I've been searching for real Turkish food in Portland for such a long time, and finding Constantinople honestly made my day. I ordered the lahmacun, and it brought back so many memories. I've missed this flavor so much, and it was exactly what I was craving -- thin, crispy, perfectly spiced, and absolutely delicious. You can really feel the care and authenticity in the food. The only thing I wish is that they would add Iskender kebab to the menu -- my husband loves it, and it would be amazing to have it here too. I ordered quite a few dishes from Constantinople to celebrate a milestone birthday in my home with about 15 guests. The food was fabulous and exceeded my expectations! I ordered a combination of different entrees that included beef, chicken, lamb, fish and a number of vegetarian entrees and sides. My personal favorite was the beef Moussaka! The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. They called to confirm the order several days in advance to ensure that everything was clear about the order. The food was ready and packaged up exactly on time. Though I ordered a lot of food per guest, most of it was eaten - so we had some leftovers, but not overwhelmingly. In other words, my guests loved the food and hoped I have another party soon! This experience was really great. I will order food from Constantinople again when I have another significant event. Great friendly service and nice presentation but food overall was disappointing, except the puffy bread. Mezze (cold appetizer tray) was so small. Hummus was bland and grapes leaves tasted like they came straight from a can. Lamb stew with apricots was cooked well but had little seasoning. My spouse and I had to add salt to everything we ordered. Chicken kebab was dry and overcooked. Menu is too long with items like pasta & pizza and an Indian inspired dish, and a stir fry dish. If they focus on some key signature dishes and just season with more salt, that would elevate their dishes. Unfortunately we will not be going back. read more

Definitely "rounding up" on my rating here. Last night's dinner at Constantinople was OK, but definitely not great. The black manhattan drink was way too sweet, gin martini easy and lovely. 4 people, ordered carat tarator (pretty much no one appreciated this dish), imam bayildi (good, love eggplant), arugula parm salad (good) and the kebab assortment. Several bites of the kebab assortment had some sort of gristle and for the most part, all meat was quite well done (as in way thoroughly cooked). Both sauces were tasty, as were the rice/onion/cabbage accompaniments, but oddly enough they didn't provide any sort of utensil to serve the rice or other items which was a little awkward. Maybe we could have ordered better, I dunno. Probably will give it another go in a few weeks trying alternative menu choices. I've been to Turkey quite a few times and so far this misses the mark for my personal Turkish cuisine preferences. read more

Great place! Food was excellent, staff was friendly and kind, place is cozy yet spacious, and who doesn't love Turkish food? Seriously, we had the halloumi, garlic yogurt dip, and a veggie stuffed pastry (muska) as appetizers. For dinner, we ate all of: chicken shish kebab, beef/lamb kebab, wok steel beef, and the sultan stuffed chicken. And kunefe, rice pudding and chocolate soufflé for dessert. All of it was amazing. This place is very authentic! My boyfriend is Turkish, so we have tried Turkish restaurants all along the west coast, and this is my favorite. Turkish cuisine is very unique, so if you're expecting Mediterranean or more west Asian/middle eastern foods like you may have had before, it might surprise you. We were very happy this restaurant seems to prioritize authentic flavors and dishes. This restaurant has really amazing service, and a great atmosphere. We've been here on two dates and it feels very romantic, but still good for groups and families. I recently moved to the neighborhood and can't wait to eat here all the time! read more

Really special service that you just don't experience in the US. Also the bread was phenomenal, it's a whole other experience to get it right out of the oven. I highly recommend the mezze platter with raki. Also before you go, learn how to pronounce "raki". I can't wait to go back and actually get the Adana Kebab because I heard the chef is actually from Adana. We tried this new restaurant for our Valentine's date. I loved the menu options; we had the Muska pastry appetizer, Moutanjana, and Sultan's Favorite, and each one was flavorful and delicious. We will definitely get the Pottery Kebab next time, as that came to several nearby tables and smelled amazing while making a very large serving. I will say that the tables are packed together so the experience was not very intimate or private; a fully audible conversation happening on either side makes your own conversation a bit hard to track. The restaurant staff are attentive and friendly in the hospitable Middle Eastern way. We chatted amicably with our waiter about our brief experience in Istanbul. I only found out about Constantinople just recently when it was suggested by a friend that we go there. I am so glad that we did! We were there for lunch and I want to tell you that the food was absolutely phenomenal! We ordered the imam biyaldi, grilled meatballs, lahmacun, and rice pudding and strawberry ice cream for dessert. Before our food arrived we were given their bread (I believe it's called balon lavas) and it was yummy! It's a plus that the restaurant has its own parking. The restaurant was spacious and had such a great vibe to it. The service was outstanding. Our server was so welcoming and friendly. We will definitely be back! As a Turkish person, I truly cannot express how happy I am to finally have an authentic Turkish restaurant in Oregon that serves real Turkish flavors. Everything we tried was absolutely outstanding. We have been searching for Turkish food across the PNW for a long time. While we enjoyed some places, this is the first time we genuinely tasted Turkish food the way it is meant to taste -- especially dishes like lahmacun, which was spot on. The atmosphere was wonderful: warm, welcoming, and nostalgic, with 90s Turkish pop music playing in the background. The staff were incredibly kind, respectful, and attentive, which made the experience even more special. Portions were generous, the presentation was beautiful, and the overall service was excellent. To be honest, as Turkish people, we tend to approach Turkish restaurants abroad with a bit of prejudice -- not in a negative way, but because we know the real flavors so well and naturally compare everything to home. This place completely exceeded our expectations. Every bite reminded us of Türkiye. I feel genuinely proud to see a restaurant like this representing Turkish cuisine with such care, authenticity, and hospitality. We will definitely be coming back every week or every other week. I just read the recent article on Constantinople in the Oregonian and thought I would add more comments on the food. We recently went back for a second try and once again were let down. Not sure why the food is so boring here. They seem to have all the elements of a good restaurant: engaged staff, good location, well thought out environment, but the food is just.....well, boring. I suspect it's the difference between having a cook and a chef prepare the food. The latter often make sure to go beyond what might be considered regional cuisine, but even that doesn't make sense as we've been to Turkey and found the food there to be really fresh and exceptional, no matter where we ate. Oh well, guess we'll stick with other mediterranean restaurants in Portland such as MEC that are much better. read more
