Quirky perhaps, but staffed by people who know - and give a damn - about boats.

Let me tell you, the process from my accepted offer to the last signature was nothing less than extraordinary for this newbie. Nathalie was always accessible to answer questions and offer good suggestions and related services. The surveyor she introduced me to was diligent and extremely professional from the actual practice to an excellent report. The quantity of her many satisfied clients is obviously a direct reflection of the quality service Nathalie and the staff at Boatmax provide."

For starters, I was lied to about the boat having a generator. I was told repeatedly there was a generator, and "what a great price this is considering it has a generator." Lo and behold, we find out 10 minutes after signing that there is not a generator. We thought "well, shame on us trusting them and not verifying ourselves", but decided to start the boat, cut our losses, and move on. Well, the boat wouldn't start. After an entire team of mechanics came down the boat and spent 45 minutes inspecting and trying to find an issue, they sloppily used a plastic bag to "repair" a leaking water issue and found that the battery had died. They recharged the battery, and told us that we won't have any more issues as the battery just needed to be jumpstarted after being out of the water for a while during the sale. 15 minutes later, an engine shuts down while on the water. An hour later, the second engine shuts down. We were sitting ducks in the middle of the Hudson. The boat would not start. We called BoatMax repeatedly during this entire fiasco and were essentially told that no issues were found during the inspection or bay test and that the boat is now ours. We finally got towed to our marina 6 hours later. We charged the battery overnight (thinking that maybe it just needed more charge), but everytime we have taken the boat out, even for 15 minutes, at least one engine fails. It has been a nightmare. I just paid thousands of dollars for the boat to undergo a thorough inspection and for all parts to be disabled and tested. It turns out that the boat has major engine failure to the point where it is completely UNSAFE to use and is prone to EXPLODING. I am now having to pay $7,500 to get it to the point where it is even safe to drive, and another $12,000 to fix additional issues that are not immediately crucial but are necessary within the next 12 months for the boat to continue operating. Do not be scammed. Avoid BoatMax.

I just had him wrap my boat abd it included, a Boat Dehumidifier, 2 air vents, and a access door with zipper. Today is November 27th, 2022. The price was $280. Everyone else was $350 and up. Crazy. I recorded the install, and here is the video if you wanted to see his workmanship. https://youtu.be/p82KmjqEPHQ I gave him the JoeteckTips instant Awesome Rating and I recommend his services. In the spring he will be detailing and painting the bottom of the boat that is how happy I am. Thank you Mike!

My son had a seam open up on his wrapped furniture and called Mike at Lukens. Mike told him he was out of town for a family wedding but would come by the following week to address the issue. He never came to resolve the issue. Today I opened up our patio furniture and there was easily 3" of water pooled on the bottom of the shrink wrap packaging and there were decayed leaves in the shrink wrapping as well. Clearly the shrink wrap wasn't properly sealed at the time it was applied. There was rusty water running out of the legs of the patio table and bench. My deck has visible signs of rust stains from where the water accumulated and came in contact with the furniture frames. Covering the pieces with furniture covers in prior years wasn't a good solution. The covers would blow off and water would penetrate. I expected a more professional outcome by choosing to shrink wrap the pieces. Clearly that was not the outcome we received. I won't use or recommend Lukens Marine Services for shrink wrapping in the future.
