We visited this restaurant after hiking as we had worked up an appetite. We found this place was open even though it was about 3:30pm, that weird in between time between lunch and dinner. They had a great selection of burgers, sandwiches and pizzas. We placed our order at the counter and then went to the bar to order drinks and beers. This place has tons of seating, as well as lots of outdoor seating. We found a spot outside, and very quickly our server was approaching with our meals. He checked in to make sure we had everything we needed and was quick to return with those items. The food was very good and tasty. I had a teriyaki chicken sandwich with grilled chicken and pineapple, and they offered several different options of a side: steak fries, onion rings, seasoned fries, etc. My friends ordered the Philly Chicken sandwich and the Philly Steak Sandwich. They definitely enjoyed both of their meals The service was very good and the meals were reasonably priced. I'm so glad we chose this place for our after hike meal.

Food 3.5/5 Service 3.5/5 Transparency 1/5 Management 1/5 The burgers were a bit lacking, but not bad. We order a OMG Burger, Mushroom Swiss, and Hawaiian Burger. They were pretty good, but nothing to write home about. The seasoned fries were battered but not super flavorful and no salt. Not too bad, but price wise I'd definitely choose another place and get a better burger for a comparable price. The pizza kids meal claims pepperoni or cheese but they tack on $1.99 for pepperoni and then my kiddo wouldn't eat it because of the amount of grease dripping off of it. Just be aware if you have small kiddos the kids meal came out roughly 5-7 minutes before everyone else's food and so they will be done eating before you get your food. I'd suggest asking them to make the kids meals when the adult meals are done. The honey hot bone-in wings were actually really good The fries mushrooms were pretty good, just really greasy The drinks and fries are a la carte -- not sure if there is actually a meal deal pricing or not because they rang up the drinks separate and the fries were a little cheaper with the burgers, but one fry they added weird and it charged extra for it (not sure why when it was stated "fries with the Hawaiian burger" specifically). Additionally, the online pricing is WRONG as of 9/20/25 the burgers are between $3-$5 more per burger than the online pricing. we spent $80 for a party of 4. Now, the cashier was doing her best but didn't seem to know the answers about pricing/meal options/ingredients etc. she was nice enough though just confused The fella who brought out the food was nice as well. Now, we had some confusion bc of the being up charged randomly for the fries as well as the pizza up charge and when the food came out there were fries with the wings and none with the Hawaiian burger. We assumed maybe the wings came with the fries and we didn't realize it. So we mentioned that the burger was supposed to have fries - no big deal just telling them I had the receipt to show him but he didn't look at it. He went to get more and came back and confirmed the type of fries and then the manage (I assume anyway) came out and told us we were wrong and it was just played wrong (still no big deal) but while she was there I asked about pricing online vs in store and why the random up charges and she said the prices are just wrong online due to recent price hike and "that's really weird" to the fries charging more and still no clear answer if the drinks should be cheaper with the burgers or not. Then she was a little ill when I pointed out all the pricing inconsistencies was a little confusing and the up charges needed to be clearly listed (I wasn't hateful about it but I thought it was worth mentioning) She then asked "do you want your 'dollar' back for the fries?" To which I was done at that point and said "no, actually it seems like you maybe y'all need it more" and she said okay and walked away. We had decided we would still be okay with the place if the food was good even with the confusion and what not, but after the demeanor and response when we raised the concerns just so they can know the feedback while talking to us anyway we decided we won't be back. And I know that doesn't mean anything to them and maybe they'll be happy about that. However, I hope this is not the typical interactions. Just be aware of your pricing as it is being rang up and you'll be fine I believe. Tables were dirty throughout the restaurant where they needed to be wiped down but as it sped up they were getting the tables cleaned more. No biggie. They do have nice seating areas outside and the tables are situated away from the bar area which is nice for those here for a drink vs those who just want to eat or have larger parties. Cheers and good luck!

They had a young one-man musician performing, and while I can't remember his name, he did an excellent job. He honestly ended up being our favorite live entertainment of the entire trip. His performance was one of the reasons we wanted to come back. On our second visit for the Fourth of July, we were excited to catch the advertised live band. The sign said they would start at 7:30, but they were just beginning to set up at that time and didn't look close to playing until much later. We were also a little disappointed that Friday karaoke wasn't happening because of the holiday weekend. We had really been looking forward to it. That said, the food absolutely made up for it. The chicken wings were outstanding--easily some of the best wings we had during our trip. The pork rinds were another surprise favorite and are perfect for sharing while enjoying a drink. CJ's has that laid-back, small-town mountain vibe that's easy to appreciate. If you're passing through Bryson City, it's a great place to stop, relax, and grab some food and drinks. My only recommendation is to call ahead if you're planning your evening around karaoke or live music, just to make sure the schedule is accurate. We'll definitely stop back the next time we're in Bryson City. Great food, friendly atmosphere, and a place that's worth checking out.

I came in with high expectations. The restaurant has strong reviews, it's part of the Johnson Family of restaurants, and I've enjoyed several of their other establishments over the years. So I walked in expecting a meal that would have me planning a return visit before I even paid the check. What I got instead was one of the strangest cases of missing seasoning I've encountered in quite some time. Let's start with the positives. The people here are genuinely nice. Friendly, welcoming, and attentive. Everyone we encountered was pleasant and seemed to care about providing a good experience. The restaurant itself is clean, comfortable, and inviting. And the kitchen clearly knows how to cook food. The fried chicken was cooked beautifully. Crispy on the outside. Juicy on the inside. Exactly the texture you're hoping for when you order Southern fried chicken. The problem? The seasoning apparently called in sick. This chicken had all the flavor intensity of a weather report. No noticeable salt. No spice. No personality. It tasted like the chef had just completed community service at a nursing home and was legally prohibited from possessing a salt shaker. My piece of chicken was juicy and cooked properly. Unfortunately, my wife's chicken breast was noticeably dry, which didn't help matters. Then came the fried pickles. No seasoning. Chicken and dumplings. No seasoning. Coleslaw. Tasteless. At one point I started wondering if there had been some sort of building-wide seasoning shortage that nobody had told us about. The frustrating part is that none of the food was poorly cooked. Quite the opposite. The techniques were there. The textures were there. The execution was there. It just felt like someone got everything ready and forgot the final, critical step of making the food taste like something. This is a restaurant with good people, a pleasant atmosphere, and a kitchen that clearly knows how to cook. Now they just need to introduce their food to salt, pepper, and a few of their seasoning friends. Three stars. Because the potential is absolutely there. The flavor just never showed up for work.
