Came here on Thursday evening and there was no wait. It's a small cozy corner cafe serving up authentic Moroccan food. I don't know how I've missed this place the last 4 years I've been in the area. We ordered the beet salad and chickpea vegetable tagine with couscous and the food came quickly. And wow. Both dishes were amazing. The vegetable tagine was full of flavor, moist, and had 7 types of vegetables!!! It's like a feast platter. And the beets had a refreshing flavor and were still slightly crispy. Portion sizes are on the large side which means incredible value and that you may end up with leftovers. Delicious leftovers. We ended up meeting the owner and he's super chill. My only one piece of feedback is I wish the Moroccan music played a little more loudly since I love hearing music from other cultures. I heard it playing softly but heck, it sounds kind of cool. Either way, will definitely be coming back.

OKAAYY ate this with a couple of fast eaters so i only got like a potato but you know what good, i was avoiding the vegetables anyways so in this way no one noticed. meatball was awesome i bet i mean i know i mean yes i remember just wished i had more bites i think maybe who knows just remember potato but potato good. everything else tomato but good strong special tomato flavor with spices i know it.

Kasbah is such an excellent dining experience that it feels like a trip to Morocco without leaving Portland. The interior is decorated with a traditional colorful design inspired by Moroccan roots and creates a cozy and authentic atmosphere. The food is hearty and has simple yet very delicious flavors. Tried the Moroccan Beet salad and a 7-vegetable tagine and both were so good! They offer quite a few meat options as well. The dishes also had a generous portion size. The owner is friendly and attentive and explained how he makes some of the dishes. Overall a great place and we'll definitely be back.

Amazing service! The music was so fun and the vibe the place was so traditional and beautiful! Food 10/10 absolutely amazing, you can tell the chef puts his Moroccan touch to everything he makes. This is a must have in Portland and possibly one of the best Moroccan joints I've ever been to!!

What a wonderful little cafe! The food was amazing, service was great and ambiance was colorfully decorated in Morrocan handicrafts. We were in downtown Portland and did a search on Tunisian food, but didn't find anything nearby, but there were listings for Morrocan food, including this little place a few blocks from the hotel. It is not in the best part of town, but has apparently been there many years. We had to order food at the counter, and had to use a square to see the menu. We weren't super hungry, so we ordered 2 cups of Moroccan yellow split pea soup, 2 carrot salads and 2 B'stilla. The soup was amazing and we could have eaten more. In retrospect we could have shared the salads and B'stilla, because the portions were huge. Everything was excellent and we had plenty of leftovers to bring back to the hotel. While we were there, there a couple of people who came in just for tea to go, so when we were ready to leave I ordered Morrocan tea. It was boiling hot and absolutely wonderful! Worth the burn.

I came here with a friend about 8 years ago. When I lived in Portland, I came here frequently and now that I live elsewhere, I try to make my way here when I'm in town. This restaurant is one of the homiest places with incredible food. Seriously, I dream about the Merguez Tagine and tell everyone to visit. Today, I brought my husband here for the first time to celebrate our anniversary and he fell in love with it just as much as me. I cannot tell you how much I love sitting and drinking tea while eating this food. It feels like I'm being invited inside their home.

Absolutely delicious! Also got their moroccan mint tea and it was sweet and refreshing. I got it hot but next time want to try it iced. It's counter service and you serve yourself utensils and water.

Kasbah lives up to its reputation. Deeply satisfying, hearty, nourishing, and delicious. I had the stuffed batbot sandwich with the yellow lentil soup and an iced mint tea as a reviewer a month ago recommended this. The sandwich had such fresh ingredients and was simultaneously light with the fresh cucumber and lettuce and tomatoes and hearty with the meat patty and fried egg. The real star for me was the lentil soup which was a rich umami soup. I'm coming back for more of that soup! The sweet mint iced tea was refreshing on a warm day. I left with a full belly and a happy smile. This restaurant is family run and they are so nice! I'm happy to eat here.

Chicken Bastilla inside 4.5/5 very tasty. Would have liked more chicken

This tiny spot is a must visit! The decor looks to be collected items from the owner, and I enjoyed the music. We picked our own seat and ordered at the counter. The food and drink were brought out as they were ready. Everything was delicious and not quite like anything I'd had before. I want to go back to try more of the menu! Next time, Portland. Another table nearby said it was better than the Moroccan food they had in Morocco.

Overall Thoughts: The 5 star reviews don't lie; this spot is seriously incredible. The stuffed batbot sandwich was among the best sandwiches I've ever had and the iced Moroccan mint tea was a fantastic pairing. This is a spot that makes me upset that I don't live in/closer to Portland. It's counter service, and the staff/owner are super friendly and the food comes out quickly. The prices are very reasonable given the quality and portions. There isn't a ton of seating inside, but it was pretty much empty when I went in for lunch on a Thursday. The interior is decorated nicely and patriotically, with beautiful tiles and flags adorning the walls. Food I tried: - Stuffed Batbot Sandwich with Yellow Split Pea Soup (5/5): This is no doubt among the best sandwiches I've ever eaten. The bread is wonderful, springey and spongey. The kefta patty is delicious-- juicy with robust flavors and without even a tinge of dryness. I loved the warm, lightly runny egg and cheese paired with the cold, crispy veggies. The soup was also hearty and creamy with delicious hints of smokey paprika. You can really taste the olive oil layer on top which added a rich, earthy flavor to it. It's large and filling, and more than worth the money. - Iced Moroccan Mint Tea (4.8/5): So refreshing and tasty! It was sweeter than expected, but delicious with hints of minty flavor. It was the perfect, light palette cleanser between bites of my savory, rich sandwich and soup. -- Price (relative to peers): 4.6/5 Food: 4.9/5 Ambience: 4.9/5 Service: 5/5 Overall Value: 4.9/5

Although I visited Kasbah about a month ago (my apologies for such a late posting), I still think about the food. Needless to say, Kasbah served some of the best food I've had in a long time. My friends and I were visiting Portland for just the weekend, and I'm so glad that we stopped by here. We were hungry at 6 pm on a Saturday, and although we were the only ones in the restaurant for a while, a few other parties did show up. Don't be fooled, this place should be full to the brim with a line out the door!! I tried the split pea soup, and halved the lamb tangine and seafood tangine with a friend. Everything tasted phenomenal. Seasoned perfectly, large portion sizes (I eat a lot and was so hungry that day but had enough for breakfast the next morning). Everything was very fresh and just so good. It's the ultimate comfort food. Also got to try the mint tea which was great as well. The owner runs almost a one man show. He's at the front of the house, he's in the kitchen, he's talking to customers. Tip this man well!! If I were a Portland native, I would frequent this place so much. Kasbah needs a Gordon Ramsey or Keith Lee to make it go viral to match how good the food is. Seriously, go try the food!!

    Makouda Sandwich

One of the best restaurants in Portland. Redefines the word home to any person yet born in Morocco!! Find the love of your life at Kasbah Moroccan Cafe!!!!!

So good it made me cry. Naji is the SWEETEST human, good food and ingredients are his first priority and it shows. As someone with sever food allergies I felt very safe. thanks, Naji!

Pictured is a "half pound of brisket" for $23.00 and 60%-70% of it is just inedible fat! What was edible (3.4 ounces), was honestly disgusting and looks nothing like the photos they show online, as you can see for yourself. $11.00 for a cup of sour smelling banana pudding that was immediately tossed in the trash. $4.00 for a "chicken breast" that was literally 2 bites... This is the second and last time we will ever order from them again. I have never been more disappointed in an order of food in my entire life. We spent over $70 for the brisket as shown, a small salad with 2 bites of chicken, soggy coleslaw and sour banana pudding. Beyond unacceptable! Never again and truly hope this saves someone else from the disappointment that Reverend's BBQ truly is. Complete waste of money! Edit: It has been about 45 minutes since I ate what little of the brisket that was actually meat and not just fat, and I am extremely nauseous. Not worth the money, disappointment or naseau. Just looking at the photo alone, I wonder why I even tried eating it. Absolutely disgusting.

BEST MEAL IN PORTLAND!!!!!…read more Saw this place randomly while looking for a place to eat after a long flight. It was late and not many places were open. This place was closed but a middle eastern place that serves cheesecake was soo intriguing that i knew i needed to come back. Came back Saturday night and they had no tables and was packed. However, they tried to accommodate us so much. However, the night was in our favor. As we started to order take out, a lady was kind enough to give up her table since she was eating alone. It was a small table for 3 people but the staff was sooo accommodating i have no words. They even gave free dessert to the lady who was kind. Then luck would have it, the table next to us never showed up for their reservation so they gave us that table. Finally, we ordered. Turned out, i also got the last shawarma too. Everything happens for a reason! We also got the Saudi chicken kabsa and cheesecakes. The biggest compliment i can give is when the food came, none of us talked for a good 5-7 mins and just sat there in heaven eating. The flavors were soo unique but yet so familiar. If this is Saudi food, i have been missing out. I need to explore more sub categories of middle eastern cuisine. Best bites in Portland for us and that's all i have to describe our experience. Finally, got the Nutella cheesecake and almond caramel cheesecake. I have to say, Nutella was good but easily a skip compared to almond and caramel. Just get 2 of those and you'll be happy. The cakes itself are light and not heavy. They were great end to a great meal. This is a family owned but family loved business. You can see the love as they serve their guests but you can taste the love too. The people are soo sweet and kind and just want to serve you. All the ingredients felt fresh and the dishes were bright in color and taste. Despite the larger quantity of food, the meal overall felt well- balanced, healthy, and not too heavy or decadent. I keep thinking about the hamachi crudo that came with this amazing smoky eggplant that complemented the vinaigrette on the fish perfectly. The radicchio salad was addictingly good with the fruity burst of sweetness from the cherries. The hummus is insanely rich and pairs well with the thick, fluffy pita.
