I ordered a Reuben and a Converse Deli Chef salad. We'll start with the Reuben. Their Yelp page says they use Boar's Head meats. I have my doubts. When I took my first couple of bites of the sandwich, I thought it tasted odd. It took me a few minutes to figure out why. I could taste the bread, which was toasted/grilled perfectly. I could taste the dressing. I could taste the kraut, which was tasty. There was a total absence of corned beef flavor. Oh, they had a conservative, dense pile of what looked like corned beef. But it wasn't present in flavor. AT ALL. And the corned beef was cold, and weirdly waxy, where the rest of the sandwich was relatively hot. I have NEVER had flavorless Boar's Head meat. I've had a lot of opportunity to eat their brand, and have made my own Reubens with it (as well as delicious French dips with their Londonport roast beef). This was a completely unappetizing and extremely disappointing sandwich, especially when you consider that I paid almost $14.00 for it. It looked, and tasted, like a cheap pile of corned beef you could get at a Walmart or a similar place. And now to the chef salad. For $14.00, I got random lettuce, soggy croutons. TWO slices of tomato, three slices of cucumber, a sad pile of sprouts, some random slices of too-salty ham, and flavorless cheese (and not a ton of either). You folks can't do more than two lousy slices of tomato and three lousy slices of cucumber for what you charge? Seriously? Will I order from them again? NO. I'm not interested in paying top dollar for what's basically lousy, lazy food. read more

I got "The Cowboy": warm roast beef, cheddar, bacon, caramelized onions, horseradish mayo on toasted rye served with a pickle spear and potato chips. The service was fast and friendly, the price was right and the food was good. They were packed at lunch time, and apparently, keep a pretty full dining room during regular hours. The dining room could do with an upgrade to the chairs and the decor wasn't much to speak of, but it won't keep me from coming back to try their other delicious looking sandwiches! We stayed away from this place for a long time thinking that it was just sandwiches. Boy, were we wrong. We came back to find that they can make any offered sandwich or wrap into a salad. Brilliant! So now, instead of just choosing from two or three, at most, salads (the usual house, spinach or chef salad), the entire menu became our lunch options. The portions are huge and offer great value for your money. Some restaurants that make sandwiches into salads give you less food in the salad than what you get with the sandwich. Not Converse Deli. And the food was very fresh and delicious. The warm bacon vinaigrette dressing is especially good. They even have vegetarian options. Well done. They have a nice area out front to dine outdoors. Great food! Wonderful friendly service! The food is freshly made to order perfection. I had the big cheese. This burger comes with Bacon, Pimento cheese, Tomalettuce, grilled onions.... yummmmmy! I feel like I am eating at a Ryan's buffet and I can't imagine it being very sanitary or easy to clean. It is just strange to me... I usually get their wraps. I've been here before and it was very good. We sat down and ate there for a nice lunch. This time I ordered take-out and regret the decision. The food did not stand the test of the 15 minutes in styrofoam to my destination. The bread was not panini bread, but just regular white bread, toasted. It's a spinach wrap with salsito turkey, avocado, jalapeño pimento cheese and broccoli slaw. Such a great combo. This wrap can also be made into a sandwich. I was a huge fan of their food and customer service. I recently went for lunch. I was as the end of my meal when I spotted a hair in my sandwich. I FREAKED OUT. At first, second guessed it thinking is it mine? But my hair isn't a brown/reddish color--so wasn't mine. When I told the waitress, she wasn't too pleased when I reported my findings. I was told they'll ask the kitchen and see what they want to do about it. So when I went to pay, I received a complimentary drink but I paid for my sandwich. Yes, you read that right. I paid for my sandwich but I wasn't charged for my drink. Needless to say I was upset about this experience. But they have lost not one but two loyal customers. I was disappointed in the way it was handled considering they've been given our business quit frequently. So I shall not return. read more

I had the Grown Up Grilled Cheese with a cup of Tomato Basil soup - the soup was a little sweet for my taste, but I get it if they added sugar to cut the acidity, it was really smooth and fresh. Our hiking group of 14 ladies from Columbia descended upon the Deli today after our hike of the Cottonwood Trail. We had called a day ahead to request seating to accommodate our large group. The manager was friendly and assured us they could handle our group. When we showed up they were prepared and welcoming despite it being right in the middle of their busiest lunch window. Small, cozy, busy and worth the wait. We got there about 1230p. Bad idea. Wait until 1 or so. You will have a few tables to sit at. Many customers seemed to know each other......very well. We were new so it took a few minutes for us to order. Crowded atmosphere made me feel like I had to hurry, not sure why. I had the Hawaiian and my wife had the Club. Very ample portions. Tea was great. Service was very fast considering the standing room only crowd. This is our go to deli from now on. To me it's one of those hidden gems you might see on the Food Network. We just have to figure out the premium time for us to go without having to wait. If you are near this part of town, stop in for a sandwich, you will not be disappointed.
