Brighton Beach, this is a beach that runs along Coney Island boardwalk and beach. Coney Island and Brighton Beach both run along the Atlantic Ocean. The are iconic beaches in the southern part of the borough of Brooklyn. If you have not been there to visit then you are missing out on one of the most beautiful beaches and places in Brooklyn NY! And I am not saying this because I was born here, I may be a little biased but that's neither here nor there!. You will thank me later! Brighton Beach is a place worth the visit if you're ever in NYC and decide to take a visit to Brooklyn!. I will definitely recommend taking a trip there!.

We came there when it was about to rain so it was not sunny the entire time, it started pouring just as we were leaving.. which made for a super beautiful view of the sky, with sun rays shining through. There are TONS of bushes with different fruits there, which I did not expect.. and also a TON of glass in the sand which is horrible, so BE CAREFUL! There are also spiky plants in the sand as well that hurt if you step on them so at least wear slippers. If you come there with your bike, just know you will have to climb around to get to the beach area. Tons of people windsurfing there which was a pretty cool thing to watch, them being raised up into the air and falling into the water. The view is gorgeous there as well so I naturally had to take tons of photos. There generally ARE people there and you will see them pass by but you can find spots where you are out of view if you want to sunbathe there. Overall a nice little spot to stop by every once in a while while biking by the belt.

Whenever I go to NY and the weather is nice, my sis always takes me here. There's just so much to…read moreenjoy. The beach itself is nice, and while the water isn't clear like the Caribbean... we just have to accept that here haha. The lifeguards are attentive -- they even have a drone that I think looks out for sharks. The boardwalk has a bit to see, and there's one hub that's got a bit of everything -- pizza, hot dogs (including vegan ones), smoothies, poke bowls, alfajores, a bar... it's quite nice. There's a bunch of tables right outside and they usually have a dope DJ mix going on. It's just a shame that there's a big sign that tells people not to ride their bikes and scooters through that area, but they do anyway... shame! Parking can be hit or miss based on what time and what day you go. Sometimes we've parked right across the street from the boardwalk. Other times we've parked three blocks away. A lot of the parking is free, by the way. There is some pay-to-park, but we don't like that haha. Definitely go if you have some time!

Street parking is available but not that easy to get. I googled and read that the southern parking spots on Shore Front Pkwy are not for public use. Didn't want to take a chance so found one (north side) by Beach 95th St. Beach 95-97 area was pretty lively last Friday. Saw a schedule of events until 8/31. There was the surf music festival with live bands performing; also a stage performance of Romeo and Juliet at the Rockaway Beach ampitheater. Beach 97 has food vendors; lifeguard station. Update: Enjoying Off The Rails live performance on 8/29 right now. Restrooms were dirty and smelly though. I know that a lot of people use them but need better maintenance. Only 1 sink was left on 8/29. Showers were on the boardwalk making the area sandy and wet. The beach/sand was coarser and a lot more broken shells, some sharp, when compared to Long Beach NY which we've gone to recently. Waves were much stronger too.

Raw and elemental is what this beach is, just an expanse of sand and dunes and grass and many…read moreshorebirds. It's magical if you like to be far from the maddening crowd, and can handle being far from a working toilet too. As you head further out, the beach has, thankfully, less garbage than by Fort Tilden, though you might find, as we did, when you stroll along the shore an occasional dead blowfish, jellyfish, a horseshoe crab. The music you hear will be surf, gently rolling in or hammering at the shore and the occasional screeches of birds. A top site for birding, this beach didn't disappoint and we didn't even visit at peak migrating times. Just be careful if you walk further up along the sands and watch for signs that tell you not to disturb the nesting areas. Nature's ecosystem is more fragile than you think. The beach is a trek from Fort Tilden. You do need a permit if you have a car as the rangers here do check. If you don't have a car, be prepared to hike, and hike, and hike from Fort Tilden. It's a shorter walk if you take the trails from Fort Tilden and might seem endless if you walk along the shore. For all those of you who post on your profile that you love beach walks, well, Breezy Point will offer you the chance to prove your words!

A buddy of mine has had a house on Breezy Point for years, its been with his family for about three generations. From Grandpa, the ole salty dog, too his parents, everyone within his family and amongst his friends -- everyone seemed so happy and light of heart. Beach living can do that for a person. Changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes. We fished off the docks, we swam in tbe water at sunlight, played music, danced and sang after the clam bakes at moonlight. Cracked a brew or two in the process. The strip of stores have minimal offerings, but with all the peaceful and easy feelings to swim within on land, the necessities can wait.

Probably one of the best beaches in the city, simply because no one comes here. And the people that…read moredo are really nice and respectful. It's a serene spot, and you can find some naturalists and hipsters along the way. There are lots of rules, which can be a little annoying and they are heavily enforced, like no dogs on the beach and no alcohol. I hate that there are park rangers all over the place. There are no lifeguards on duty, so even if you're a good swimmer, don't go out too far in the water. The beach is immaculately clean with little trash, although it would be nice to see some more trash cans set up.

2023 Update- Still…read morethe cleanest and most spacious free entry beach in the NYC area! August water temperature 78°F- great for a hot summer day. Getting Here- Ferry ride from Wall St 1.5hrs or Brooklyn Army Terminal now $4, departing hourly during the week in the summer with long lines or a premium VIP reserved time ticket for $10, and can be purchased in the NYC Ferry App or at the terminal kiosks. Free shuttle bus waiting at the Ferry terminal takes you to the Camp Rockaway drop off which is under construction right now. Walk over to the Jacob Riis Pavillion for the open restrooms, services, and concessions. Subway $2.75, 1.5hrs from Manhattan is on the A train to the S and then grab a bus that heads to Jacob Riis (or just check your maps for recommendations). Drive and pay $20-$50 for parking depending on your vehicle size. Concessions and bathrooms available at the Jacob Riis Pavillion- which is a 10min walk or so from the bus and shuttle stop.

Im not sure how much it was this year. This time I took the bus right into the beach from Brooklyn. It was crowded as I forgot it was Labor Day which was cool. I was able to get a decent spot. The concessions were open and the beach was hot and the water was clean and cool. Years ago I use to come for brunch in winter which was good. I wonder if they still have it. I would be back soon. Hopefully for brunch or coffee at least since fall is upon us :-)

It's a really picturesque and peaceful spot to clear your mind and/or touch some grass. It reminded me how lucky I am to have access to places like this. I'll definitely be back soon.
