NO LOCATION HAS THAT ANYMORE" and I said "oh okay it was on the menu" and she said "OKAY MAAM AND IM JUST TELLING YOU" like the condescending attitude is really strong there. I'm evaluating this restaurant in comparison with her fast food restaurants. And in comparison it is excellent. The barbecue pork sandwich cost $2.99. I bought a combination and got hushpuppies, a ranch chicken wrap, a barbecue sandwich and a milkshake for six bucks. Granted the pork sandwich was not piled full of barbecue but it was adequate especially for $2.99. Everything taste good and the shake was exceptional. The bill for two of us to have a great lunch was $11.86. This place was clean, the service was friendly and fast and the bathrooms were great. Cook Out offers an exceptional value. read more

My first stop on the road to NC was to one of my favorites of all time. I first had Cookout in Raleigh back in 2004 and now since they have expanded beyond just a drive up the quality is still there. Real charbroiled burgers and a huge selection of real fruit shakes so thick you cant drink it with a straw. I came across the 1st location last fall downtown on Walton Way and fell for the burgers and onion rings but this new on Jimmy Dyess Pkwy has inside seating and is at a prime location right near I-20. Service is fast and pleasant with a self serve soda station plenty of seats as well as booths for large crowds.It also has the drive thru with a simple menu but once you try this place you will be a master at putting together your meals and the kids menu is a real snap with hot dogs starting at .99 cents. Went to drive thru today 12-17-18. Placed two tray orders, had to repeat first order twiced. Pulled up paid and the girl handed me two huge ice tea's and one food box. Just OK - the CookOut in Atlanta always has lines around the building, so I was keen to see what the fuss was about in the substantially less crowded Augusta location. I can't see what the fuss is all about. Burger was OK - a step up for MCDonalds or BK, but not on a par with somewhere like five guys. meat was fairly bland and the toppings were slapped on with little care. I got pretty much an entire onion on my burger. Chilli cheese fries were a disappointment - the fries were ok, but the chilli and cheese were not. Chilli was just meh and the cheez-wiz type substance on top was plastic tasting and gloopy. The shake WAS good - Heath Toffee - the ice cream was not too sweet and it was just what I needed to take away the taste of the Cheez-wiz. (+1 star) BUT the oppressive Christian Rock Music (YES! The food here was pretty good and the staff was friendly and helpful so I would give this review three to three and a half to stars based on that. So why one star you say? One, they do nothing to keep drive-through customers to the left when entering the restaurant parking lot, and people these days "the world revoles around me!" don't think about people behind them, so they sit in the middle of the parking lot and you can't go around them. Traffic was backed up into the main road. So it took me about five minutes for the drive-through customers to move forward so I could go around them to get a parking spot. Ordering food was a breeze and was quick. My order was equally as quick when they called my number along with somebody else's number. The other order stepped in front of me, which wouldn't be a problem, until they asked for all kinds of other stuff like cup holders, mustard, etc. The problem is the pick up area is only one person wide since the rest of the counter is employees and registers. I tried to get around them but this was another "the world revolves around me" person, hogged up the pick up area for at least two minutes and all I wanted to do was pick up my food and eat it. I like the food, but it isn't worth wasting your time waiting for parking spot and waiting for your food while somebody hogs up the pick up area. This may make it sound like it was the customers fault for hogging up the parking lot while trying to get though the drive-through and hogging up the pickup area as well, but it doesn't take a rocket surgeon to figure out this is a problem and fix it. read more

Fries are awful, burger was great and the shakes are delicious. If you like to be able to drink your shakes, this place may not be for you. Definitely needed the spoon for all of the fruit chunks that don't fit through a straw. The fries would have been better if their fryer grease were fresh. Dark orange is not the correct color for a french fry. I was happy with the burger. Nice flavor, tasty bacon. I'm not sure what has happened to this place within the last few months, but the food quality has drastically decreased. I periodically make stops after work and the meals always tastes hot off the grill. However, lately the food tastes as if it has been sitting for hours. The burgers are bland and the quesadillas are hard. Surprisingly enough, I made a stop during lunch and the food tasted as fresh as it had previously did in the evenings. Then I clicked the button incessantly for a minute and then THAT SAME PERSON CAME AND RANG ME UP FINALLY. Where is the work ethic or respect? I mean I get you're busy, but at least acknowledge me and say "hold on" or "the drive thru will be faster till I'm done with this" something! Pathetic. Ordered a cookout tray with a burger (w/ mayo, cajun seasoning, & cheese), side of white cheddar bites, & a chicken quesadilla with a Dr Pepper to drink. I had another order of essentially the same thing. Neither burgers had the requested condiments and there was little to no chicken in the quesadilla. I was definitely shorted on the cheddar bites. The prices are cheaper than Steak and Shake, the inside is nicely decorated. Staff is friendly and efficient. Food is obviously cooked well and has great flavor. First time eating at Cookout. Had 1/4 lb hamburger tray with fries and chicken nuggets and a large drink. My daughter ordered same but with a mocha shake. We sat down to eat and discovered the shake was not mixed- coffee on bottom and vanilla ice cream on top. When my husband told the cashier she apologized. The hamburger I had was put between two bottom buns making it extra thick, the meat was bland and lacking flavor. Fries were not salted and had a baked texture. The chicken nuggets were small and bland. The food comes out very quickly, however I'd rather wait a bit and get some flavor. The cashier was nice and although there was no refund on the shake, she did apologize. My son had a corndog and loved it. All in all, I would rather eat elsewhere. Decent fast food place with relatively decent prices. I've never been disappointed by anything anytime I or my family have eaten here. Their tray meals are supper cheap and they come with a lot of food, all things considered. I ordered a burger with fries and the young lady took it upon herself to make my order as she wanted and I did not ask for a plate. so she shorted me fries on my order.
