Visiting Waynesville, North Carolina from Santa Monica California. Finally got to a Waffle House! My first time! I was surprised to see how pretty it was inside with very comfortable booths. It was a fun experience! My friend and I only had the waffle plus bacon today, but it made an ample lunch. There were three strips of nicely wide & long bacon, an excellent value, plus a very nice 8" round waffle. At $7.50 it was an excellent value. The syrup was fine. I also elected to add their freeze dried blueberry "nougat" nuggets to the batter, which I'm sorry to say did not add deliciousness to my waffle. It was overly sweet and just not like a real blueberry so I would skip that in future. Although we did not have coffee, at $2.50, that's a bargain. Tiffany, our server was wonderful and so kind and perfectly helpful. As was the Chef, although I did not get her name. They were both charming. Lots of ample parking. 24 hour service.. A surprise was that there weren't any fried chicken items to go with the waffle on the menu. I had hoped to have some version of that even if it was only chicken strips with honey on top, plus a waffle. Don't know why this isn't part of the menu! Been to a ton of Waffle House locations across the US (I've done 4 cross-country drives) and this is by far the cleanest location as well as the friendliest staff. Tiffany (I assume she is the manager) is on-point, super kind, and was also training a new hire and seemed happy to do it. The food was delicious and I will 100% be coming back. read more

OH MY GOODNESS WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO OUR WAFFLEHOUSE??? I haven't been in here since COVID began but WOW what a disgusting place it is now. Granted is a 'WAFFLEHOUSE' but there is no reason for the nastiness. Apparently we don't wipe anything down or clean surfaces in between customers. The grill area is horrendous. Stay Away!!! this place used to be good for a quick meal, with fast service and good food......Not anymore!!!! Clueless kids running the place last night and the food was worse that it has ever been,spilling their personal canned drinks all over food prep areas and clumsy kids dropping bottles of condiments that busted in glass bottles all over floor and left for the other employees to clean up, taking multiple orders before calling out to cook and getting them all screwed up....wrong food to wrong tables!!!! I don't know what to say other than what a disappointment. The staff, which was mostly comprised of 19/20 year olds, were clueless. All that were there disappeared on several occasions leaving no one to tend to the customers. Our server spilled his own drink on the waffle maker while a waffle was being prepared. He dropped almost everything he picked up, including a bottle of hot sauce that he left for another server to clean up. At one point he left the restaurant to go get himself an ink pen because "he didn't like using a red one". The food, and yes I know not to expect much after all its Waffle House, was awful. I don't know who taught the cook how to scramble eggs, but they need a new teacher. The hash browns were so over cooked you could barely eat them without fear of breaking a tooth. If you're going to go to Waffle House, I suggest taking the extra time and go to Canton. You'll be glad you did! read more

We went today for a late lunch. It was clean and we were greeted immediately. Sat at a booth and a guy waited on us. There was a girl cook and she did great with the food. We both got hashbrowns that were cooked perfect unlike most places that burn them to death and they are too hard to eat. I got a chocolate chip waffle and he got a regular waffle and they were both cooked perfect as well. There was a woman coming back and forth from the back so I assume she was a Manager and she smiled and greeted us as well and asked if we needed anything which was nice. We will be back! read more

This is a great Waffle House location. Our server, Alycia, and the server who was being trained by her, Laila, were both very kind. The service was extremely prompt, and the food was prepared faster than most Waffle Houses I've been to. Like always, the All Star Special was great. The bacon was slightly undercooked, but this is common with all Waffle House locations. In conclusion, I highly recommend this Waffle House location. read more

We came in on a Monday night for dinner when we were staying in the area and so many other restaurants were closed or full. It was not a good dining experience at all. There was one cook and one woman who was serving, cleaning, dish washing, hosting, and checking people out. There was also one additional employee with blue hair who did some serving to one of the many tables that were full but otherwise just loudly complained all evening and asked the other woman to do work. When the food did come out it was all over cooked to the point that none of it looked appetizing. The grits were very lumpy. None of the food was tasty really. This place was a disaster. read more

This was our first time here and we had a wait when came in. Now it was only a few minutes, but still it's the Waffle House, who would of thought you had to wait for a seat. The count top we sat at was not clean, we had to ask for it to be cleaned. Then the menus was sticky as well, not a good start. I order the steak & eggs with hash browns and toast. The cooks was slammed, there was 4 cooking and running into each other. It was a good show to watch everyone as there was very little room for all the employees to move around. Overall the food was not that bad, the steak was ok. Not much taste, as it had no seasoning or anything on it. Very bland, but the rest of my meal was fine, not worth the cost $8.55. We were in Waynesville for a New Year's Eve event. Not many restaurants were open so we ventured to the Waffle House. We knew there would be potential for a bad meal; we were right. All tables were full with patrons. Although there were 3 cooks and a handful of servers working, it was a disorganized mess. They were yelling at each other about tables, orders, and who was making coffee. Our server was right in the thick of the argument. Our food was terrible. The bacon and hash browns were burned. Had an absolutely horrible experience at the Waffle House!! My friend and I walked in and the server said to have a seat because it would be a few minutes. We sat there for 1/2 hour as we watched about 20-24 people come in, take a look around and leave. At the end of the half hour, she looked at us and said "we're doing take out only"! My response was "why didn't you tell us that 30 minutes ago?" So we left. Most amazing part -- BOTH servants sat down with about a dozen people waiting and counted their tip money and reconciled their order/pay slips!!!! NEVER will I darken the door of a Waffle House again!!!! The place was a mess with dirty dishes/glasses piled on the front counter and all of the counter seats blocked off. Also, there were only 3 -- THREE -- booths open for service!!! This place should not even be in business!! If you don't have enough staff, don't open the doors!!! read more

I think this is the same joint listed at 32 Barber Blvd., in Waynesville. Like several similar restaurants, this chain often seen on road trips, offers "breakfast all day" off their extensive menu. In addition to that, what also brought us in for a late lunch here was their outrageous reputation for serving 10,000 T-bone steaks daily (chain-wide). It turns out that the basic "steak and eggs" breakfast choice gets you a rather thin slice of sirloin. Ordered medium/rare, it came more rare than expected and went back for a bit more cooking. You also have the option to upgrade your steak to a finer cut than sirloin (such as that T-bone) for a few dollars more. We had a nice waitress. read more

Jukebox and counter seating available for people who need ear and eye entertainment (you can see close up cookin' action). Prices are good enough for folks like me- scrimping. Waitresses are sweet. They say "Hi!" and "Bye!". Good selection of terrific breakfast and lunch items (chicken sandwiches, burgers, salads). Pie, too. There are specials for under five bucks all the time, and read the chalkboard for that day's special. Waffles are heavenly. We stayed overnight in Maggie Valley for Christmas and this was one of the few restaurants open in the area. The waitress we had was wonderful, even though they were busy. They still had our food hot and ready in no time at all. The food was great and the service was wonderful. Would recommend going when in town. read more

If you go to the "Awful House" you should be aware of the consequences. The only thing consistent at any of these places is the coffee. I haven't eaten at one in few years so I decided to try the Waynesville, NC restaurant while visiting my brother. I did eat there twice, so my review is opened minded and fair. Three days ago I ate an Omelette, Country Ham, grits and a biscuit. It was good and no issues until a few hours later. Needless to say it was a good thing I was near a bathroom when I really needed it. Perhaps, it was just a one off experience? So keeping an open mind I decided to try another meal today (12/27/19). Sat down got some coffee, and ordered an everything Omelette with grits and a biscuit. Not to be rude, but the cook looked like someone from a halfway house or prison release program. When my Omelette came it was floating in grease or oil and had a big hole in the top with the barely cooked ingredients and unmelted cheese. I was disgusted and sent it back. I drank my coffee and left. Rather then go on, it's best to state the positive. The waitress staff there is "5 Star", especially Sierra and Amanda. If you go to the Awful House, it's best to have coffee. read more

This place is really hit or miss. Sometimes it is really good, other times, God awful. I used to think this was the best Waffle House ever, but recently it has taken a turn for the worst. They seem to have a hard time keeping people, which is understandable. The times I've seen newbies, management/cooks seem to be barking orders at them. There's a very friendly lady that works the door on the weekends and an extremely tall gentleman, a server, whom if you're lucky enough to get, is probably their best server. There is one girl that hums/sings incessantly (I'm sure this is how she gets through the day), but it can be a little annoying at times. As stated before, the food is either really good or really bad. I hate to say it, but it's a poor experience that I recently had that prompted this review. The eggs were gray/burned and appeared to have dust in them as though the pan had waited a long time before being used. I chose not to eat them. The bacon was on the pretty dark side. The hashbrowns were the most enjoyable part of my meal. Our server was polite. However, there was a very obviously sick employee working, whom was coughing so loud, that we could actually hear her from the BOH. There is nothing more unappetizing than hearing someone cough up a lung while you're trying to enjoy your breakfast. Not to mention, she's handling things that later guests will be using.
