I took the MA CLASS. I paid over $2k and it isn't worth it. I felt like I was in preschool all over again because all the teacher did was read the whole chapters out loud to us and did the multiple choice questions at the end. I did pass the national board and passed the class of course. The reason why it isn't worth it is because of the Condensed Curriculum Service. It makes no sense. How the hell are you going to say you offer externships when the person coordinating the EXTERNSHIP hasn't even been in contact with anyone. They have no contracts at all with any clinics/hospital. Once they find a place and they accept you but doesn't work around your schedule your fucking screwed because that's all the coordinator will do. JoBeth Robbinson is the worse EXTERNSHIP coordinator. Not only does she response slow and make up some bullshit reason why she hasn't responded but once she gets a spot for you and you tell her they can't work around your working schedule because you have bills to pay and can't work for free all the time she says that's it. Her job is done. What kind of coordinator is that. Mind you first of all I paid for the damn program and basically you should be helping ME OUT and not be a a lazy ass! Took The CCMA course at the local community college what a joke it was. one of the power point slides says this "The pulse is taken by counting the number of breaths taken in one minute" Our instructor was a school nurse moonlighting to get extra cash. Actual class time was less than 140 hours, twenty minute breaks every night before leaving thirty minutes to an hour early. Saturday's were 9:00 - 4:30 never left later than 3 and on one occasion at 2:25,he demanded cash up front for BLS & FIRST AID both of which were included in the course. still haven't received my First Aid certification. The instructor would give the answers to quiz or final questions during class to make sure the majority passed the class and was qualified to sit for the national, which conveniently enough he was the proctor for, he even taught the students how to screen shot the NHA practice test questions so they could be printed and passed around so not everyone would have to buy them. On day of the final exam he gave tests back to those who didn't answer questions to at least guess at them and if they didn't pass he would let them change answers until they had a passing grade after watching 6 people get the easy way out I turned my paper in walked out I do not want to be associated with any institution that condones those kind of actions. The instructor even went into the NHA website and registered students for the exam and it clearly states the student taking the exam must be the one to fill out the registration form. He even got the class to give him their registration info on Google classroom and the last 5 of their social security numbers as passwords. I complained to everyone and they all blew it off as common practice. The externship ladies were as rude as could be demanding their forms be completed and turned in when and how they wanted them, then they needed this or needed that. All they cared about was getting students to work for doctors for free who learned from old (inaccurate text books, so they could get paid for work someone else did. If there was a 0 rating, I would have given this company a big, fat, 0!! Do not.. for the love of God, waste your time or money on ANY program offered by this company. The address on their website is: 214 Little Falls Road, Fairfield, NJ 07004, but I'm pretty sure they also have an address in Maryland. Don't be fooled by their legitimate looking website...they depend on that to lure you in. Condensed Curriculum International (CCI) partners with hundreds of schools across the nation to offer NON-ACCREDITED medical programs like dental assistant, medical assistant, pharmacy technician and so on. They will downplay the importance of being accredited and the certification they offer at the end of a course is completely worthless! Most care clinics and hospitals don't recognize it and won't take students from their program because they are poorly trained and lack the skill set needed to be competitive. This is a fly by night organization that is solely interested in getting your cash! They "say" they offer an internship, which is "optional" by the way...huh...an optional internship? I'm pretty sure they make it optional with the hope that most students will "opt out" and they won't have to put in the extra effort of finding them a placement. Anyhow, it usually takes forever to get an internship placement and even if by some miracle of God you are able to get one, they'll only be setting you up for failure because you'll lack the skills needed to keep up with other students from more reputable programs. I was even laughed at and ridiculed by other students who couldn't believe I could possibly obtain all the skills needed in an 8-10 week program. Common...any organization that's going to offer an online Phlebotomy program with no hands on training has got to raise some red flags!...I could go on and on about the poor quality and service of this company but I don't really feel like writing a novel right now. I hope you'll do your homework, ask around about them, call the local clinics and hospitals in your area and ask what CCI students are like, ask them what they think of how well prepared their students are after taking the course, find out about the "certification" they offer and ask around if it's recognized. Please don't ignore this post, save your time, money and a world of upset and ask your local school if they are partnered with CCI. If the answer is yes...run for the hills! read more
