Delicious bbq outside on Sundays! Ribs (pork and beef) and chicken!
    Janna L.

The store itself... I did go in to buy kleenex and a stamp... BUT it was a Sunday and the BBQ outside was going! (GJ's) If you are on the BI and you see those birds and ribs on the grill, do yourself a favor and pull in! The chicken was up there with some of the best I have ever had, Maybe 2nd best of my lifetime. Hubby got the half chicken meal for $10. You get the bird, mac. salad and I believe the other item was rice. I was so focused on the chicken. We should have got another plate! It was perfect. Needed nothing. No seasoning, nor condiments. The locals know about this place and one woman told us she comes here no matter what to buy her Sunday chicken meal. I want some now!

Perfect lunch stop for those on their way to Waipio Valley or heading out to Waimea or Hilo side. My partner and I shared the Tri-tip sandwich and a quiche. The quiche had a golden flaky crust, peppery bacon, and fluffy eggs. So good we forgot to take a picture. lol. The sandwich was packed with flavorful beef, roasted peppers, arugula, and a spicy horseradish sauce all on poi bread. Pricey at $18, but big enough for two to share. The combination of toppings on the homemade crunchy poi bread makes it worth it! Service was pretty quick, friendly, and helpful. There's so many cool local products to look at while you wait, so that's a nice way to pass the time. There's also outdoor seating and a bookshelf to browse. We definitely want to try more of their delicious sandwiches. Honokaa Country Market will be our go-to sandwich spot on the island!

We were served THE most delicious fried chilen by the sweet auntie back there cooking away. Mac salad was THE bomb! The chicken katsu plate with two huge scoops of rice and a big scoop of that mac salad. It was the same fried chicke in bite size pieces and teriyake sauce to pour over top. Sweet Mother of Mercy everything was ono to the MAX. I highly recommend this Minit Stop for a meal.

They have no problem ignoring you and even giggle about it and talk trash about you while talking trash about their co-workers. If you ask them for help they tend to get fussy. I've seen this happen many times at THIS LOCATION and it's happened to me too. This was at night too and I've noticed that this location, particularly at night, has very rude employees. At the ending of the day it is a gas station and I'm there to get what I need and be on my way. Their food is great, I must say. The fried chicken and potato wedges--or even bentos is a MUST when stopping there. ***I was just there last night, 7/14/26 and there were 2 employees on the floor talking smack about one of their co-workers. I grabbed what I needed and waited at the register. The employee was standing about 6 feet away from me making drum noises on a pile of boxes and I asked her if anyone was at the register. She said "Yeah, SHE IS" and pointed to the other employee pulling trash from the hot food area. There was also another customer standing behind me waiting to check-out. The drumming of boxes continued too from the other employee.*** If you don't need to go there, go to the next gas station. They are my "emergency only" gas station and when on empty I'll put in $10 (when I actually need $85-$100) and fill up at the next gas station that deserves the business. 5 stars for food and 1 for customer service.

Ok so the store looks a little beat and a bit sketchy from the outside, but inside they offer some of the best tasting sushi rolls around. We picked up some rolls for the car ride to Hilo, and we killed them all in just a couple minutes. They have pretty good variety of sushi, ranging from spam musubi to "bento" rolls. My favorite was the Korean chicken bento roll... which had flavorful chicken, spam, kamoboko (fish cake), and furikake (Japanese rice seasoning)... just like a bento all wrapped into a sushi roll. How genius is that?! Why don't all sushi bars make sushi like this?? The teriyaki beef roll is also really good. And the best part is you can grab one of these delicious rolls for under $5.00! A roll like that at any Japanese restaurant would cost you over $10 for sure. Besides the amazing sushi, you can grab other random items from the store. There's not a whole lot you can get, but there are random things to buy ranging from drinks and Hawaiian specialty food items, to cleaning supplies, and even hoy hoy roach traps. Definitely stop by if you're passing through town!

We were only $20 short of reaching the $300 spending requirement for the free gifts, which should speak to how frequently we visited and how much money we spent at this store. Despite being repeat customers, every visit was met with the same poor customer service. All of the cashiers who helped us were rude, curt, and could not even acknowledge the smallest greetings. The customer service was so unpleasant that it was not worth the experience. The food is not amazing, the prices are not great, and the only thing this place has is convenience--nothing more to offer. In one instance, I got a burger and a black milk tea with boba. I specifically told the cashier that I wanted boba, but she did not ring it up. When I inquired about the missing boba, a young employee addressed the matter with the cashier. They talked, and I said that if it cost more, I could pay for it. She rang up the boba with zero acknowledgment of her mistake. Nothing came out of her mouth. Complete silence. In another instance, I asked a cashier what the gifts were if we reached $300 in purchases. She did not say a word. She simply reached for a card with images of the gifts and placed it on the opposite side of where I was standing. She said nothing. I asked if those were the gifts, and she said yes. She then pulled out her phone while I looked at the card, and I simply said, "Okay, thank you." These are just a few examples of the many disturbing encounters we had with all of the cashiers. While on vacation in a tourist area, this is not the type of conduct or customer service one expects to experience. It was disturbing, and we dreaded going there despite the convenience.
