This place is a hit or miss but customer service is always a miss for me. I ordered a large tea no ice with my meal, get to the window and girl handed me tea with ice. And immediately closed the window so she could sit there texting on her phone while waiting for my food order to come up. So another worker saw my hand still out the window holding the tea and asked what's wrong, told her I said no ice. She corrected it, meanwhile original girl still sitting there on her cell phone. Ridiculous. And the sandwich I got was just ok, not much flavor on the meat at all, almost like it wasn't seasoned. It'll be awhile before I go back, if ever. read more

The food was so good and well seasoned. There was enough sauce on my Buffalo Chicken Pita that I didn't need to ask for more, which is a bonus since I'm a sauce queen . Which the fries were fried harder since it was a take out order. By the time I got home they were soggy in my container, but still edible. The service was quick were I wasn't waiting long for my food. Had my food through the drive thru so not sure what the inside looks like. Shut it down!!! This was once one of my favorite spots to go too but now it's not worth a penny. Got there and ordered the fish Sandwich meal with fries. Well what I got was one piece of fish on a large bun (usually comes with two pieces) with lettuce and tomato with frost bitten fries for $10. Shame on all of you that work there knowing you ripping people off. I will NEVER return to another CK spot again. And then they had the nerve to charge $.50 for sauce that went down in quality smh. What a disappointing meal this was. Have you ever set your tastebuds up for failure? That's exactly what I did. The fries were not freshly cooked and the chicken was still hairy ( imagine my face saying yuck ). I have honestly been there before and I had freshly cooked fried and bald chicken, lol. They have a lot of items on the menu but I can't say that I would want anything after this encounter. This review is solely for the one I have tried and I know there's another one so I would try that one before giving up completely on Chicken King. This place use to be a decent place to order from but over the last three years they have gone down considerably. First the price didn't just go up a little, it jumped up by $4-$5 dollars. I get food has gone up but Jesus. The the quality of the food doesn't even match what you are charging. Fries have been burnt, fish has been small but they aren't giving any extra, hamburgers have been dry (how do you dry out a hamburger) and so on. Prime example, I stop to get a Perch box on my way to work and my fries look as if they refried some fries and the fish looked like half the size they use to be. I didn't realize this till I had pulled of and was on Independence when I opened the box to get a frye and every frye was burnt to a crisp. Some may like that but I do not. So I called the restaurant and asked to speak to a manager. The put me on hold and someone else came to the phone and said that the manager was off today. I then asked to speak to a supervisor or whomever was over the kitchen. I couldn't believe this part,. The responded, there isn't anyone here. Call back in 15 minutes. I said I couldn't and the put me on hold again. Some lady came to the phone and asked if she could help me. I explained the situation and she asked if I could bring it back. I told her I couldn't I was headed to work and she replied well can you come before we close or tomorrow. I said, ma'am I get off at three in the morning. I brought this to eat for my dinner and you're asking me not to eat anything so that I can bring it back tomorrow. She asked me to hold and I did. When she came back she said she called her manager and they said that in order for me to get a refund or a replacement dinner I had to return the other one. I replied, so you expect me to work till 3am without eating because I took my last and bought a dinner at you restaurant that burnt my food. She says, well that's what the manager said the policy is. The customer service was amazing and we were greeted by a friendly voice and they were extremely patient while my husband and I were deciding upon what to order. Probably my favorite place to grab take out. Kinda reminds me of a Showmars or South 21 type of place, with a very similar style of menu. Of course their chicken is great, but I've not really found anything on their menu I didn't enjoy. I've had the fried chicken, tenders, wings, burgers, chops, fish, shrimp, and more. It's all delicious. The fries are fine, but the rings are up there with anyone's for me. The grilled chicken is awesome as well, if you're wanting to cut back on the fried stuff. The staff is friendly too, even when you walk in five minutes before close. If you stop in regularly, they not only remember you, but what you like to order as well. My only suggestion is to skip the drive through and walk in. They prepare everything to order, so you'll be sitting at the window just as long as you will inside. Worst customer service I have experienced since moving to Charlotte. Ordered a cheeseburger with onion rings and, 25 minutes later, order was not ready. The 10 orders after I placed mine were completed. The young lady who stated she was the manager was condescending and rude and basically didn't care if I was happy or not. The shrimp was the only thing edible. The whiting was tasteless, and not crispy. The fries were crinkle cut fries that you could get at a local grocery store. I let the staff know and even wanted to speak to the Chef. I was thinking "How the hell could someone not season the whiting???" When the Chef came out, it was a Greek guy who barely spoke English. I have been to a few Chicken King locations and this one is certainly cleaner than the the ones that I have been in. I ordered the double cheeseburger and fries and the service was pretty quick. The food tasted good as well. This location has a nice area to sit down and eat, something most locations don't have. They have a drive-thru which doesn't make a whole lot of sense, given that it takes at least 5 minutes per customer to get their order. You might as well walk in.
