Connecticut Propane mistakenly filled my owned tank without my knowledge, permission or contract/paperwork of any kind. To make matters worse, they sent a "messenger" with NO identification to my door who demanded my phone number. Matter was turned into CT Consumer Protection Agency. read more

After reading the reviews, it's all making sense. Horrible customer service and make sure you read the contract. If you don't order a minimum of 400 gallons a year they double your propane tank rental. For those of us that only heat a pool in connecticut, it would be hard to hit that minimum. Also, they do not reimburse for leftover gas in tank when canceling service. I've spoken to 4 new suppliers and all of them never heard of that. If i paid for the gas, how can they just take the tank without paying me for it. It is outrageous. read more

My old water heater tank started leaking too fast to heat water for even a quick shower. There was no prior warning and I had to scramble for bids for an on demand, tankless system to replace it. CPP's bid was best and they quickly got me on the schedule. Installation went smoothly and I now have a more energy efficient system that can produce unlimited hot water using propane. CPP also plumbed the house for propane and is my supplier. They have my trust. read more

Crooked, conniving and unlawful. How they still have a license is a mystery. CPP bought out my propane dealer. I chose not to move forward with signing a contract with CPP as the contract was a joke and in no way protected the consumer. I chose to run down the fuel in the tank before they picked it up as they were not going to reimburse me for the remaining fuel. They went ahead and topped off the tank anyway without my knowledge. They also proposed to sell me the tank for $300, so I did a little research on 100lb tanks which is what I had here. I found out that these 100lb tanks have certification expiration dates assigned to them and the tank I had expired last year. There are safety reasons why these tank's certifications expire. So they unlawfully filled the tank and then tried unlawfully to sell me this now expired and potentially dangerous tank. After complaining about these matters to CPP, they said they would pick up the tank, weigh it and reimburse for the remaining fuel. CPP subsequently picked up the tank. I estimate there was about 15 gallons of propane in the tank based on years of data I kept of past usage and I cooked a meal using this tank the morning it was disconnected so there was definitely fuel remaining. I received a call two days after CPP picked up the tank telling me that the tank was empty when they picked it up and that they could tell because it "felt" empty. CPP never weighed the tank like they stated they were going to. So folks, just a heads up. It seems CPP pulled a fast one on me on several accounts. I've reached out to the BBB, Dept. of Consumer Prot. (DCP) and CT State Fire Marshall concerning the legal issues in order to protect other consumers. Interestingly, I see CPP has responded to some social media complaints that they are a "reputable" company. Based on my personal experience and the many complaints on social media and DCP has received they may wish to reassess. Update: CPP "due to the circumstances" has offered to send me $50 for the remaining fuel. read more

Never had a contract with this company. They took over for my prior provider and are now trying to assess me a $150 pickup fee to come get their tanks--prior contract had no such provision. Additionally, refusing to give credit for pre-paid propane still in the tanks Outrageous. After contacting several propane service companies in the area, I felt CPP had fair prices and they seemed up-front about the process. Well, once they had a deposit, communications came to a standstill. I specifically requested to know what the process and fees would entail because I did not want any surprises at the installation. The tech, Edgar, who installed the tank and piping did a great job - efficient, neat, polite, Covid appropriate, patiently explaining what he was doing. But extremely poor communications with the office led to a four-day delay between beginning the installation and being able to use my new cooktop. I require better communication than this and will certainly switch to a different company when my two-year agreement has ended. read more

I called for service bc my tank was empty. 3 days after my confirmed service day, my propane fueled fireplace wasn't working. I called customer service and they said I needed to pay $150 to come out. After explaining $150 was a steep price as my fire place was working properly prior to me running out of fuel, the customer service agent became defensive, asked if I was "blaming CPP" and told me "there are many other propane companies out there if you'd like to call them, be my guest". I took her advice and called another company. They came out to inspect the system and concluded the tank was empty. After all that, CPP never even showed up for my scheduled service day. Instead of the customer service agent insulting me, she could have checked the records and seen their service person was a "no show" (I'll take some blame for not properly inspecting the meter). She's right, there are many other propane companies out there. You should all take her advice. read more

CPP installed an underground propane tank for me during the summer, and while the communication and coordination with them was difficult, they did properly complete the job. My issue with CPP is the incompetence of their propane truck drivers, and CPP's failure to make amends to their customers. Specifically, during the very first propane delivery, the driver drove onto our lawn, and 6 ft into a perennial bed. I have pics of the damage, and of the tire treads causing the damage. CPP's Danielle reported that the driver claimed that most of the damage was caused by someone else. Well, the photos taken show the tire treads are exactly the same on both the lawn and the perennial bed! Finally CPP offered a $50 credit for their error, but failed to issue it after three months. Now they say that they'll only pay for damages as a credit, only if I place a tank refill order. Only a fool would continue a relationship with this company! Perhaps I'm lucky to have only lost $50. read more

If I could give a negative number of stars I would! Ruuuunnnn on swift legs to any other provider! I have been on "a contract" with CPP for over a year. No issues. Then this week I received an automatic delivery at $3.94 a gallon! Other providers are in the range of $2.67 a gallon! When I called to switch companies and get CPP's tanks removed I was told that it would cost me "exorbitant fees" to leave them. They keep prorating my price. One agent said that she had "no idea" why I was charged so much. She said she could bring the price down to $2.74 a gallon. So, what's the price? Three phone calls and as many days later---I still do not have a set fee to get out of the contract, but it will be upwards of --- wait for it---$3,000--- and I would not be reimbursed for the propane in the tanks. Needless to say, I'm fighting this. Please, learn from me. I was new to using propane and "the system." Don't be a me! read more

I emailed 3 times and left 2 messages to which none were returned. I finally called today and spoke to Gabby who was very professional she then sent me to Theresa whom I spoke with and got nowhere. I explained that I was concerned that my email and messages were not returned and she was ok with that. I then asked when I would get my propane delivery and she said Gabby would call back and I never heard and my credit card was charged. Horrible service in Sherman, CT. They are nice people, but service is very slow. It took months until they were "in the area" to work. They keep saying we are a long drive for their service people, so I ask why they take accounts from the area. They also "serviced" my HVAC and two days later the system failed. They offered to fix the a/c for $4500, more than the cost for replacing the entire HVAC system. They tried to take advantage which is not appreciated. Once we agreement is up (and thankfully it is only an 18 month agreement), I will go back to Mitchell. read more

I was a customer of Phoenix Propane out of Oxford for 7 years. I guess CPP took them over. I was on a will-call plan with Phoenix meaning I would call when I needed propane for my pool tanks. Last Friday I received an unannounced delivery from CPP with a bill for $230. I called the CPP office today in an attempt to straighten this out, informing them I was a will-call customer of Phoenix and did not want a delivery. The only resolution from CPP was to come and take my two tanks which are now full with my previously bought propane and their newly delivered propane. No effort to offer me some sort of pro-rated discount on tank rental or anything. So now I am out my previously bought propane. I guess they are not interested in keeping old customers. Good riddance and I look forward to finding a local dealer with which to begin a new relationship. read more

After calling a few different propane companies, we decided to go with CPP. Their rates were upfront and costs reasonable, especially compared to some of their competition. Bill completed the final hookup of our grill and stove today and did a great job despite the weather. We will definitely be recommending CPP to our friends. read more

I just want to say Connecticut propane is the WORST company ever! I've been making payments on my balance consistently and they put a hold on my propane without my knowledge causing my tanks to go empty, no heat no hot water and blew out my furnace! On top of that they are trying to charge me a $360 emergency fee and told me I have to pay my balance up front! They NEVER in all the phone calls they made offered me a budget plan option. If you have them I suggest switching now! They could care less about the quarantine. I had to get a tech to look at my brand new furnace and the lady from CPP had the nerve to say "oh you can pay a tech but you can't pay your bill!" Even though I've been paying it! read more

There are a lot of propane suppliers saying they provide the best service at competitive prices but CP&P is the real deal. They don't give you the run around when asking for current pricing and they are quick to deliver. If you've dealt with propane suppliers very long, CP&P is a welcome change. The family owned persona definitely comes through when you're dealing with them on the phone. You're not just an account number. Here's hoping they remain family owned for many years to come.
