No Chicago dogs, which is a crime for hot dog place. The food is OK. The service is with a smile and friendly but a little bit slow and there's not a whole lot of ambience in a drive-through but sometimes you just need a hotdog so middle grade for middle quality. read more

Since this is a drive-thru only restaurant, there is not much of an ambience or a vibe. There are picnic tables in the back of the restaurant, but due to the weather, I opted to take my order home. I've eaten here before and the food was enjoyable, but it took me awhile to return. I received excellent customer service at this visit and have no complaints in that area. Out of the three hot dogs I tried, my absolute favorite was the Honey Hot Brat (Grilled onions and hot honey sauce, served on a toasted bun) because of the hot honey sauce and the runner-up is the Mexi Dog (Cheddar cheese sauce, lettuce, tomato, jalapeños, and homemade chili, served on a toasted bun) because of the immense flavor. The Smokeshow (Smoked sausage made with burnt ends covered in hickory BBQ sauce, served on a toasted bun) was decent, but it did not give me an a ha moment like the others. The Fish Sandwich (Fried cod filet with American cheese, mayo, and homemade slaw, served on a toasted bun) became a knockout when paired with the slaw while the corn puppies stole my heart at first bite. This is the place for dogs! They also have fantastic hamburgers & many side options as well as milkshakes. Today I had the double cheeseburger which was just out of this world good! It was served hot & had very fresh & flavorful ingredients. It was cooked perfectly & was more than a meal. I also added two Relish Dogs, relish & mustard only. They were good but were not hot. They have signed a lease on a location near downtown Fort Mill in the space that was formerly the Subway. It will have a drive-thru window and projected open in mid to late August. read more

Tonight was the second time we had been here. The first time wasn't fantastic but we wanted to like it so we waited a bit and tried again. The fries we got were undercooked and incredibly greasy. They still had that raw taste to them, so clearly they were rushing to get them out. I ordered a chicken sandwich and halfway through it had an odd texture and appeared to be undercooked as well, which is not good. Loved this place. It is my kinda joint!! Easy drive thru experience with very friendly staff. They do take credit cards. I got the Chili Dog. And also a Kraut Dog. I loved them both but I was very surprised by the fact that I preferred the kraut dog. The sauerkraut mixed with their mustard was just spectacular. I am a recent transplant from Indianapolis. I grew up outside of Chicago. I really miss a good dog! I am a chef. Life threw us some curve balls and I cannot currently work. I am stoked to check out the food scene around Charolette, but things are really tight. I had been craving a good dog. I had enough cash to make that happen. I pulled up greeted by a friendly face. I ordered two dogs and a hot honey sausage. My intentions were to get a Palmetto dog, but somehow ordered a chili dog. I love a good chili dog, so I was ok with that. I'll just have to go back. First smile. "Pork or beef?" I've never been to a regular dog joint where you had that choice. On my list for years was a "slaw dog". The Depot Dog fit that bill. They were accommodating and put the slaw on the side. Chili dog for later and the hot honey for my girl. Excellent service! Friendly counter lady. Dogs were excellent! Price was good. Surprise, it's wiener Wednesday and 20% off dogs. Rarely is a place five stars, but this was close. The only thing I was missing is that snap when you bite into that dog. With this being on the Yelp Charlotte Top 100 and me loving loaded hot dogs, I'm not sure how it took me so long to try this place. It's drive through only. They have some picnic tables outside. The hours are day time only. I could order and pay over the phone which made me happy given the current situation. My husband and I tried the Reuben Dog, Coney Dog, Depot Dog, Chicago Dog, fries, and a peanut butter banana milkshake. The hot dogs were all fantastic. I think the Reuben dog might have been my favorite followed by the Chicago Dog, but it's really hard to pick. The fries were great, but the hot dogs were so good I would probably skip the fries and get another dog next time. The milkshake was delicious. I definitely recommend getting one. When in Rock Hill you have to stop at the Hot Dog Depot especially if you are checking off restaurants from the Yelp Top 100 from 2018. You will drive right past the Hot Dog Depot if you don't keep your eyes open. The depot is a small stand along restaurant that you have to use the drive thru to be serve. I ain't going to lie I had to back up and get in the line. Also if you do this you will miss your true space in line and have to wait a lot longer. As we were eating parked beside the building the line definitely grew to about 10 plus cars deep. This place is truth if you wait for that many cars to go thru the drive thru! You place your order, drive up to one window pay then drive around the building and pick up your order. I did reviewed the menu while in line but they have updated the order numbers and the prices are different than listed on Yelp. We (my family and I) ordered an array of things from the menu. I got the Southern Hot Dog and the Polish. I got them the way they come. I also got a Pina Colada and Watermelon snow cone. I liked all of my items. My parents seemed to enjoy their All the Way Hot Dogs and fries. The fries were extra crunchy. My niece had the corn dogs and she had no complaints. My nephew kinda played over his Cheeseburger but the burger looked good and they made it just the way he likes. I would say the big difference in the Hot Dogs are the bun. The buns are golden brown and they toast the bun on the grill which gives them a crunch. I ain't going to lie the whole ordering process did make me anxious but I would definitely do it again if I was in Rock Hill again. Visited the Hot Dog Depot on a short detour down from Charlotte. As others have described the system is simple: 1) Order at the speaker 2) Pay at the first window 3) Pick up food at the second window I got the single hot dog combo (chili, mustard, slaw), tater tots, and an arnold palmer. I think it totaled around $5. Everyone who I encountered was very kind and made they made sure I got fresh, hot tots (which i appreciate). The hot dog was good. Not a footlong but still a bit larger than your standard store bought hot dog. It was pretty well loaded with toppings - plenty of chili, mustard, and slaw. The slaw was especially good, very fresh with a crunch to the cabbage. The tots were fresh and crispy but I wish they had been seasoned a bit more. Tiny drive thru right off the main drag. Order on one side of the building and drive around to the other. Simple. I ordered the sausage combo with mustard and onions, fries and a diet Pepsi. Sorry, my husband and I did not find the dogs that great. My coney dog had more cheese than anything and the onions did not right. My husband just complained about his hot dog. My peach milk shake was terrible. Were those really peaches in that shake? Sorry to say, but McDonald's shakes are far better. My husband's lemonade and my pepsi drinks were watered down with very little ice. All we were drinking was hot, water-down, flavored water. Saw a post on Rock Hill eats and couldn't avoid going...it just sounded good. $12 I found was very reasonable for the amount of food. Just bummed I had to share the plain hot dog with the pupper. The grilled bun was almost like a lobster roll. I hate to admit, I would have eaten an extra plain bun. Maybe that could be an add-on menu item. I love how they sharpied the name of the item on the foil. Depot dog was solid. The slaw I felt was "just right" and sweet enough. I am very picky about slaw. Friday was my first time at Hot Dog Depot and I must say it was a good visit. I drove down there from Charlotte. I ordered the #1 Combo with 2 hot dogs, fries that I subbed out for onion rings and a drink. I ordered the all beef dogs and they were nice size hot dogs not the skimpy kind you find in other places so they will fill you up and I ordered a cheeseburger with all the trimmings. Now for me the star of the show was the burger, that doesn't mean the dogs weren't good it just means I liked the burger the best. If I'm ever in the area I will hit em up again. read more

We ate here on 1/7/23. It was our first visit. I was surprised that the menu had so many options. It was hard to choose! I had the polish sausage with fries.
