worst care I've dealt with since living here staff tend to be rude with attitudes. I waited over 5hrs before walking out twice.

*** Do your research befor putting your loved one in this facility!!!!!*** My father was intubated…read morethen had a tracheotomy due respiratory failure and did over 6 weeks in 2 different ICU's (somerset then altoona). We were told by Altoona that select was our next step that they would get him off the ventilator and do PT and OT. Well there is very minimal PT or OT there. My father was unable to communicate with the staff as he couldn't speak so I advocated for him which was a challenge as the staff did not keep me up to date on the care plan. Some nurses there are wonderful (shout out to Angel, Trisha, Priscilla, Jude, Casey, and Jake) others not so much. one nurse in particular told me she did have time to update me on my dads condition when i called for a nightly update then when i told her I was upset about she continued to yell at me more! I asked her to be taken off my Dads rotation and was promised she would be but the next night there she was back on his rotation. My father was restrained and tied to the bed repeatedly and I was told it was because he was suffering from ICU delirium however when I was there he was mostly with it mentally. Then I also took notice to the amount of drugs they were giving him. He was receiving 2 different schedule C painkillers one on top of another plus anxiety medications! So yea they kept him compliant by using large amounts of sedation and then blamed his confusion on delirium instead of the excessive doses of drugs they pumped in him! So 3 weeks into my dads stay I was finally given the name of my dads case worker which I was unaware he had on up until this point! I then started working with the case manager and Shannon the director of operations to create a plan to move him to another facility. I did not speak to a doctor or physicians assistant for the first 3 weeks my dad was in select. Then finally 3 days before i left I spoke with a PA named Francine who told me due to my dads history of repeated hospitalizations his trach was never coming out. Well my dad got in this situation because he never went to the doctor let alone the hospital! Then 3 days later the trach was pulled! and I moved him to another facility. Needless to say the communication in this hospital is lacking to say the least! I recommend if your loved one is suggested by a provider to go to this hospital go anywhere else!

The doctor on duty was not very empathic to the condition of my friend. I don't recall her name but she was a tall blonde thin doctor. She was very unprofessional. The doctor came in to tell us no flu or covid which we were thankful for but did not actually tell us what was wrong. Never sent him for further testing or if necessary. Sent us home with no paperwork or explanation of his diagnosis. Only a prescription for a steroid (which is questionable by google) and ibuprofen. We were very unhappy with this experience.

After the forms, I paid what I thought was my copay, ended up being short actually. I went back and waited to see the doctor on call and then headed to the X-ray area. Returned to the room and waited again. What really would have cost me about $2.50 in OTC medicine ended up being $65 total. I knew I busted up my knee, but because of work demanding an excuse, I wasted more money than I should have. Remember that copay I mentioned earlier, well I get a bill in the mail for $5 because they didn't charge me the full amount. I then ended up getting another bill in the mail for $40. You know what I found out after all this and what will probably cause me to go elsewhere in the future? Conemaugh Memorial is now a for profit medical center. They were bought out by Duke LifePoint. So no wonder I paid more than I should have.
