My Asian partner was racially profiled by whomever took them in back in February, just as the news of COVID-19 was breaking. They were ordered to wear a mask by a white woman in a white coat, despite not coughing themselves. Who was coughing and sneezing profusely right next to them? A white boy. Yet no demand to don a mask was made on the white kid. He was allowed to cough, sneeze, and spray his germs everywhere as he pleased. The white doctor, however, found my partner wearing the mask absurd, and said they could remove it. I went to urgent care this morning at 7 am and they were open right away. I acquired great service and patience from all the doctors and people there. I wasn't waiting for too long and got the service I needed to the road to recovery. I definitely would go back again if another problem arises! read more

Avoid this place if possible. We took our daughter with a high fever. In the span of about one hour, four nurse practitioners came into the room and ran various test only to repeat saying "negative". They were basically rolling dice and ran all test without clue. Each time, they came into the room, they were asking the same set of questions. We really had to fight to see a doctor at the end. I don't consider any of these people as medical professionals. WORST EVER. I guess this is the price we have to pay for living in a small town. read more

Convenient care is not a local business. In short, I saw a doctor, she was great, she offered to write a note for a concusion. After the concusion a day later 11/22 I called back to accept her offer as my employer wanted a note specific saying "do not recommend conducting his field work/job/etc" as the report had a generic pre canned message of sports, activities etc. All no bid deal, just accepting her offer. Instead, 3 calls, and a visit later to pick up the note I get deer in headlights and from 2 ladies at different levels stating "the doctor had nothing on file indicating she would write a note, there is nothing we can do". So they wouldn't allow me nor themselves to communicate with the nice lady who saw me, leave a message, write a message, nothing. To simply have her say that my concusion I had we do not recommend he work.....The lady instead insisted with a very sarcastic tone to come in again on a new appointment (so they can bill) to see a doctor again for this special request. Unbelievable. Save your money and save them from billing your insurance outrageous amount. 750-1500.00 billing out for a minor concusion and you can't even get them to act like a normal business to communicate. Local business my ass, lol. These guys should be held accountable like everyone else, unbelievable. FIling a complaint with workmans comp and notifying BBB, don't let them get away with this and do to others. Take the time to let others know and do what you can to find good accessible care local, real services that function by common sense. read more

You can check in ahead of time online to reduce your wait time, and the receptionists were cheerful and personable. I've had wait times of five minutes to an hour. To be fair though, the more urgent one was faster, so if they triage patients like this, it helps take care of the true urgent situations faster and gets them out of pain and exposing the public faster. The doctor i had this week was the most sympathetic and efficient doctor I've ever had and i wish he could be my primary. They have good help. But expect a few rounds of people coming in and out having you sign things and a bill that doesn't show up for months afterwards. read more

I came to "convenient care" for an MRI appointment only to find the doors locked to the imaging building 5:00 (maybe it was 5:01, but my watch said 5). Not knowing what to do I hobble around in my CAM fracture boot looking for an open door. By the time I walked nearly a quarter mile around the building to the Urgent care center, the MRI technician had left. At this point it was about 5:10. The lady at the emergency care desk said something like, "there you are, the technician was looking for you." I said "really, did she check outside the building because I got locked out." She then said something like "the doors close at 5". I responded with "If the doors close at 5 why do you have 5 o clock appointments?" To this she had no answer. So I missed my MRI, and had to reschedule the next morning. When I called the next morning they said the only appointment available was a week later again at 5. Oh god I have to wait a week and here we go again with the 5 o clock appointment (at least now I know to show up early). Then the Friday before the appointment I get a call in the late afternoon, which goes to voice mail, because you know some people have jobs. They leave a message saying they can no longer do the appointment, and that I have to reschedule. I call back, but get no answer because they are closed until Monday. On Tuesday, prior to 5, the time before my original appointment, I call only to find out that they had rescheduled me without my knowledge for earlier that day. What? How do you reschedule someone without letting them know you rescheduled them. So I missed my MRI again! With the way they schedule and reschedule appointments without telling you, and lock the doors to their building while they still have appointments going on, I really think they should be called "inconvenient care". read more

The +1 star is for the receptionists in urgent care who were sweet old ladies, albeit incredibly slow: apparently both of them need to work together for 20 mins to fill in a medical sheet (which is arguably the most essential and commonplace part of their job-- thank goodness I went when the place wasn't busy and could handle their adorable banter). I went in for an issue that was causing huge amounts of physical discomfort on a Sunday (basically Gannett was closed). The attending RNs were incredibly insensitive to the pain I was in when they did their check. I'm also glad I thoroughly researched my symptoms before heading in, because only after they manhandled me and I said "I think it might be this condition" did they go "Oh yeah! Well we'll treat you for that." UPDATE: They also prescribed medicine that my attending at Gannett later said had nothing to do with my condition, and also managed to neglect telling me about a regimen that is essential for me to improve. Let me tell you, that does not inspire confidence. I'd be ashamed to say I work at Convenient Care, especially in light of all the competent and caring medical specialists who work in Ithaca, especially at Gannett. If it's a choice between getting sepsis waiting for Gannett to reopen on Monday and going to convenient care, I say enjoy the sepsis. read more

I waited an hour to see a doctor and it seemed like there was an indefinite more wait time. When I inquired, I was told an hour wait time is pretty standard and could not be told when I would see a doc, so I left. That's not really what I consider convenient care. Also I showed up at 9:30am and was told the doctor would be in at 10am even though their stated hours are much earlier than when I showed up. I went to "five star urgent care" and was seen, literally, immediately. Wish I had not wasted so much time with them. read more

I've had three appointments with Convenient Care, two with imaging and one with the lab. I was treated politely and professionally by all the receptionist and technicians I met. The center is clean and well maintained. I had a positive experience and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Convenient Care to any of my friends. read more

I spent almost 4 hours waiting for nothing. There were very few people ahead of me so they may have been understaffed. The physician barely looked at me before saying there wasn't anything they could do. The employees are kind but not helpful. I wouldn't recommend going here unless you are confident they can help you, which is probably unlikely. I got Tylenol I wasn't allowed to take home that was weaker than what they sell at 7/11. Again, the people were very nice but that doesn't change that they didn't do anything. Definitely a waste of time and probably money. They would not disclose how much they would charge me throughout my time there which made me uneasy with this facility as well. They were not considerate of how I specifically said I felt and recommended I do practically the same thing I had been doing which obviously wasn't working. If you would like to be professionally recommended to take Advil after feeling extremely ill and waiting 4 hours then this is the place for you. Unfortunately Ithaca does not have many options. However it doesn't seem this place prioritizes your health but rather lethargically seeing patients, charging an undisclosed fee, and recommending otc pills that you likely have been taking. read more

I can't post zero stars? I would if I could. the short version: Convenient Care is outrageously priced for the service you are given. If you are REALLY sick or injured, go to the emergency room. If not, wait until any other doctor can see you and you'll pay a small fraction of the price. Even if you miss one or two days of work and don't have sick pay, you may still come out ahead by NOT going to convenient care. the long version: I was visiting Ithaca for a while and I got sick with bronchitis. I tried to beat it on my own, but when it persisted I called around to find a local doctor who could see me. When none of the doctors I found could fit in any new patients anytime soon, I found this place online called "Convenient Care" that looked like a clinic I could just show up to. I wish I had known better. Calling this place "Convenient Care" is like calling a loan shark "convenient cash;" they would see me when no one else could, and they thoroughly exploited that fact, with the shakedown for further payment lasting for months. Now let me say that I do have insurance in Texas where I live. It covers very little, but does get me a negotiated rate--down there I've never been charged more than $100 for a basic visit. When I showed up to this place, I was weary of what it would cost, but being sick and alone, my judgement was not at it's best, plus I figured the negotiated rate couldn't be too bad. I signed in, gave over my insurance info...the usual stuff. I asked if there was any way to gauge what my visit would cost (even just a minimum would be nice) but was told repeatedly that there was no way to know. Well, of course there's a way to know. I should have walked away right then. I would have lived, right? But, I was too beat down by the bronchitis to pester them further or to walk away. After waiting about 20 minutes, a nurse called me in to take my blood pressure, ask me my symptoms. She mentioned doing a strep test, but when I asked what that would add to the cost, she couldn't tell me, so I told her I'd pass on it. She sent me back out after, at most, 5 minutes with me. After I'd been there about 2 hours (how convenient!) I was called back to a room where I waited a while longer. Now, I know this kind of wait is typical for a place that does walk-ins, but I mention it to highlight how little you get for the price at Convenient Care. A doctor finally shows up. He talks to me for about 5 minutes (about 2.5 minutes about how I'm feeling, and about 2.5 minutes about his son's band after he finds out that I play music) and gives me some antibiotics. Pretty standard. Anyway, I leave feeling ok about it (I bet loan sharks make you feel good too when you first leave with the cash). THE BILL: When I looked at my insurance provider's online page, it shows that Convenient Care has tried to bill for $640! I spoke with people for 10 minutes total, waited two hours, received no tests beyond the basic vitals, and that's what they charge me. I called my insurance company, and they told me that the negotiated rate should be $245 or so, which is still outrageous. Apparently Convenient Care tried to collect $640, as though Blue Cross wouldn't hold them to their negotiated rate. Blue Cross told me that being an out of state patient had nothing to do with the price, and that it having been a Sunday that I was seen only added $10 to the bill. The rest is just standard I guess. Well, Blue Cross agreed with me that it was absurd, but said that was the negotiated rate for the place, so I reluctantly paid it. Well, here I am 4 months later and they just sent another bill for $98 more! No idea what it's for. Grand total to $340. Is this the end of it? The facility was clean. The people working there were as expected--nice enough, professional (except that no one knows what anything costs. I guess I now have a leg up on them in that department). THE COST IS OUTRAGEOUS, IF NOT EXPLOITATIVE. read more

It's an emergency medical center and you may have to wait but not as long as en ER. It's a first come/first served with a mix of triage system. If someone is critical and you have a bruised toe, you will wait longer. If you go in and there are 20 people ahead of you, you will have a long wait. It's not rocket science! Medical care doesn't require instant gratification to be high quality. I've never waited more than one hour. You can also call ahead and get a sense of the wait time. Would give zero stars if possible. Bills like an emergency room for basic treatment. Was bill by emergency physicians group and by the urgent care group itself for being seen by a PA. Completely unacceptable. Would rather wait to be seen at Cornell for any medical care or probably risk getting worse than to have to put up with the long waits (even if you check in online which apparently they don't check). read more

I was experiencing foot pain which made it very difficult for me to walk. I decided to go to Urgent Care because I knew I would be seen that day. I would have had to wait several days to see my doctor. I registered online and received a phone call telling me when to come in. I was taken to a room as soon as I arrived. The nurse practitioner came right in and ordered an xray. I only waited about 5 minutes before the xray tech came to pick me up. She offered a wheelchair but I declined it. The longest wait was waiting for the xray results. Once the NP knew what was going on with my foot, she was back in the room explaining things to me. The nurse was in right after her with an appliance to relieve the pain in my foot and my discharge papers. I was offered a note to stay out of work but I refused that too. An hour and a half investment of my time and I will be able to work pain free. Thanks. read more
