First time at Cook Out and wasn't all that impressed. I get it it's fast food but it's supposed to he the fast food of the Carolinas and could have been better. I did a tray with 2 sides. My main being a Double Cheese Burger and my sides being Chili Cheese Fries, and White Cheddar Cheese Bites. I will say I was a fan of the side options because they have so many and ones that you rarely ever even see as an option. It was also about $10 for the meal and that was with a drink. The burger was ok but did have a bit of an off taste to it. The fries were not very good pretty plain. Could have been better of their was more cheese but I wasn't a huge fan of the chili. The Cheese Bites were good but there were not very many of them. I was glad we tried it but will not be rushing back. read more

My family came from another state to visit me. We decided to come to eat in cookout. I usually go through drive through and hardly have any issues with them. Today was the first time I had ate inside. The food was great, we just had some issues with our shakes which was missing toffee like we had ordered. The whole time our group had been exceptionally nice to the workers and very patient. Long story short, the red head girl was very nasty to multiple of us for whatever reason. I had just taken my shake back up there because it was missing toffee like I said before and the red head completely ignored me after throwing her hands in the air. My husband then went back up to the counter and said either give us a refund for the shakes or remake them. The other girl at the counter apologized for the red heads attitude and she remade them herself. To the red head girl, I understand how fast food is overwhelming sometimes because it's fast paced but your attitude was enough for me to never come inside again. I have no clue why this place has been hammered with so many bad reviews. We ate there Sunday after church. We had burgers, fries, cherry wine soda, and a milk shake. The food was outstanding. The restaurant was really clean. The cashier could not have been more polite and efficient. They were playing Christian music which was a really nice surprise. The cups all have Bible verses printed on them. These things may annoy people that are not Christians. I get that. I know this is a relatively large chain. We were at the one in Sylva. I can't speak for any other locations. All I can say is that this Cook about in Sylva is excellent. read more

I started coming to this cookout this summer with a coworker after karaoke and we always had great service at the drive thru. today I stopped into the dining room for the first time and the service was excellent. Jasmine was my cashier and customer service was perfect, she made me feel welcome without needing to fake a customer service persona. the dining area was clean and well maintained, food was delicious and fast as always. Had the worst customer service ever tonight. Chick with a neck tattoo was running the cash register and must've misheard my boyfriend when he said he wanted a cheerwine float because she gave us a regular cheerwine. He politely told her it was supposed to be a float and she looks at her coworkers and said "Oh my god, I need a cheerwhein float. God let me breathe." Then when we asked for cookout sauce she goes "Oh my god" and rolls her eyes. Worst service I've ever had at this place. If you hate your job so much find something else to do. read more

This place was unique. Three or was it 4 drive throughs? The burgers were inexpensive, but absolutely amazing. They tasted like they were right off the back yard grill. I tried ordering and the cashier was very rude and kept interrupting me asking what I wanted when I was in the process of telling her what I wanted. After the third time interrupting me by telling me what I "need" to tell her I clapped back and told her that's what I was trying to do. I placed my order and I was asked if I wanted cheese. As I am lactose intolerant I said no. Funny that the person chastising me for not ordering how she wanted me to was aking if I wanted something I didn't order. I get home and do a quick check and I don't see any cheese. I eat a couple bites and taste cheese. There is shredded cheese mixed into the mayonnaise underneath my burger patty. Moral of the story.. My family and I visit Sylva about twice a year and our literal very first stop and last stop before driving back to Florida is this Cook Out. The food is priced appropriately (also could be called cheap). Everything on the menu is delicious! I have always found the facility to be well maintained and inviting. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. They seem to enjoy their jobs which makes for a more pleasant experience. I recommend this place to anybody wanting some good food or someone wanting a Real Burger that tastes like it was made out back on a real grill. read more

Worst cookout I've ever been too , pretty sure they over charged me but they Refused to give me a receipt because there was one car behind me. Got 4 double cookout style burgers there was a maybe a teaspoon and chili on them , all the coleslaw was at the bottom of the wrapper not even on the burger . I was very disappointed in an experience at cookout. My family love their food and frequently visited. Yesterday was my last visit. I have auto immune compromised family and was shocked to pull up to the drive through to not just 1 but all but two employees in the building without a mask. The two that had masks on were wearing them improperly only over their mouth. The young lady at the window said that she had a medical exemption for a mask ( she should still at least wear a face shield) and that she would call her manager over. The person identified as a manager was one of the four to five others that were not wearing a mask and actually put a mask on when I asked why they were not wearing a mask, and tried to say it was because of shift change. He also asked me if I knew how the virus was transmitted and asked if I was so scared why I wasn't wearing gloves. I pulled out my hand sanitizer and told him I use hand sanitizer before and after each transaction. I advised him that face masks and frequent hand washing are more important than gloves. I also reminded him that the governor had in effect a mandate for a mask policy for those who do not live in the same household. And especially with food service they should have extra care. I also told him that even if it was shift change they shouldn't be entering the building without masks and that as the manager it is his responsibility to ensure he and his staff are following proper rules. The girl who was originally running the window said if I had a problem then I could contact the health department. I requested a refund and told them to keep the food. I would go else where where the establishment cared about the safety of their staff and customers. As much as My family and I enjoy the food at Cookout , due to auto immune compromised issues we will not eat at this establishment again until we could be ensured proper safety measures are being taken. The blatant disregard for families like my own with auto immune issues is too risky to continue doing business. Everybody is mad because the bathrooms are dirty and their food takes too long. Well - you know what? DEAL WITH IT! Your $5.00 tray with a burger, hot dog, fries, chicken nuggets, and a drink is worth it. Why are you willing to tolerate the other things? I've eaten at more than 15 different Cook Out restaurants. The Sylva location is absolutely the worst -- and there's not a close second. All other locations had fast service and great food, but not this one. The food was decent -- once we finally got our order. We were there for at least 25 minutes and had to complain twice before we ever got our food. When I asked the cashier why people that came in after us had received their orders, she just shrugged her shoulders. The first time we went there was move-in day for WCU and we had the same issue, but I attributed that to them not being prepared for the large volume of people. But on this day there really weren't that many people dining. If you're looking for a quick meal, skip Cook Out of Sylva. read more

I love cook out! The interior of this particular location is always clean. The decor is nice and the window shades are perfect! The burgers are delicious and can be built with any toppings you prefer. Get a big double burger tray with two sides and a drink - it's a great deal. Your food is brought to you in minutes of your order, but the reason that I gave it a 4 star was because the meat quality that is in their burgers isn't exactly what I would call the greatest.
