I have been looking for both a split mini duct system company as well as an HVAC company to upgrade my Central Air. I first ame across R & W during one of the Home Shows I attended. I picked up a pamphlet on the mini ducts. As time went by, I knew I would also need to update my HVAC, so whenever I got the urge to look for who people used I would surf all the social media sites and noticed most had people recommending R & W Heating. After a few years I finally decided I needed to upgrade. Made initial contact and was happy at how fast and responsive they were. Our estimate appointment went well and the overall quoted estimate was reasonable. Technicians were very knowledgeable about the HVAC systems and gave solutions for our upgrade, as well as a c recommendation for a mini split system in one of our rooms. Installation went smooth, they were on time, neat, approachable for questions about what was going on. And they ensured our system worked for not only the AC as it was the summerr, but checked to ensure the heating portion worked as well. Overall very satisfied with the experience and would use them again. Highly recommended. read more

We have been customers of R & W Heating for over 15 years! R&W has never let us down, they fix the problem is, and arrive on time!

Called because I wasn't getting heat in one zone. Guy came out, diagnosed it in about 2 minutes. Couple days later, same problem. Second guy came out, he wasn't sure, said it might be the circulator. Told me that the first guy's training, "was 90% air conditioning." Stopped payment on the check and called first thing on Monday morning. No response. I called back a week later, then got a call back. Owner said he called the next day but my voicemailbox was full (it wasn't). Once I spoke with the owner, I claimed the problem was misdiagnosed, he said it wasn't and that the technician followed the proper protocol for what was wrong, yet I still had the same zone with no heat. My issue was that the technician was so sure about the problem, nothing like, "we can try and do this," or, "this may be the problem." They wound up replacing the expansion tank. The 2nd technician said that line didn't even go into the expansion tank. After what was basically a shouting match, he threatened to take me to small claims court. Careful with these guys if you use them, I wouldn't. read more

STAY AWAY! I have never written a bad review, however this is an exception. R & W scheduled two appointments to come to my house with a three hour window. I took time off of work and they cancelled on me TWICE! The second time they offered to come after hours and charge me at a higher rate of $285.00 an hour. I just lost two half days of pay because of their incompetence and then they want to charge me more for coming. Very poor business practice. They kept saying they are short staffed. We all are short staffed. A good business would schedule less appointments, however that would mean money out of there pockets. Instead lets take advantage of the customer. STAY AWAY! It gets better! After promising me to a third time to come service my unit, they don't show up. The receptionist explains its because the owner didn't like my review on yelp. Thankfully I have found another company that is more professional and actually know how to run a business. It was a different experience from the first phone conversation. They were polite and respectful and were understanding of my time. I shared my experience and they said they were not surprised. I would strongly suggest that customers call other companies for service. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and will be placing an add in the paper explaining my experience. I didn't mention this but I was a repeat customer. Last summer they replaced one of my wall units. I spent over $2,000.00 so much for customer loyalty. read more

Today I had a very frustrating day with R&W. As background, 4 years ago when I bought my home I contacted R&W to replace my 2 central air AC condensers and to install 2 mini split units. I have used them every year since the install to maintain the central air, the splits, and the boiler. Today they arrived and told me that the splits were not cooling and there must be a leak. I said that since these are ductless systems you should be able to find the leak and repair it. I was told that all they would do today is to add freon, but not diagnose the leak. They stated that the cost would be over $1700 for the splits. In essence, I would be paying $1700 without the problem resolved. I told them to just do the maintenance on the central air and the boiler which btw was about $1000. I called the office and told them what transpired on the equipment they had acquired and installed. Information was noted by them and I was told that Samantha would call me. She never called and the message I received from the technician is that he was advised to give me a discount off their labor charge of $185/hr for adding the Freon which was a paltry $18.50 on a gross bill of over $2700. I said no thank you but do the maintenance on the central air units and the boiler. Next thing I heard from the technician is that he was instructed to walk away from the job without performing the annual maintenance which I had authorized for the boiler and the central air units. Reading previous reviews for this company and I see that I am not the only person who has felt the wrath of Rick the owner who refuses to take any responsibility for his subpar work. He is rude and condescending if you question anything about his business. When they installed my mini-split they failed to properly insulate and condensation was leaking into my ceiling leaving damage. When I asked them to come fix the issue in July, they told me to turn off the unit until they were able to come back in about 4-6 weeks. I told them I had no intension of turning off my A/C all summer due to their poor workmanship. Rick was rude and abusive when we told them we were going to continue to run the units and go after them for any damage if chose not to fix the issue. They reluctantly came out and took care of this. There were a few other issues and each time they and their staff were rude and dismissive of our concerns. Fast forward a year and 2 months since the units were finally installed. I woke up on New Years Day to no heat. The breaker was tripped. I reset the breaker and still no heat. I called a different contractor to come out and look since I did not want to deal with this company again. The new company opened the cover and found that the wires were incorrectly installed and were up against the hot pipes with the refrigerant in it for heating. The heat from the pipe melted the wire causing it to arc and blast a hole in the pipe with all the refrigerant in it. I called R&W and explained the situation hoping they would at least come out and investigate. They told me that since it was more than a year since they installed it they would charge me a service charge to come out. I explained that they wouldn't need to come out if they had properly installed it to begin with, but that didn't matter to Rick. He would not take responsibility. I had some choice words for him as he did for me. I HIGHLY suggest avoiding this company unless you enjoy being treated horribly. read more

I called for a tech to come service the furnace they installed in 2018 as well as to see whether it was leaking. They gave me an appointment for 9/3 between 12-3pm. The tech showed up at 12 and when I showed him what had happened he asked which I wanted done service or maintenance. I said both, he had to call to see if he could do both, as he was sent to do maintenance other wise I would have to reschedule one of them. The office gave him permission to do both. I was kind of taken aback when the bill came to $622.15 ($225 for parts and $360 for labor). Full service charge for each service and maintenance visits,which equates to $240 an hour. The technician was polite. repaired, and cleaned up after himself. Chose them because they are local and I wish to support the community, however I feel they are over priced. I needed emergency service on my furnace and they sent someone the same day. They explained everything they did. When the furnace didn't run a few days later, they came back the same day I called and adjusted it at no cost. Excellent service. read more

Fabulous company! In this day and age where companies rarely call back, much less show up, R&W sits head and shoulders above the rest. Ray, the technician, is personable, knowledgeable, and professional. And he shows up when scheduled. Both he and Kyle knew what they were doing to install a sensor to my heating unit and were able to complete the job in about an hour. They also conducted the annual maintenance and left my basement area spotless. In short, these guys and the company are great! read more

A few weeks ago I noticed that Condensate Water was leaking onto the basement floor from my Air Handler. I investigated and determined that the vertical drain pan had corroded and was leaking. Called R&W to get a quote and gave them all the info, Model Numbers/Part Numbers etc. They said they would have to schedule an inspection for $228. We scheduled the appointment for fist available time (2 weeks), they arrived on time, spent 10 minutes to tell me what I already knew. They took down the model number(which I already gave them) and charged me $228. One week later I received the quote. $700 for a new drain pan and $250 per hour with an estimated 3 hour to install. I told them $700 was excessive as I could buy OEM for $262 with tax and shipping. They said $700 was their price. I told them I bought the $262 drain pan and if they would quote installing it. They declined. They are overpriced, and appears to make excessive markup on their material. read more

Don' t expect ANY service from this company. We had our whole heating done 2 years ago and had two gas boilers with on demand heating installed. Total costs over 21,000 USD. Then a year after installation they call to check system after 1 year. They had not been back since installation and I thought it was good service UNTIL they wanted around 400$ for cleaning.They threatened I would be out of warranty if I didn't pay. The owner is very rude and says they are not in business of doing things for free. And then when they checked boiler and there was a part leaking for a while and need replacement. As it was out of warrenty (13 months instead of 12 months) I had to pay for all labour at 145$ an our plus tax. The owner didn't care that it was leaking for long time already. Last month there was no heat and hot water. Because they installed the system I ave them another chance (blame on me!!) They came and Reset some settings on boiler for 245$ which I paid. Only after the guy left that day hot water was still not working while heating is on. So system was never really repaired. After not showing up while I waited 11am-2pm for them and receiving a call at 2.15pm that the tech was not going to make it that day , they came yesterday to fix hot water. For diagnoses they are charging me 300$ and nothing is fixed and they need to order a part and come back. Owner calls me this morning and is very rude again telling me I need to pay now otherwise they will not come to fix part (what ever it is. This is what you get If you spend over 20,000 USD on heating. THEY DONT CARE, NO SERVICE AND A SHITTY JOB. Remember everything was new installed 2 years ago. read more
