I booked a "Therapeutic Table Massage" with Shannon Trudeau and had a very traumatic experience…read more When I arrived I explained to her I like firm pressure and was having issues with my shoulders and neck and upper back being very tight and I would like to primarily focus on those areas. The first 30 minutes of my massage were her guiding some sort of yoga nidra exercise with no actual massaging. I had to ask her when the massage would actually start. She seemed to have a huge ego about the request and continued her guided exercise. Once she did start "massaging" me, it was just her placing her hands on my body very lightly and doing static holds on trigger points. I explained to her I would Like more muscle stimulation in the form of a faster deeper massage but she didn't listen to my requests and kept doing the things she was doing that I did not ask for. She didn't pay attention tho the specific areas that I came in to address and spent most of the time on my arms and legs. She talked the majority of the massage and kept instructing me to take deep breaths. I do not come in to this for a therapy session which is what it felt like. The table was cold and so was the room. I had to ask her to turn the heat on the table mid session because I was freezing and her hands were freezing. She did not seem to have any knowledge of anatomy, massage, or draping. After the session was over she sat me down and wanted to go over her "findings" and it felt really uncomfortable having someone tell me all the areas in my body she noticed I was tight but not actually using the time I paid for to resolve any of those issues. I did not book a trigger point massage, a reiki session, or a therapy session. I mentioned to her multiple times I was not wanting the type of "massage" she gave me and she said that "energetically we may not be a good fit" - in my option this is such a rude thing to say to someone who was very clear about the massage I wanted to receive and requested it multiple times only to be completely ignored - probably because this person is not educated enough or capable of doing actual massage. This practitioner is borderline harmful and should not be practicing any healing modality. I felt disgusting after leaving her session. I felt completely ignored and judged. I debated weather or not I should leave this review but after experiencing this I wanted other people to know the potential harms of booking with this practitioner. Please remove her from "therapeutic table massage" because she didn't actually massage me and this is really misleading for customers.

This was easily the worst Brazilian wax I've ever had. For starters, my esthetician did not leave the room for me to get undressed and get on the table. I have never had that happen to me, and made me uncomfortable from the jump. For context, I've been waxing for about 2 years now. This wax hurt more than when I tried sugaring a few months back, which hurt like noooobody's business. My esthetician pulled almost every strip off in two pulls, which prolonged the pain. I've had estheticians sometimes pull strips in two rips if it's a big one, but never EVERY SINGLE ONE. At the end of the wax, she went back and did a few clean up strips AND tweezed. I was confident that she did a good job, even though she didn't offer a mirror to look at her work. As soon as I got into my car, I lifted my dress just to peek. When I tell you PATCHES! I have NEVER had an esthetician miss so. many. hairs. And not like thin, lighter hairs that the wax can't grab. Thick, coarse hairs that definitely could have and should have been removed. I was so disappointed. Not to mention, this is the most expensive Brazilian I've ever had ($62 BEFORE TIP). Definitely not worth the money, and I won't be back.

I have always had a good experience with the optometrists but have had issues with the opticians the past two years. Last year, my prescription was changed such that all the negative powers were entered as positive and vice versa. I had only discovered the problem after picking up the glasses late one Saturday afternoon and had to have the lenses remade once they figured out what the error was. This year, I went in and found out that they no longer supply Essilor lenses and coatings which are my preference. This is because I used to work for the company that makes the equipment that Essilor uses to put coatings on their lenses so I am well aware of the quality of Essilor's lenses and coatings. I was a bit hesitant but decided to get glasses anyway since I was there. They came in about 10 days later but I received a message that they didn't pass a quality check and they were being sent back to be remade. I got the final pair about 2 weeks later. I had only worn them 3 or 4 times when I noticed a small smudge in the corner about 2 weeks after that. I tried removing it with the cloth provided, then with the cloth and water, and finally with lens cleaning spray, always with the lens cloth. Since it wasn't coming off, I took it in thinking they could get it off but they said it was a scratch. To be fair, I did not have the scratch warranty as I've had glasses for 45 years and never had an issue and having worked in the business am aware how to care for them. To me, it seemed like a defect. The optician's exact words were, "Well, you didn't purchase the warranty so there's nothing we can do. Have a good day." And then she walked away. Well, I'm walking away from this business.

After hearing good things about a local massage therapist, Brian Hicks, I decided to book a massage with him at Contact High. After years of rigorous yoga, I needed some relief from a sore upper back/shoulder area and tight hips from office job. After sharing with Brian my body aches, he did a short yet reflective centering exercise with me even before I got on the table. Once I was on the table and he started working in my mid upper back area, I knew that this was going to be a relaxing and effective hour. For this deep tissue massage, Brian helped work out the sore spots in my body and left me feeling more grounded and in touch with myself. As a yogi, I get to be in contact with lots of body workers and I have to say that Brian has a special way of working with people and his knowledge/ work with massage is some of the best I've experienced. I decided to create a Yelp account just so I was able to write a review for Contact High Massage because it was such a great experience! I work with the head massage therapist, Marvin Chambers, because of his signature skill of clinical deep tissue massage. After four years of college hockey and two hip surgeries, Marvin's work allows me to remain active as I deal with the scar tissue remaining in my hips and the muscle tightness surrounding my hips. Deep tissue massage isn't for everyone, but I promise you it is absolutely necessary for anyone dealing with chronic issues. I haven't tried the other massage options yet, but I'm sure the standard Swedish massage is fantastic because if Marvin can perform the most technical massage flawlessly, I'm sure the other massage types are just as great! This was my second time booking an appointment with Brian. I have severe upper back stress as well as in my shoulders and neck. I also have scoliosis which causes even more stress with my posture and basic range of motion. I enjoy a lot of pressure during massages and I was pretty vocal about that in my first consultation, most people are timid to go as hard as I would like them to go but I did not run into this problem with Brian. The pressure was perfect and he totally paid attention to the stress points that I mentioned. I walked out of my appointment today feeling like a huge weight had been lifted. I have been recovering from ACL surgery. Marvin has become a very important member of the team approach I am using to recover (doctor, PT, and Marvin). I was not making as much progress in my healing until I found Marvin. He has helped loosen the tight muscles that I have had post-surgery. I had a massage with Brian. He got right to the places that were problems and didn't waste time on places that weren't. He reminded me to "breathe" into some manipulations. Marvin is a god send. HIs technique is different than anything I've encountered before. I've got anxiety/depression that causes pretty bad muscle tightness/soreness. As soon as i get off the table after a session with Marvin, my body is at complete peace as he had found every problem area, some I didn't know existed prior to getting on the table! At times when I spend up to 12 hours at work, I have some really bad low back and wrist pain from sitting down and working at a desk. Angel uses a combination of reiki and MFR (myofasical release) massage on me, and I always leave feeling super relaxed a lot bette the next day compared to someone who just digs into your muscle like some Swedish massage masseuses I've had before. Post massage, he leaves really yummy European chocolates for you as well. What I also appreciate is that I'm able to book appointments with him via text message.

The setup process was quite easy -- send an e-mail or text to set up an appointment. Ling responded and was able to set me up for the same day. Ling owns a studio inside a house. The space was clean and spacious. The massage was awesome! As a daily runner and walker, it really knocked some sense into me that I needed to rest. The deep tissue massage alerted me on areas on my body, where I needed to work on. The stretches were great too! the massage was so worth it. I highly recommend Ling! She's professional and helpful.
