I wanted to add to this review. I still stand by my 5 star rating. I typically do the full contact stand up classes on Mondays and Wednesdays. We are now also learning take down techniques in the stand up classes. We have been getting an influx of new folks and now "regulars" into the classes. Great group of guys with a team mentality. Class sizes are small, so you get plenty of individual attention. The coaches are highly knowledgeable, and each class builds on the last, so you learn practical chains and combos instead of just random techniques. Coach Jansenn has a ton of experience and a great teaching style. I've improved a lot since training here, but like anything, you get what you put in. The environment is supportive and safe. I've gone to underground MMA for about a year and a half now, so here's the rundown. Costs: First major hurdles that you can encounter when starting mma is costs, as far as here it is the best of both worlds, for both quality and cost. Compared to other gyms this place is extremely cheap and the coaching is phenomenal. All mma gyms are going to be more than your regular weight gym but believe me this place is worth it and more. Training: classes are Monday through Friday evenings with morning classes Tuesday and Saturday. Each class has a bit of instruction with time to spar or drill at the end to hone your skills. Head coach Jannsen is a master of his craft as far as coaching and is always helpful with refining your style. Coach Jon is an exceptional and experienced fighter with professional bouts to boot, he is an incredible sparring partner and always helps you to get better. Coach Lucas is a warrior amongst men and has an amazing style that inspires you to want to get better. Each of them are incredibly kind as well as skilled, and I personally cannot ask for a better set of trainers. Community: for me the atmosphere of a gym is one of the most important factors when deciding a gym. It is incredibly gratifying that shamrock (underground) mma has fostered a community of caring and passionate fighters. All of the people you meet are wonderful and kind that will provide smiles, laughs, and good sparring. Whether you are training for fun, self defense, or to try your luck on the mma road, this gym has everything you need and more. Proud to be underground mma! If you want quality technique in all things MMA, This is the place to see. I've spent some time there. They have a welcoming attitude, clean mats, ring and cage. Their knowledge is second to none. I recently started going to Underground MMA in late April. I'm very happy to have found a gym where everyone around me is straight up cool. Not only are the coaches amazing at what they do, they're all genuine and super friendly people as well. Five Stars automatically. Yes, I belong to this amazing school and group of individuals. I started my MMA stint almost 3 years ago with Under Ground-MMA, coming from a long line of sports, and some martial arts. Since joining Jannsen and the rest of my brothers and sisters. I have been more than humbled in the training and authenticity of true martial arts. We train truthfully and respectfully. Newer individuals (as myself), we always come with uncertainties of getting hurt, or "beat-up" for lack of better terms, but it it the complete opposite. Coach (Jannsen) is someone that keeps close attention to your abilities, and more important to your health and the higher ranking individuals always show respect when teaching or during drills. We definitely condition our bodies for strength and endurance. Some of are here more for the martial arts aspect, and some of are here more for the strength and conditioning aspect. Either way, you will have a good class, classes are different every-time, so if you're anything like me, and have the attention span of a gnat, and have hearing loss due to old age and being around loud sounds a good part of your life..... you'll fit right in and won't get distracted. While the location has changed a couple times, the high quality instruction remains as solid as ever. These folks have a dedicated following for a reason. You won't be disappointed with the clean facilities and pro equipment. It's also known as Underground MMA, and the UFC fight nights are played on a big screen in the studio for their members. This is hands down the best MMA gym I've been to. The classes are small so you get a lot of attention and the teachers are very experienced. One teacher is going to be a pro fighter and another teacher was a pro fighter. They keep the gym very clean so I don't have to worry about getting infections or ringworm. One of the things this gym excels at over other gyms is the ability to combine ground fighting and standing fighting together. They split it up to help newer people like me learn but, they offer a lot of mixing to prevent bad habits. Most other gyms like AKA or LA boxing have separate classes that don't seem to mix very well. This is very good for people who understand the fundimentals. I would highly suggest trying the gym if you have been thinking about trying mma at all. They've been really helpful in making me a more well rounded martial artist. read more

I love coming here and training. Jansen and Jon have helped me learn so much since they opened this location. They are extremely good at helping you learn from the bottom up and take the time to teach you if your struggling with new techniques. You get an amazing workout, awesome training and get to hang out with some of the coolest people all while learning. It doesnt matter what level of fighter you are or even if you know nothing.
