They have an amazing selection of brews, really whatever you're thirsty for - lager, ipa, Oktoberfest, etc. and the menu was impressive too. He had the fish tacos and I had the Cubano sandwich. We both very much enjoyed our meal. That was the best Cuban sandwich I've had in a long time. We sat at the outside bar and had a relaxed meal and conversation. We split the country fried steak with a loaded baked potato and the creamed spinach. All three things were absolutely excellent and tasted home cooked. We got an Apple baked crisp with ice cream on it for dessert. It was baked to order, but was a little too overpowering with the cinnamon. Kind of felt like we were eating a straight up cinnamon sticks, it was almost bitter. The apple slices in it were nice and soft though.

My MIL and I both got the Meatloaf sandwich. I got mine on a hoagie bun and my MIL got hers on Texas toast. We both enjoyed our meatloaf sandwiches. Mine was worth going back for another. My MIL also enjoyed half of hers and gave me the other half. The Hoagie bun was definitely the better decision. This is a cheap diner with cheap diner food. The atmosphere is just what it looks like in the pictures and it's exactly what we were looking for. The staff is very friendly. Our waitress tried to sell us some of their homemade desserts, but, unfortunately we already had ingredients and plans for an apple tart, back at the cabin. We will definitely visit this place again, on our next trip. I'll get another meatloaf sandwich, (it was really outstanding) my wife will get something other than the fried steak and we'll both grab a couple of those good looking homemade desserts they had in their display case. In any event, there was a wait for a party of four. The bustling atmosphere tells you that they're doing their best to serve a restaurant packed full of people. The woman with us asked lots of questions about gluten, and what was available. I have a severe gluten intolerance myself, so I was interested. The Manager was informative, and tried to be helpful, but was clear that there was a possibility of cross-contamination. Based on his responses, she decided she would not eat the food. I went ahead and ordered the egg breakfast with gluten-free toast and grits. Hubby ordered the French Dip; he felt it was good. But truth be told, we both felt a little ill when we got home. I blamed my issue on a highly likely, but slight, cross-contamination. This could be a significant problem for those with gluten intolerance. We were unsure what might have caused hubby a problem, since he's not gluten intolerant. He would give it another try. I think it's worth visiting, if you don't have gluten intolerance.

The chicken wings were outstanding--easily some of the best wings we had during our trip. The pork rinds were another surprise favorite and are perfect for sharing while enjoying a drink. CJ's has that laid-back, small-town mountain vibe that's easy to appreciate. If you're passing through Bryson City, it's a great place to stop, relax, and grab some food and drinks. My only recommendation is to call ahead if you're planning your evening around karaoke or live music, just to make sure the schedule is accurate.
