I went to this Cook-out on Feb 25, 2022. I emailed the company immediately of my issue on the evening of Feb 25. I wasn't in a position to go right back to Cook out yet I still wanted to document my incident. I go back to Cookout the following morning around 11:30 a.m. I asked for 2 dbl burger trays and tell them at the speaker that I need to pay for one tray and speak to the manager abt the other tray. The young man said I had to get out of my car and go to the walk up window to speak to a manager. That made no sense. I drive up and now I'm at the paying window and I'm asking the young man what is the managers name. He said I don't know the managers name not once but twice. Then I said how can you not know your managers name and he finally said J. Another man then stood next to this young man and I said are you the manager. The manager confirmed he was and I asked for his name which he said Julio. I explained my situation on why I was asking for a replacement and I even showed him this ridiculous burger. He immediately said that I ordered a single burger and I corrected him saying no I ordered a dbl burger. He then said he couldn't replace it unless I had a ticket even tho I had the burger in hand. Reluctantly, I went home and got the ticket from the trash. At this point, I requested a full refund for the one meal. He looks at the receipt and sees that I was correct abt what I truly ordered. He then said he needed the food so I handed him the burger. He closed the window and had $4 dollars in his hand once he opened the window back. I tell him that I paid close to $8 and ask for the rest. He said no bc I didn't bring the fries with the money still in his hand. I said ok I will take the $4 and just get the rest from corporate. He said oh well get it all from corporate then proceeded to stick his middle finger up at me. I was a second two late on recording however I snapped a pic of him as his middle finger was going up. I immediately begin recording him and he begins to blurt out lie after lie. He takes it a step further, looked directly at me saying that he's going to call the police and tell them that he feels threatened for his life, I might kill his family and he's afraid of me etc. Does this sound familiar? I am an African American female so in Julio's mind the police will be on his side once he calls and says he's in fear of a black person. In his mind, I will be mistreated or even possibly killed by the police if he claims to be in fear for his life. This translate to the police to come armed and ready for me bc I'm dangerous. What he failed to realize is he is Spanish decent. He's a minority just as I am so I didn't react to his ignorance. I said on my video that I didn't threatened him or his family and to call the cops. He pretended to call the police so I called. Once he realized I was on the phone with the police, he eventually gave me the $4. I immediately called Cook-out customer service back bc the first time I got a voice-mail. I was able to connect to a live representative who said she'll mail me a check/refund my purchase. I agreed to that and she passed my information on to the district manager. The district manager called and I told him the same story. His response was I'm going to talk to the guy. He said if Julio stuck his middle finger up at me that's grounds for termination. He didn't have any follow up questions for me. He didn't say anything abt checking cameras or which window this took place at or ask me for a time frame of this incident which made me suspicious to if he would truly check cameras. I inquired about cameras being at the drive thru and he said yes there are cameras. He then said they'll check the cameras however the tone of how he said it just wasn't convincing to me. He ended our discussion with saying,"Yes again, I'll talk to the guy and I apologize for his behavior." Well "the guy" aka Julio needs to be exposed and removed from this company. If I was a different type of individual, the encounter could have ended very differently. Julio needs to terminated before he gets hurt or hurt someone. His disgusting behavior shouldn't be tolerated esp while dealing with the public. For him to then pull the I fear for my life police card on me is as racist as they come. Mental illness nowadays is being discussed more however Julio has no idea who he can trigger by treating ppl like pure trash. I'm sharing my story so you can be aware especially if you are a person of color/african American. Julio has my receipt information as he didnt give my original receipt back. He can look up my personal information bc I used my debit card. By the way he acted, I'm sure I've angered him even more by complaining to corporate. Therefore I want my experience as public as possible and to also shine a light on this ignorance with the hopes of stopping him from doing this to someone else. But as soon as I got to the window she said "let me take your order" and I said I'd like a cookout tray and then I had no response for another 10 minutes. No "I'll be right back", nothing. And I could hear the workers conversations through the mic. I waited in my line while 9 cars passed me in the other order line. And I had so many people behind me, I kept saying "hello" into the mic and no one would answer. So I drive up to the window and no one opened it and there was no one running the cash register.
