Ask the Community - Anubis Cremations

What's your biggest room and what the time frame we can be there?

We have a chapel that we use in Pasadena, by appointments only.

Hello is Ashes To Ashes open for loved ones or are you still at capacity? How would we get on a waiting list? My mother passed away on January 23, 2021 and is currently at the hospital.

Hello, Please feel free to call us 323.644.3323

Hello wondering if you are offering cremation services including pick up from morgue at hospital?

Curious if a response was provided? I was considering planning a cremation and pre-pay, but after reading this response I am worrying about being turned away at the 11th hour. Can you please provide feedback?

First, I am still living but m 78. What I want to do is create something that will be in place when I die and will happen automatically. No service. P/U at morgue and cremate. Ashes left anywhere, No Service. Cost?

We can always accommodate your request for pre arrangements Please call us and get referred to our Prearrangement specialist…

Since then I have been back to visit many times, and more of my relatives (including my grandma) were buried here. My dad passed away less than three months ago so this was the only place we really considered. After some confusion with some pre-sales people (who seem to operate independently of this office), we've been really happy with our experience with Forest Lawn, from our initial multi-hour intake meeting with Maricar. She was professional, comforting (we came in a few short days after it happened), and very clear in her communication. She showed us a lot of options for various things (urns, cards, flowers, etc.), didn't pressure us to make any decisions we weren't ready for, and made sure we had water and snacks. We ended up doing separate days for cremation and a memorial service. Throughout the time I would send her long emails with lots of questions, and she (or someone from her team) would respond to me promptly. The rest of the staff were also excellent. I received multiple updates as my dad was being transferred from the hospital to Forest Lawn. On the day of the cremation my son noticed that a basket of snacks had disappeared between when we arrived and when he left; when he asked about them they brought them back out for him (maybe grieving burns lots of calories). We had multiple rounds of back-and-forth on things like the urn inscription as well as the printout for the memorial service (including some Chinese characters). Everything was handled exceptionally well. For cremation viewing there are a couple of options - a smaller room right near the cremation furnace and a larger area; we opted for the smaller one. We had about 20 minutes with my mom, wife and kids, and a few family friends. We all said our goodbyes and placed a few things into the coffin - calligraphy from my mom and a bookmark that was a party favor for their 50th wedding anniversary, an origami fighter jet from my son, origami stegosauruses from my daughter and me (my dad got me two on his travels when I was a kid), and an origami crane from my wife. For the service were were in the Little Church of the Flowers. It seats up to 100 but feels cozier since 16 of the seats are in a small area off to the side. Two people from Forest Lawn were present throughout the service, helping with guiding people, getting a light to light up sheet music for a piano duet by my sister and brother-in-law, helping other relatives set up the parting gift/snack station (my mom insisted we couldn't send people away hungry and empty-handed). No photos of the whole church but there's a video walkthrough on the website. Random details: Memorial service slideshow can have up to 80 photos (you have to pay extra for more); later they sent printed copies of all the photos. We got the portrait ($350) and were very happy with it (it is now my dad's study). We also paid for the livestream since we were short on space and had some people who were not able to travel. It has several different camera angles and the audio quality is good, and I'm happy that we have a video. We tried to get people to not send flowers but a few did anyways and they looked nice next to the urn. Very relieved to have the service behind us. It's been a very difficult few months, but we were always in good hands at Forest Lawn. Thanks again to Maricar and the whole team here. The service truly felt like a celebration of my dad's life. Would definitely recommend highly.

For guests and immediate family members, you can pull up to the information station at the entrance and the staff there will advise you where to park or where you need to go. I want to thank Forest Lawn for their kindness and empathy as we said our final words to my grandfather before he was to be cremated. They gave us an adequate amount of time and offered condolences. The next day, for his celebration of life, we were able to host and hold a day of respect, prayers, and love thanks to this venue. The interior was beautiful and the flower package my mom and her siblings got for their dad was gorgeous to look at. Special shoutout to Diana and Sonia for their communication and information as they helped ease concerns in the whole planning process. The staff during set-up time was also very friendly and assisted in anything we needed. I want to thank Forest Lawn deeply from the bottom of my heart for my family.

A couple of weeks ago. a dear friend of mine lost her younger sister due to cancer. She was only 39 years YOUNG!! The news not only devastated her own family, but also her closest friends. It is what it is. Staff at this memorial home in Glendale were so professional, attentive, kind, caring, loving, helpful and very compassionate. The services were done with pride, excellence and dignity. They are not as commercialized as Forest Lawn and other Memorial Homes. They do all types of services from cremation, burial, scattering the ashes and more. The chapel itself was a nice, descent size and was very clean and maintained. They have an office where you can talk to someone to decide about everything in general. A place to have meetings, or simply have lunch after the services. We didn't use that room. We went to my friend's house and had lunch over at her place. The cost of their services vary depending on the package that you choose. When I go, I would like for my funeral/services to be held here. For now, I am NOT planning to go anytime soon. Life is beautiful, but only God knows our timing and when to take us to our eternal and final resting place. May all deceased people (RIP) and let the light shine on their spirits and souls to live forever and ever. Thank you all very much. They have a parking and restrooms.. Closed on the weekends!

And this time for a special screening of Wednesday, but on a Friday in May :) I've enjoyed so many great things here since my first trip back in 2010, including All About Eve, Showgirls, and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory to name a few. This cultural community hub is so many things including the resting place of many legends of the past as well as an event center. Spring, Summer and Early Fall months filled with live music, djs, performances and screenings on the large open lawn. The layout is massive and gorgeous with ponds, landscaping and huge structures including four mausoleums, large plagues, headstones and statues including those for Anton Yelchin, Nicholas Brendon, Judy Garland, Herb Jeffries, Chris Cornell, Estelle Getty, Paul Reubens, Hattie McDaniel and Jayne Mansfield to name a few. The grounds are over 60 acres, with a new Gower Mausoleum additions since 2025. Restrooms are at the front entrance on Santa Monica as well as near the parking lot, however during Cinespia and major events, portable restrooms are made available. The ones they had for a special screening of the Netflix series Wednesday were top tier! Glamped out. Night lighting is incredible here. Highly recommend seeing something here if possible or touring during regular hours. Walking tours are $35 and go up to two 1/2 hours. Really hoping to catch a film here again like Hedwig and the Angry inch or Cara Delevingne performing. Definitely keeping an eye out for anything July or August.
