Great messy burgers! Better than Five guys. Wish there was one in San Jose,CA as this would be a hit!

Hey I had a great time at cookout tonight great food. Fried food is hard to mess up thought. Got the window closed on me when I was talking midsentence to the cashier though she's kind of cute though so not that upset.

Coke float....ice-cream tasted like flavorless ice

The best handmade , not frozen , burgers in North Carolina. I was visiting my sister and niece in…read moreLaurinburg for a week in March and wanted a good local burger. I read the great reviews of this place online , so I had to come see for myself. It's a small brick building on the side of Andrew Jackson Hwy in Laurel Hill. Small parking lot with plenty of business. They have a small indoor dining area that is a bar top facing the windows. A couple of picnic tables outside , which is where I ate mine. I got the Double Cheeseburger with Crinkle Cut Fries and a can of Pepsi. The burger patties were nice and thick and juicy. Hot and fresh tasting with lettuce and tomato. If you want a Traditional North Carolina Slaw Burger they can do that too. The Crinkle Cut Fries were hot , fresh , and tasty. I prefer Crinkle Cut or Steak Cut Fries , so this was a plus. The employees were also nice. They have so much other food to choose from. Bbq Pork Sandwiches , Burgers , Hot Dogs , Sausage Dogs , Corn Dogs , Fried Bologna Sandwich , Pimento Cheese Sandwich , Chicken Wings , Hamburger Steak Plate , Chicken Salad , Chicken Sandwich , Fried Okra , Fries , Onion Rings , Baked Beans , Green Beans , Slaw , and Mashed Potatoes , and more. So don't pass by this place on the way to the beach or elsewhere. Make sure to stop and get you some good ole Carolina Food made with Love.

For $16 you can get hush puppies, two sides and BBQ entree. These are some of the best hush puppies I have EVER had. It's a lot of food too. The BBQ is souther style and they offer sweet of ginger sauce in the side. It also comes with a drink.

I visited Stubbs at roughly the end of a 13 hour road trip (ok, there was one overnight 9 hours…read moreinto that) from MA to NC. There was no way that I was going to have driven all the way to North Carolina without eating authentic eastern North Carolina barbecue. Stubbs totally fit the bill. It's in an entirely unassuming building that looks like it at one time might have been a house, but has clearly been home to the restaurant for many years. But whatever. You're not at Stubbs for the atmosphere (not that there's anything wrong with the ambiance...it's eastern Carolina roadside barbecue.). You're here for the food and in that sense, Stubbs does not disappoint. The pork was fresh, moist, and well-seasoned. Perfect. The sides were abundant and well prepared (slaw, greens, stewed beans, etc.). And the hushpuppies were sweet and crisp and not at all greasy. Plus, the staff - particularly the guy taking orders - were kind and accommodating (taking time to answer questions and explain things to my traveling companion who was not particularly schooled in the subtleties of regional barbecue varieties...which is a critical skill if one is going to navigate North Carolina's unique and sometimes contentious barbecue environment). Everyone here was having a good time and yet were taking care of the business of making and selling some of the best barbecue I've had regardless of style or location. If I lived around Carthage, I'd be going here for takeout pretty much weekly. While on a road trip, it's a must-stop location.
