(Let's hope I don't get wasted and forget this pair in the dryer like the last one.) They've got tons of Dickie's stuff although not nearly as much Carhartt as they used to. I like the Dickie's "cell phone pants" - thusly named for weird cell phone sized pockets in the right pant legs. It was only $15 for pairs in oddball colors, just like the last time I was here and bought an orange pair. I was tempted to go for a sky blue pair this time, but decided $40 on a pair of overalls was enough to drop for one day. They had a bunch of funky caps and visors by the front door, like caps with the old Pistons logo or Memphis ABA caps. You can also find socks, t-shirts and drawers here, though you might find them for a better price at Cheap Charlie's. How can you not love a clothing store that has an autographed photo of Ice T to greet you right when you walk in the door? My blood pressure drops when I walk into National Dry Goods, perhaps because I associate it with my personal cloak against uptightness - a good pair of overalls.

This place is very urban, catering to city residents, parents shopping for DPS school uniforms, and community groups buying screen printed items. That said, I was very comfortable there and was assisted by a top notch staff, including the security guy that was wearing an insulated waterproof/windproof Carhartt baseball that has become my favorite item of clothing. Ben helped me escalate it in person and I got my refunds, within the hour or 2, as well as my return labels for what I received but decided not to keep. Great value suits at great prices, they really do look and fit great; nice selections too, great in-store phone customer service. Give Ben a raise ASAP! A Warning About Roman -- Tailor at The Suit Depot…read more My husband purchased several new suits from The Suit Depot in Oak Park and spent a significant amount of money on them. Because the suits needed alterations, The Suit Depot recommended Roman, the tailor located in the back of their store. Based on that recommendation, my husband trusted Roman with his brand-new suits. Unfortunately, that turned into an extremely disappointing and costly experience. My husband told Roman that he needed the suits for an important public speaking engagement that was more than a month and a half away. Five weeks later, the alterations still were not finished. With only about a week remaining before the event, Roman assured him that everything would be completed in time. When my husband finally received the suits, we were horrified by the condition of the alterations. The pants had been altered so poorly that although Roman was able to make one pair look decent enough for my husband to wear for his speaking engagement, my husband could not comfortably take his suit jacket off during the event because of how badly the pants looked. Afterward, he decided he did not trust Roman to attempt another repair and took the pants to a different tailor. That tailor was able to correct the pants. However, once my husband brought everything home and examined the jackets more carefully, he discovered additional problems with Roman's work. One of the suit jackets no longer had its proper lining and had been left with rough, unfinished-looking edges underneath. Now the jackets have to be taken to another tailor as well. This has turned what should have been an exciting purchase of beautiful new suits into an expensive and frustrating ordeal. I strongly advise anyone purchasing a suit from The Suit Depot: DO NOT use Roman for your alterations. I repeat, DO NOT use Roman the tailor. I also believe The Suit Depot should seriously reconsider recommending Roman to its customers. My husband used him specifically because The Suit Depot recommended him. When customers spend thousands of dollars purchasing new suits from a business, they reasonably expect that a tailor recommended by that business will be capable of altering those garments without damaging them. Instead, we are now spending additional money with another tailor trying to repair brand-new suits that had already cost thousands of dollars. We are extremely disappointed. The Suit Depot may sell beautiful suits, but based on our experience, their recommendation of Roman for alterations has negatively affected our opinion of the entire purchase. Please be very careful about whom you allow to alter your investment.

One word...Paranoid. This was the most unwelcoming establishment I have ever stepped foot in, ever…read more I wanted to give this place a try despite the rough and cheap looking items displayed and the shabby look of the exterior. It all screamed cheap to me and I even hesitated to even enter at all. My husband refused to go in and told me to leave my wallet behind as he felt it wasn't a safe place to enter even. I finally decided to try it out by the off chance that I might discover some flat shoes. I took a few pictures of the exterior and a few of the interior. The petite brunette woman with her hair tied back tightly asked what I was doing from behind the counter and I told her that I am a Yelp reviewer and was taking photos for my review. She said she was scared and was wondering why I was taking photos was all. I asked if I wasn't allowed to review this place and she said that it was fine. I browsed around some at the flats looking for a pair of silver and gold flats, that I have been in search for months now. As I was browsing the shoe aisle, this same woman was on the phone watching me like a suspicious and paranoid hawk. She then told me with a stern tone, while she was on the phone that she was on the phone with her boss and was told that I am not allowed to take any photos of her store. I told her that's too bad since I had already taken some photos when she gave me the go ahead earlier. I took no further photos and abruptly walked out of the store. I was in my car and my husband said the same skeptical woman came by the door and was clearly watching us while still on the phone. He said we should leave the parking lot immediately as he felt she was about to come out and approach us in the car to accost us or admonish us further about taking photos after the fact. This same woman acted as if I was either from a competitor store or from ICE, I am none of the aforementioned. I felt their treatment was uncalled for, rude, discomforting, suspicious and shady beyond words. Their ill treatment of me was tantamount to chasing me out with a big stick. It is unpardonable for a retail store or any business of value to treat customers this horribly. What ghastly service. Come only if you feel like being berated and treated and viewed as a social pariah, otherwise, next! They clearly have trust issues since they have a sign on the door that clearly states that all bags are to be left in the front. I had no issue leaving a bag or not even bringing one in the first place. I left my bag in the car and took only my wallet. The owner and staff member ought to be ashamed of themselves. It's highly recommended and very clear that the staff and owner here need to work on their trust issues and take customer service 101.
