I grew up in CT and around the corner from my house was a CT Muffin. I went there almost everyday for 5 years. I am happy to report that this location's offerings are identical to the CT CT Muffins. My absolutely favorite muffin on the planet is CT Muffin's BANANA CHOCOLATE CHIP. Their muffins are incredibly moist and always live up to expectation. This was my first time really eating in the area. I pass by here all the time. I was actually on the way home and it was kinda cold and I was kinda hungry with no food in the house. I decided I better eat before I get home. There are some benches outside but they might as well move those inside because that "outside seating" weather is gone! The lady at the desk was friendly and I ended up getting Vanilla Chai with a shot of Esssspresssooo-good. It was delicious. Ya know not everyone can crank out a good Chai drink. I don't know which base they use here but it was good. Not too spicy, which I don't like. It wasn't overly sweet either. I got the "vanilla" but I really didn't discern a "vanilla" taste per se. Then why stop there? I decided to get a toasted raisin bagel with "butta". They do have a small seating area in the back and most of the seats were taken except for 2. I helped myself to one and slowly enjoyed my meal as I read my book. Other seats that were occupado had folks with laptops on it, so i assume there is free wifi. It's relatively quiet. However the seats aren't comfortable to the point where I would park myself here for hours. read more

Did I come on a bad day? Maybe. But even if I did, there is no excuse to selling their cinnamon sticks that felt like carton and tasted like one. Just not fresh and I mean seriously not fresh. Haven't been here for a long time. And came especially here to get their cappuccino and cinnamon sticks. So the sticks were not fresh, and the cappuccino was very watery. Friendly employees (I admit I'm particularly partial to the sweet and beautiful Eastern European barista who works here), and it's a great "office" for me for remote work in these Covid times. My only complaint is the bagels -- at least the whole wheat ones I prefer -- are not so great. Tastes store-bought, and don't seem to be boiled, which wouldn't qualify it as a bagel. Connecticut Muffin is my go-to coffee joint in the neighborhood. They have pastries, muffins, cake, bagels, paninis, etc. I am a big fan of their chocolate cupcake. As for coffee, I usually just get a regular coffee. It's not the best coffee but it does the job. I would recommend getting the coffee with steamed milk. It makes a difference. read more

I also picked up a cinnamon twist and lemon poppyseed muffin (I only tried the muffin and it was pretty good). There was a large selection of sweets available. I noticed that there was an iPad screen by the register promoting some rewards program (Belly, I think it was called?). I tried to sign up on the spot with my email, as it said you can redeem 50 points towards a free muffin or coffee. I never received the email confirmation and was unable to proceed with that. I've visited this restaurant many times - all CT Muffin locations are operated by individual franchise owners and this is the location nearest my home. Last week I decided to take a short walk and get some coffee to break up my day a bit, since I've been working from home for months. I've always felt safe in this restaurant during COVID, since they've seemed to be following precautions and there are multiple signs stating that masks are required. When I was waiting in line, I noticed there were two people sitting at the small counter in front of the window, which is just about 3 feet from the door and the payment area. The two people looked like they had been eating but were now just drinking iced coffees and chatting, and neither of them were wearing masks. While I was still waiting in a line of 3-4 people, one of them walked past me so closely on her way to the bathroom that I needed to step aside. She was wearing her mask around her wrist. I asked her to please put her mask on, she ignored me. She walked by me a second time to return to the front of the store; I asked her again and she ignored me. I raised my voice (not proud of it) and asked her again, and by that point tensions flared and we started yelling at one another. None of the staff said anything at all, they basically ignored the entire situation. There didn't appear to be a manager there and I completely understand why the staff would be tired of dealing with people refusing to wear masks. It should be management's job to handle situations like this. I left, very upset, and later attempted to contact the franchise owner by phone, to no avail. I also reached out via social media but never received a reply. I'm leaving this review only after having made attempts to speak with the owner directly. Here in NYC, we've lost many precious loved ones, colleagues, and neighbors to COVID-19, and we're beginning to see increased transmission rates in and around the specific area this franchise is located. Our restaurant reopening regulations have been limited to outdoor eating, delivery, and pick-ups only until at least Sept 30th 2020. Not only were these people eating indoors, they were seated in a place that made social distancing impossible because they were arms length from the front entrance/exit and the payment area. It was frustrating as a customer and also incredibly sad and frightening to see other people unwilling to do such a simple thing to protect others, even when the mask is readily accessible and they're not eating or doing anything that might prevent them from doing so. It's disgraceful that Connecticut Muffin would allow this to happen when they specifically post signs requiring the wearing of masks and they are breaking the law by allowing incidents like this to occur. I'll never return to this restaurant; plenty of other places in the neighborhood actually respect their customers and do their best to protect the safety of their customers and staff. read more

So I may have found a new coffee shop, as I'm always on Cortelyou. Connecticut Muffin is the perfect venue in the bustle of all the new Cortelyou additions. Even though they are a chain store I still feel like they are better quality than Dunkin or Starbucks. I order an iced/hot coffee daily. The coffee is perfectly bold, strong and rather tasty. It is also priced very reasonable. I've ordered sandwiches a couple of times and I feel like their rolls/spreads/veggies are definitely better quality. The tuna sandwich is great and so is the egg sandwich. I haven't tasted their muffins so I can not write about those, but they look fresh. I also like that this location has space and tables so if you want to grab a coffee and work on your laptop or read a book you can do it in peace over here. I will say that although customer service is usually great, with employees being friendly and fast there is one that I try to avoid. I feel like a shot of espresso prior to their shift may change the attitude. Overall, if you want high quality coffee for a good price in this neighborhood, this is the place to go. read more

We have been to this Connecticut Muffin several times over the years (usually in the winter) and know that we can always be assured of coffee that is not bitter and baked goods that are fresh and tasty. The inside of the restaurant is quite comfortable with great wooden tables and nice decorations. I don't know if this happens regularly, but last Sunday it was very warm inside the restautant (perhaps the air conditioning was broken?). Luckily we found a place on one of the benches in front of the store where we enjoyed our bagels and coffee (though if management reads this, one of the benches was more like a seesaw as it was placed on an uneven bulkhead door and no blocks were put under the bench to compensate). Service is quite friendly but a bit slow. But otherwise it is a great place to chill on a Sunday morning...or any other morning you have time to visit! read more

Friendly customer service. I really like that the barista remembers my order. They occasionally take their time with your order BUT I've never had a mistake with my order so I don't mind trading a few moments for accuracy. I really like blueberry bagels and either they rarely order them or they sell out quickly because rarely ever have any. I can only speak for this location. The coffee is horrible and overpriced. I just got an iced coffee this morning; thinking it would be nice and fresh. It was definitely there from last night. It had coffee grains on the bottom and just made me sick to my stomach. A small cup of gross coffee is 3 bucks. I would stay away from their coffee. I like the decor and the vibe. The staff was very nice. I had an iced cappuccino with a quad shot. It was pretty good. Good presentation and the taste was decent. It was a little bitter but still refreshing. While a quad shot could tend to pull it to the more bitter side a great iced Capp would still have the balance. Once I added sweetener it was perfect. Stumbled upon this place after brunch. Nice large spot for your coffee and muffins. The coffee is standard but the standout are the muffins. Delicious and filling. Love the morning glory muffin that is filled with wonderful ingredients. Carrots, coconut, and nuts. Also the cranberry yogurt muffins were good as well. Soft and moist inside with a nice crunchy muffin top. Nice service and a refreshing coffee.
