Had dinner here on a Saturday night in February. Glad we made a reservation on Resy because I saw the hostess turn away a couple parties. It's not big inside, maybe a dozen tables in total, but it was thoughtfully decorated with a small bar in the back. We had the most energetic fun waitress. We ended up drinking red wine and sharing the microgreen salad and the boar bolognese. She actually steered us away from a second main given how big the entrées portions were and she was definitely right. It ended up being perfect for the 2 of us. We have eaten here many times and would highly recommend it! They just changed up the dining room into a more cozy part of the lobby and I really liked it. Very inviting and cozy ambiance, the staff and service are wonderful, and the food is delicious! Great for families or couples. They have a very extensive kids menu as well but our little guy had the chicken gnocchi and loved it. And the best part is they give you kits to make s'mores after dinner in their fire pit. Originally we were going to eat at one of the other high-end resorts, like the DeBruce or the Arnold house, but ended up staying here. The ambience is upbeat with a beautiful deck overlooking the woods along a secluded road. I was impressed that the seltzer was complimentary, as they have an in house set up with pouring a spout in the hotel where you can actually fill up your bottles as well as complementary s'mores so we didn't need dessert. The appetizer you can see above the quail over couscous could've been an entrée. It was delicious as well as the skillet crisped chicken dish that I had was not as impressed with the trout. Could've been better season but nice presentation. I also loved the callicoo cooler cocktail, Delicious!. Great staff! I ate here on Friday June 6, and from the moment I stepped in the building and asked about the restaurant the staff was so pleasant and cheerful. I had a micro green salad and a chicken special. My girlfriend had a beet salad and the salmon filet. Everything tasted great. The server checked on us periodically. I'm not sure if it was the mountain air, or the staff got a raise that day but they were very jovial. This put smiles on our faces. Also, the decor was warm and comfortable. If I visit that area again I will stay at the Conover hotel and eat here again. read more

Food is okay but the vibe is definitely off. It's billed as a "friendly place for nice people" so we were expecting simple food in an unpretentious setting when we went in for dinner on a week night. It wasn't very busy and we had a reservation, but everyone we interacted with seemed annoyed that we were there. Cocktails took a while but were fine. I ordered a chicken sandwich and fries and my husband had the burger. Our waiter noticed my husband wasn't eating his food and insisted on knowing why, so he told him the burger was totally raw but that we didn't want a replacement or to have it taken off the check or anything, so no worries. About 15 minutes later he came to the table with another raw burger. It wasn't just undercooked, it was seared and raw inside both times. We're not complainers and hate to make a fuss but the waiter made it a big production. He seemed especially pissed off that my husband wouldn't eat the second raw burger, and kept saying he would love it microwaved at home every time he walked by the table after that. My chicken sandwich was pretty good and the cocktails were okay. Overall a little overpriced for what you get and it's not a place I'd recommend to a friend. Had it not been for the vibe we'd probably give it another shot because, again, the food is mostly okay. Every kitchen has an off night now and then, but the overall experience was just too weird for us. read more

We had such an amazing time at the Conover Club. We ordered the Professor and Wickhams Fancy for drinks. We got the squash soup and the sweet potato for appetizers. We got the vegetable curry and the L'orange duck for entrees, both were very flavorful. The food and drinks were amazing. A lot of their spirits were locally sourced, like the gin and rye from Catskills provisions. We were here during one of the coldest weekends, the place was cozy and had a fire throughout to keep us warm. The service was on point and we had such an amazing time. I ate at the Conover Club for dinner. I had the cauliflower steak and my wife had the salmon. We shared a hot goat cheese and tomato sauce appy. The appt was tasty. As was the main course. The problem was the portions. The cauliflower steak was more like an end cut mini piece. How many cauliflowers can you buy for $28? 10 maybe? Very small portion and certainly not worth $28. Cut a steak size piece. How about 2 steak sized pieces. Not a morsel. Same with the fish. Small portion and not worth $30. The place kind of runs itself. We had to search for a manager to let them know we had arrived. Though we enjoyed the preparation the portions were disappointing. Otherwise our Negroni's were great. read more

From the drinks on the whole meal was delicious! I took my mom here for her birthday and this gem in the middle of callicoon hills was the perfect spot! It had an upscale feel while still feeling cozy and comforting. The server was so nice and welcoming and was very knowledgeable about everything on the menu. We started with the scallops, wings, and cheese curds. Our mains were the chicken with mole sauce and the homemade gnocchi with artichokes. We finished the night with the Indian spiced rice pudding and the flourless chocolate cake accompanied with DELICIOUS coffee ( a cappuccino and a latte). For an upstate restaurant it's pretty darn good. Their wings are incredible! They confit them and they just fall apart. And if you see the trout dip, don't be scared it's quite amazing. The food and vibe are good, but the service is not. When we asked what's in one of their deserts, our server told us to Google it. When someone brought over my soup they practically ran away and never returned with a spoon. When I tried to get someone's attention another server said, "you have to wait" meanwhile I just sat there with soup getting cold. The plating is also weird- tiny dishes... don't know what's up with that. Our cocktails were great and the food is good too. Ive been twice this week [july 2021] to the HIlls in Callicoon Center, one of the Conover Club places. Ive been here many times under different names. My daughter waitressed here 15 years ago. The place has been made over beautifully with casual class I'd say it is. The dinners were super! There is a choice of the deck, or the inside by the bar and fireplace. The meals are from simple sides, wedges of Sweet potatoes or seasoned veggies, to main meals of hanker steaks or chicken or trout. According to wine snobs I went with, there is a fabulous wine menu. We were excited to see and dine at this new restaurant in our community but were very disappointed. It is not a dining experience, it is more of a loud bar scene if that is what you enjoy. The dining room is located in the cocktail lounge and the tables were only about a foot apart, that eliminated any privacy. The waitress had a difficult time moving around the tables. The menu is limited and quirky. For an appetizer we tried the trout dip and chicken wings. The chicken wings were deep fried and coated with a maple bourbon sauce which was very sweet with not much flavor. The trout dip was bland, I thought it may have been a smoked trout which would have elevated the flavor. Our main course was also very uneventful. One of my parties fish was not cooked and needed to be sent back. The pork chop was tough and came with a few wedges of sweet potatoes. The chicken dish was a very small portion of chicken accompanied by some greens and corn niblets, which left my husband still hungry. It also was nothing to write home about. For dessert , which was a very limited menu again , we had the Toffee pudding with ice cream which was delicious, but really we did not have much of a choice on dessert.
