The marketing team at Cookout wants to make sure you know they support Christianity and patriotism / nationalism. This was my first "Cookout experience" in the Carolinas. Overall, OK. The root beer was fantastic. Onion rings were just OK. I was impressed a corn dog is an available side item. The double burger costs the same as a single patty, I probably shouldn't have asked for everything on my burger. They put regular onion slices on as well as grilled onions, next time, I will just be good with grilled. The girls love the Cajun fries. A cheese quesadilla is also an available side item which Rachel enjoyed. We did not get any shakes this trip and evidently that is one of the best things on the menu, so we may have to come back and try those. Of course they serve Cheerwine (a regional, soft drink) which both our daughters love. Overall good, but I would not rate this as a "superior hamburger experience." read more

I went through the drive-through as I've done many other times. Before I leave the parking lot, I always check in the bag to make sure my order has been done correctly. On this occasion, I was very glad that I did double check my order. Not only had they shorted me considerably, but when I went inside to speak with the manager, he was nothing short of snotty, arrogant and rude! While I was trying to explain to him why I was unhappy with my order, I witnessed one of his employees in the food prep area spit! Not only did it sicken me physically, but I was stunned, and I went through the entire restaurant, letting everyone know exactly what I had just witnessed. Not only was I unhappy with my order, but several other people were at the counter, complaining that their orders were screwed up as well! So it is now 1:22 a.m. I went to cookout and everything in my entire order is screwed up. I got a Cajun chicken sandwich which looks like it is partially raw and undercooked I've got a quesadilla which the cheese is burnt and nasty she charged me for an extra corn dog and gave me an extra corn dog when I only asked for a corn dog with my plate so that leaves me two corn dogs and I asked for a barbecue chargrilled chicken sandwich and she gives me a barbecue plate. What the heck is wrong with y'all get your stuff together. Then to top it all off my milkshake I asked for chocolate, peanut butter and banana shake not a Oreo peanut butter banana shake so my entire order is screwed up $22 later and I'm not going to eat any of it and no one will answer the phone y'all really have crappy service and y'all need to either get new employees or something or train them better read more

With the poor reviews - was leery of stopping here but I've never had it so... when in Rome. Stopped right at open as traveling back from SC and this was along the way. Looked like a newer built spot and was inviting to me but again the reviews were lackluster. We pulled up to the drive thru and stared at it for a moment- we ended up ordering a 3pc tender with their sauce and honey mustard, an order of hush puppies, and an order of cheese bites. That came to $7.56.......... The tenders were pretty standard, honestly reminded me of chicken tenders you would get at a Chinese Buffet and would come from a frozen section - nothing that really set it apart or separated it from anyone else. The sauce was really good though - not as much kick as Bojangles but still good. As for the hush puppies and cheese bites they were the real stars of this stop. Freshly made (again we came at open), golden brown and plentiful for $1! Really really really good. We are new to the area and hungry after a day of running errands. We stopped in for lunch and were pleasantly surprised. It was a nice change of pace from the standard burger joints. We have a friend who is managing a Cook Out and his life is hell. The franchise has very strict requirements as to how long is should take from order to fulfillment. The turnover of employees is a monster that keeps the manager working as well as seeing to their training. And the shakes offered create another monster adding more time to finish an order. This Rock Hill location really needs help. The manager is the proverbial one-armed paper-hanger while the kitchen is pushing out orders and dealing with an endless drive through window. It needs a thorough cleaning. Shut it down for a couple of house to hose it and scrub it, inside and outside. The kitchen floor was pooled with water, trash was all over the dining area along with slopped drinks and food. Windows are dirty. Even the side entry has a spilled shake on the glass door. No surprise, but our order got mixed up and we got what the people in front or behind us ordered. You can specify how you want your burgers, which are excellent, but whether you get what and how you want is an open question. Not that they are not trying as soon one of the order takers was sent out to sweep the floor and pick up debris. Upper management can do more than criticize the statistics and time violations. Otherwise, you will be replacing a manager as well as the employees. Pretty dismal. read more

I came through the drive thru with my dad on 10/29/22. When we got to the speaker we were greeted by a young lady. My dad started ordering his tray and said he wanted a big double cheeseburger with bacon, everything on it but onion. That's when the young lady cuts him off and asks him to repeat what he wanted on his burger (because she was too busy laughing and playing with coworkers so she didn't hear him the first time). He does just that, and starts to order his burger again by saying "big double cheeseburger with bacon..." before he can even finish she cuts him off and says "I know sir, I said to tell me what you wanted on it" in the rudest tone ever. I've never seen my dad so upset at a drive thru. He couldn't even order for me because he was so scared of getting screamed at by the employee. So I order my tray, only to hear a whole new voice over the speaker. I guess the lady was so aggravated with the job she signed up for, that she passed us to the next person. But this gentleman is just laughing the whole time. What's funny? Are you laughing at us? Or the fact that y'all work at cookout, where you're clearly unhappy with the job YOU SIGNED UP FOR. I was so aggravated with the whole situation. I'm posting this to spread awareness and hope for the "manager" if they aren't as bad as these people, to punish them accordingly. Visited my sister in Rock Hill recently and ate at Cook Out too many times... How can you deny a meal for $4.39 (entree, two sides and a drink) and for a dollar more get a big thick milkshake (40 flavors!). So many choices in the meal too! My favorite food items were the Double burger with cheese and tomato costing extra, the milkshakes, the chicken strips were good and crunchy and big! and last but so not least the BLT for 99 cents! Outstanding! Now for the reason I am taking off 2 stars: the service is fast but the most unfriendly people work there I have come across. I suppose this is how it is in these parts but being from CA I am not used to it. No greeting, no smile, no personality from any of the people that work there that helped me all the times I went. We love Cookouts, have eaten in lots so we were excited to see this open in our home town, the food is on par with other Cookouts but what a disappointment the shakes are, a normal Cookout shake will cave in your face trying to suck it thru a straw, the shakes here are very thin and wimpy. We went when they just opened and thought that maybe they didn't have their shake machine dialed in, we tried two weeks later and still no better, a few months later and it was so-so, again the other day, waited a long time and not much better, hence only 3 stars. read more

I know this is a fast food restaurant so I shouldn't expect much from young employees who most likely are paid minimum wage. But the employees are rude and dishonest. The Pumpkin Pie milkshake, is only offered for a max of 14 days, if at all. We checked every week in October and every week in November for a special treat. Some of the other reviews mentioned their shakes being substandard, I wouldn't know about that, as I only ordered fries and corn dogs, but I think that for the price, Cook Out is one of the best value fast food restaurants around. Where else can I feed myself and two kids for only $3.49??? I am a big fan of Cook Out fries so I always order some fries with Cajun seasoning and my kids love the "hot dog popsicles" so I get them the corn dogs. If you are looking for a fancy meal, this is not the place, but if you are looking for a reasonably priced fast-food hot dog and french fries, then you are in luck my friend! Price is cheap but they mess up your order about 40% of the time and don't really give a good experience at drive through. I've been confused for the next customer because I had to sit at drive through to get the BBQ sauce they forgot for the chicken nuggets. Unlike the Tryon location (where I had my first dip into the darkside, er, maiden voyage, of Cook Out), this location offers indoor seating with some nice wooden-paneled walls. This is awesome to have during cold nights. On weekends, it's packed with high schoolers and slacker kids like me, all wanting our hushpuppies. Now, the combo tray. The Cook Out combo tray (less than $5) is a glorious example for the true potential of side items. Bacon wraps are a side. A corn dog is a side. I'd say shy away from the BBQ and go for a Cook Out burger or a chicken sandwich. The cajun style is pretty spicy and packs a nice flavor, whereas the BBQ is a bit pulpy and mushy. I've long wanted to try a Super Size Me-style experiment and try every one of their 30+ milkshake flavors, but then I realize how much of a bad idea too much of a good thing is. If you're not totally grossed out by it, the milkshakes also make a nice dipping vessel for hushpuppies. Those cornbread nuggets and blueberry cream go together surprisingly well. For fast food on budget tighter than pants on Thanksgiving, this is the place to go. read more
