World class coaching! Friendly atmosphere. Very respectful staff. There is no place better than AKA specially for those that are in advanced level and would like to pursue martial arts as career.

I came down To San Jose for work for a week. I trained at AKA while I was here. AKA has awesome coaches and friendly training partners that accept you as soon as you walk in. I would train here everyday if I lived down in the area. I only did the Jui-Jitsu classes but I'm confident you can't go wrong with any of their classes. Thanks for allowing me to train with you guys for the week and see you next time I'm out of town for a week.

This training facility is awesome! My 7 year old son and I have been coming here for the past 2 years. This is not like your typical gym with just cardio equipment, weights and a step aerobics class. You come here to train and learn how to defend yourself while getting a kick a$$ work out. All of the instructors are professional fighters that have years of experience in MMA fighting/training. AKA is home to many professional MMA fighters and champions. Besides the classes this facility also offers cardio equipment, weights, an outdoor lap pool, and 2 racquetball courts. Joanne and her staff are great. They are always willing to help you anyway they can. I especially like the fact that AKA is a family oriented training facility that is geared for the entire family with unlimited classes in the fighting style that you select. Some of the classes offered are: kickboxing, boxing, mu-thai, wrestling, jiu jitsu, TRX, Jump training, and personal one on one training. I give this place 5 stars.

    It's official!

My 20-year-old daughter and I train here together, and that alone says a lot about the kind of environment this academy provides. From day one, we both felt welcomed. The atmosphere is respectful, positive, and motivating. It doesn't matter if you're a beginner or experienced--everyone is treated like part of the team. As a father, it means a lot to train in a place where I know my daughter is in a safe, supportive, and empowering environment. Head Instructor Leo is the foundation of everything great about this academy. His knowledge of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is incredibly high level, but what stands out most is how he teaches. He has the ability to break down complex techniques into simple, understandable steps, making it easier for both me and my daughter to learn and improve. He emphasizes not just technique, but discipline, respect, and real-life application. You can tell he genuinely cares about every student's growth, both on and off the mats. Coach David brings a powerful energy to every class. He's intense in the best way--pushing you to give your best while still making sure you're learning correctly. His attention to detail is incredible, and he's always there to make adjustments that take your skills to the next level. Training with him keeps you sharp, focused, and constantly improving. Coach Caden is someone who really connects with students, especially when it comes to building confidence. He's patient, approachable, and explains techniques in a way that truly clicks. My daughter, in particular, has benefited from his coaching style--he creates an environment where you feel comfortable asking questions and pushing yourself without pressure. Training here has been an amazing experience for both of us. The classes are structured, challenging, and rewarding. Whether it's Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu or kickboxing, every session builds not just physical strength, but mental toughness and confidence. What really makes this place special is the community. It's rare to find a gym where people genuinely support each other the way they do here. Everyone is respectful, helpful, and motivated to grow together. It's not just a gym--it's a team, and it feels like a second family. The facility is clean, organized, and professional. Everything runs smoothly, and you can see the pride they take in maintaining a high standard. Being able to train alongside my daughter in such a positive and high-level environment is something I truly value. Gloglo Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Kickboxing Academy has given us more than just training--it's given us a shared experience, growth, and lasting memories. I highly recommend this academy to anyone, whether you're coming in alone or with family. You won't regret it. -- Juan. D

The staff is very friendly and the instructors are top notch. I personally do mostly the boxing classes and Paris is a wonderful instructor. Once you get past the begging stages and are able to do some light sparring that is when he really shines as a coach. He is able to give genuine and very constructive feedback. Not that he doesn't put on great beginner classes or anything. I still attend those as well. Jacob is also a fantastic teacher, a lot more footwork in his classes. Combine the two and you're going to be very well rounded. (They also have several Muay Thai and BJJ classes) Overall the gym has all the staples, a few different types of heavy bags (about a dozen total), a double edge bag, and speed bag. Basic free weights and bench press. They even have the old school tire and sledgehammer. They have a ring of course for sparring as well. That coupled with some ex professional instructors and I'm not sure what else you're looking for. As for the community I've never had nor seen any negative altercations and from my experiences basically everyone is friendly and welcoming. I have no intentions of attending any other gyms and see myself here for quite sometime.

It's common for people to look around confused, unsure of how to perform the long combo shown. In maybe half the classes, though, additional instructors might occasionally come around to give tips. Compared to other gyms, the culture is notably less welcoming. I think the worst part though, is that some of the staff is oddly rude and sometimes aggressive. The only time I received a lasting injury in around 2 years of combat sports sparring was when a staff member here suddenly threw dangerous unpadded knees to my rib cage during a light spar. There are some parts of the gym that are nice. The head instructors, for example, are very kind and knowledgeable, and the place is usually pretty clean.
