Extremely Disappointing Experience -- Proceed with Caution! I had a very bad experience with this company. What started as a small project back in October 2024 is still unresolved as of now. The entire process has been unprofessional, with a severe lack of customer service and accountability. They require full payment upfront, leaving customers with no recourse if the project isn't done properly -- which is exactly what happened in my case. The work led to expensive personal damages, and although they acknowledged responsibility, no meaningful resolution has been offered. They even fired an employee at the beginning of my project for unprofessional conduct, yet the issues persisted throughout. I am still dealing with the fallout and will continue to update this review as the situation unfolds. I'm sharing my story so that others can be warned and hopefully avoid a similar experience. read more

Beautiful finished job on kitchen granite. They searched for the specific granite I wanted and finally found it in Virginia! Huge caveat: you will sign a contract stating up to a 5 week wait for fabrication and install after someone templates. You must have LOTS of patience as they are NOT kidding about lead time. If you need/want your project finished quickly, go elsewhere! Had I been interested in a different granite I would not have used them and could have had the job done for less. read more

I don't do a lot of review-writing, but there are times when you just have to "step up and say so," and today is one of those days: My landscaping/masonry skills are limited to lawn-mowing and... moving/piling rocks, and I live in a modest 1933 home set upon a sloped parcel with some pretty serious water management challenges. Over the last several years I've connected with several landscapers who (a) are more "mower-of-lawns" folks [see above], and/or (b) aren't necessarily interested in establishing over a few visits a water-managing, eclectic-landscape (i.e. 3 or 4 small projects put in place over, say, a season or 2). ANYWAY.... Craig at Connecticut Stone was quite generous and patient with me as a "lady-customer with a limited budget and neither knowledge nor skills.... who hopes to just go ahead and start these projects herself." Craig and the staff treated me just as kindly as if I had arrived at the desk with a well-established contractor by my side and a fat checkbook in hand. (Rather I arrived solo, in my 50s having had three surgeries ON my hands.) Craig then helped me select from their closeout area a beautiful and large-enough mix of gorgeous, natural stone that was to be both manageable enough for my budget, and manageable via pieces "not-tooo-too-heavy" so I can attempt to work with them on my own. Thus my having visited CT Stone allows me to now at least attempt/begin to set in place some water-managing, eclectic little "vignettes" in my yard that can be simple and natural... and beautiful... AND sustainable for the long term. Craig's work with me over a few days (in-person, via email and by phone) from options to selections, to quote to payment for my low 4-figure order was as efficient and attentive as if it had been in the high FIVE figures. (That'll come next time:):):) So THEN came the delivery: Delivery day arrived and so did thee most massive supply of anything I've ever received to my little home. Chip was the guy in charge of offloading these pallets (...and pallets) of materials to my yard and, like Craig, he could not have been more skilled, efficient and generous with his kindness. Chip maneuvered several pallets of the hhheaviest of materials in such a way that they can be most easily accessed and dealt-with by.... me: "some 'lady-customer' walk-in with a limited-budget and hopeful-vision," and of whom Connecticut Stone took EXCELLENT care. Nice products but poor customer service. We ordered a few thousand dollars worth of stone and granite to remodel our fireplaces. We had to provide exact measurements to ensure the correct amount of stone was ordered. The store insisted that they would calculate everything so we do not have too much excess product. Long story short, they messed up and ordered too many panels and not enough corners. When we contacted CT Stone about the mixup, they were not apologetic or concerned about the error. They said we can place another order to get the corners but they would not let us return the excess panels and we had to pay full freight/shipping fees again. Although they initially required us to send the measurements so they can calculate what is needed, we were more recently told we signed off on the paperwork and could have caught their error. Not an ideal situation and made us feel manipulated in the long run. read more

They installed our marble counter several years ago but ruined what would otherwise have been a good experience. We told them to cut the stove opening to accommodate a future 30" replacement. When the new GE stove arrived a few months later, it wouldn't fit because the opening was 30" in the back but 29.5" in the front, the width of our old stove. When we asked them to fix the problem, they demanded $300, insisting that they made the opening for the old stove. What, a trapezoidilly shaped stove? We told a lady "manager" we would have it done by a real professional instead. Beware, just beware! read more

Had a great experience at Connecticut Stone today. We came in looking for a specific stone veneer for the front of our house and front steps. the computer showed very limited inventory for the veneer that we selected, but Peter W. actually went out to the yard, not once, not twice, but three times to verify quantity, pattern and corners for our project.To say that he went above and beyond is an understatement. Where do you ever get that kind of attention to detail and customer service? We highly recommend Connecticut Stone and Peter W, in particular. read more

My first visit to Connecticut Stone will be my last. I drove from Darien to Milford to view a specific tile by Artistic Tile featured on their website. The receptionist/greeter didn't know where Artistic Tile was displayed so she called on a salesman to assist me. Although he didn't recognize the tile or the vignette featuring the tile on their website he kindly offered to search the showroom for it, but with no luck. He then suggested that his colleague, Diane Hayden, would be better equipped to locate the tile. She also didn't recognize the tile nor the website vignette featuring it, but she believed she found it and excused herself to confirm that it was indeed the same tile. But I ended up milling about the showroom for a long while waiting for her to finish a tense conversation with another colleague in plain view, rather than excuse herself to assist me. So I left. That afternoon I emailed a request to her for trade pricing (I am an interior designer) on several tiles I had selected and later received an apologetic email requesting square footage, and to inform me that she was leaving on vacation, directing me to another person should I require immediate attention. I replied that I could wait, and that I only required the published trade costs at the time for budgetary purposes during the conceptual phase of the design process. That was March 11th; I haven't heard from her since. My advice: Don't waste your time here -- go to Tile America in Stamford. They're professional, courteous, and informed. Arrived about 20 min before closing and after we told them what we needed and gave dimensions we were taken to the yard. The salesman pointed out some quartz and said to see if there was anything we liked..all we could see were the ends of the pieces..when I asked if he could pull one out he said no..that's it. He was clearly in a hurry to end his day. We left and would never do business with this company! read more

At our first attempt to give Connecticut Stone our business, we found that they had closed their gates 15 minutes before closing, which is super convenient when you bother to leave work early to rush somewhere. This should have been the last time we attempted to deal with them, but we made the mistake of going back the next day (a bit earlier). Our business was rewarded with the delivery driver hitting my car with his forklift and subsequently denying responsibility. The man in charge of claims is rude and unhelpful and lacked even the slightest sense of concern. When I called to follow up a voicemail, he thought I was calling about a separate incident, so it sounds like their drivers crash their vehicles regularly. Plenty of other stone suppliers in the area, so spend your money elsewhere and protect your property from their irresponsible staff. read more

Our contractor (who is wonderful by the way-good review coming soon) recommended my husband and I to go to Connecticut Stone and I can only say that I will NEVER EVER go there again. We paid (in full) for the stone on April 2nd and they told us it would take about 2 weeks. Nope it wasn't that fast...one can only dream. Someone did not come to take measurements until the 14th (Really? 12 days waiting time to do a 15 minute job?) and then the waiting began. Apparently, these fools don't start the clock until the template is taken. I called and semi went off at Jeff and he claimed that "they're technically on time" and that someone will be in touch to come on the 30th. I get a phone on the 30th (today) from the installer saying that he can't come until Wednesday late in the afternoon (no specific time could be given of course-that would be too easy!). It's taken almost a full month just to get a stupid square put on to our bathroom counter. You'd think that you'd get good service for spending a pretty penny...but nope not with these people. I would not recommend even my worst enemies to use these guys. It isn't about service with them, because as soon as you put down the money, they couldn't care less. read more

When I walked into CT Stone's showroom I was very impressed! They have beautiful tiles, stonework and many decorative ideas for every area of your home and yard! It too bad that their sales staff doesn't want to be bothered with "just the average homeowner" I was told to go to the sales desk where a blond woman would be able to help me. I refer to her as the blond woman because she never gave me her name. I told her I needed some large boulders to block the end of my driveway. She took me to a pile of Rock, when I asked how much three to five boulders would cost she said she didn't know, she had to weigh it and then tell me, she gave me a weight ticket and told me to go back to the pile and pick out the rocks. While I was out there I found a bigger bunch of boulders and asked the gentleman if they were comparable to the others. He told me the first group sold for 200. Per ton and this group would be 150 per ton so I picked out 3 that I thought would work and asked him if I could also get a slab of rock for the front entry to the house he said sure not a problem and he called another salesperson who couldn't find what I needed and he referred me to Jeff who had been there longer. When I went to Jeff I said hello is your name Jeff? Well Jeff barked at me yes but I have an appointment, so I can't help you. I said fine and went out to the yard where I found what I was looking for myself. I went in to pay and the blond came up to the desk and told me they didn't have what I was looking for I would have to order it. Then she turned to another person and said I already took her in the yard and she changed her mind. As if I wasn't even standing there. I cancelled the order and told them I would go elsewhere. It's too bad such a beautiful place has such ugly help, and they really shouldn't have judged the kind of "homeowner" customer that I was. My whole family is in the contracting business and I will be sure to spread the word whenever I can. read more

I went there on a Saturday to purchase 2 pieces of bluestone. I went into the showroom an a blond older lady started helping me right away. I asked to see the pieces before I purchase them. She said okay let me see your license. I thought a little weird but handed her my license. She puts my license in a drawer an tells me to drive into the yard. I asked her for my license back and she got upset and pulled it out of the drawer an threw it across the counter!! She then told me I had to walk into the yard if I wanted to look at the stone I was inquiring about.. I put my license away an walked out!! Never will I step foot in this place again and I will tell everyone how BAD they are!!! I drove to O&G in Bridgeport an purchased what I needed at a cheaper price and was treated like a King!! Folks O&G is the place where they appreciate you and treat you Great!! Don't waste your time at Ct Stone!! read more

She was helpful, thoughtful and a pleasure to work with. Though they have a nice showroom, the don't seem to be set up for retail, but for contractors. We went on a Saturday looking to purchase wall tile. Though there were a number of employees there, apparently only one person could help us. Unfortunately that one person was with another customer. After waiting 45 minutes we took pics of the tile we wanted and left. I sent an email with the type of tile we were interested in and spoke to an individual over the phone. He indicated that he wouldn't be in the following Saturday but another person would be. He would give her the info and some trim samples to look at. I asked to make an appointment but that was not possible. We went back down ready to make purchase but the person we needed to speak to was with another customer. Again, there were numerous employees there but only one who could help us. We were told it would be thirty minutes. After 35 minutes we asked about how much longer and we were told 30 minutes. We left and made our purchase elsewhere which turned out for the best because their prices were significantly lower than Ct Stone. read more

When we decided to renovate our Bathroom and Fireplace we visited with Connecticut Stone Supplies for ideas and material selection. The Connecticut Stone team were very friendly and patient with us as we searched throughout the showroom samples and yard for just the right colors and materials. We purchase Granite for the Bathroom counter, Thinstone and Granite for the fireplace wall renovation. The installers for the stone and granite recommendations we received for the fireplace and bathroom installation we're fantastic. We liked the stone masons' work so much that we sent him back to Connecticut Stone Supples for more material to build us a large 3'x 3'x 6' stone locking mailbox column in the front yard. We highly recommended Connecticut Stone Supplies to our relatives and friends. read more

This was one of the most frustrating experiences I've ever had. I went in to the showroom with a very specific need. I was ready to purchase. I just needed someone to help me find the item because they have a large yard and it is not organized in a way that is easy to find anything. There were sales people wandering around and not helping anyone! When I asked one of them for help he said he "didn't deal with interior stuff" and he just kept wandering around not helping anyone. There was one saleswoman helping another customer but that customer just sat there hemming and hawing and couldn't make up her mind. So instead of the saleswoman multi tasking and helping other people while that customer was deciding she stood there while 3 other people were at the counter waiting for help. Then she made rude comments about us (the waiting customers) by saying to one of the guys "who doesn't do interior stuff" that "these people are so impatient and rude." I couldn't believe it! I seriously suspect this business is a front for some other operation because how else could they stay in business when they treat their customers this way? Just don't waste your time here. I would never pay someone to treat me the way I was treated here. And they don't seem to care - which is why I think there is some other way they stay in business? read more

As a landscape masonry contractor in the area for the past 15 years, I have run in to my fair share of unique situations. Connecticut Stone has always been able to go above and beyond to help me find exactly what I need to get the job done. From management to the yard staff everyone at Connecticut Stone is very helpful. Recently I was constucting a natural stone staircase leading from a patio to the beach. The project required large, individual rocks in specific shapes in order to create steps. My first and only stop for the stone was Connecticut Stone. They had exactly what I was looking for in shades that complemented the patio, stonework and copper trim of the home. HORRIBLE customer service. I'm sure if I was a contractor with a huge order it would be different. If I was a rich woman from Greenwich it would be different. But I am just a small contractor from Milford who needed stone for a Koi pond in my own yard. Went in and they directed me to a pile of stone outside and said an outside helper would give me a hand...he never showed up. Went inside and asked about it and was told to go back out and wait and he would be there soon. Again never showed up. So I muscled 2 stone onto my truck myself and went in and paid....I complained and all they said was they would tell Fred about it...Who the F@$% is Fred...I wish he would have come out to talk to me. Purchased counter tops a few years ago - got the quartz from another dealer since CT Stone didn't have the color we were looking for, but CT Stone was the fabricator. Counter tops were installed perfectly and on the date that was given. I recently decided that I wanted the same quartz put on my kitchen island, and again purchased the quartz from the same dealer as before, with CT Stone being the fabricator. We dealt with John at CT Stone, who couldn't have been more helpful with any and all of our questions and concerns. If he didn't respond immediately to a phone call or an e-mail, he would apologize. We were given a date when the counter would be installed, and the men were exactly on time, courteous, and skilled at their job. They even helped load the old granite top into a friend's truck. Yesterday, I went in to CT Stone with some samples of slate tiles I wanted to replace. The woman helping me was polite. She determined that even though I only needed 3 pieces of slate, my best bet would be to buy a 10 sq.ft. box with an assortment of sizes and colors and that they had such assortments in stock for $38.00. I was ok with that. I asked if I could check the contents of the box before buying it to be sure it had enough of the right sizes to let me finish my job. The answer, when addressed by one of the men in the office, was "No - not unless we have an open box." (I don't see how looking in one box could tell us what was in another box, but I'm probably not very swift with this stuff.) So, I could buy it, but I couldn't look at it until after I bought it. I told them I understood and left. What I understand is that the current housing boom and remodeling frenzy in CT must have CT Stone so busy that they don't care much about helping a homeowner out. Today, I went to Sasso Tile in West Haven. They looked at my samples and listened to what I told them I wanted.They took my phone number and got back to me within a few hours. They called a slate quarry in VT and arranged for the three pieces of slate to be shipped for me. Cost including shipping is far FAR less than the mystery box at CT Stone. How great is that?!! Plus, the people and the showroom at Sasso Tile were great! Some of the stone and tile they have there looks good enough to eat! Now, I'm hoping I can do some substantial projects with materials from Sasso Tile! read more

I have never had such bad customer service in my life. I walked into this place looking to have granite installed in my new kitchen. No one greeted me when I walked in. They all looked at me like I was bothering them. I had two small children with me and my wife. It was cold outside and pouring rain. The receptionist who was rude, pushed me off to someone at a desk in the back of the store. That lady treated me as if I was garbage. I asked her if I could see some samples of granite in our price range. She said "Yeah go outside to the back corner, those are our slabs." I asked which ones are in that price range, there are hundreds over there. She said, most of everything on that side is what we have. She then looked back down at her work and ignored us...despite us having small children with us and it was pouring rain/cold outside. We proceeded outside and their granite looked like garbage and i was hardpressed to find a slab greater than 5x3 to look at. We went back inside after being unimpressed. Not one associate acknowledged us at all. We walked by them all and left. No one said bye. If I was ever to actually want to buy stone from this place, I would resist to based on their extremely rude and unprofessional staff they have working there. I have never felt so unwelcome in a place where I was willing to spend money. I will never go back. read more

BUYER BEWARE - I purchased some stone tile from CT for a client. The client did not like it when she saw it. It was still boxed so I attempted to return it. After weeks of calling Marissa (who had taken the order) to get her to accept a return and having her ignore the calls, I finally made contact with Liz who said she would accept the return and then proceeded to continue this lack of communication with supposed emails that were sent to the wrong address. When I gave her the corrected address she claimed she could no longer accept the return as too much time had passed by. I was calling her every 2 days at this time and emailing her so she had the address on her computer - she was just ignoring my calls and emails. The place is a joke. Their customer service is non existent. - Not only this but Akdo forwarded me an email she had sent to them filled with complete lies about the status of the return and how she could not contact us - please!! (they were able to contact us fine when they wanted payment for the item) we would have been shocked but happy had she attempted to contact us at any time. BUYER BEWARE!!!! read more
